Mikolas to the Cards - 2/$15.5

Mikolas was a guy that I thought Milwaukee could have gone after - a young (only 29), mid-priced starter type who could (potentially) fill one of our rotation slots. Mikolas was not good on his initial run through the majors (2012-14 - only 91 innings with a 5.00+ ERA), but has been great in Japan for the last three years.

Obviously, there's more than just his stats (which were great in Japan), so we'll see if he can translate his success to the majors.

The price wasn't bad - I thought he'd get a little less - but he must have drawn some decent interest.

Every time STL signs or acquires a new player I find myself just assuming said player will be the next Brewer killer. In fact, I'm pre-emptively shaking my fist at Miles Mikolas right now.
Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

That's the type of pitcher addition I wanted 2x this offseason. I dont know him but the names been around here and thats what I'd expect to pay on a potential laden gamble.
