2021-09-30: Brewers (Anderson) at Cardinals (Happ) [Brewers lose, 4-3]

Narvaez has really faded in the 2nd half of the season.

Since the all-star break (prior to today's game):

Narvaez: 184 PA, 3 HR, 21 RBI, .234/.283/.335 (618 OPS)

Pina: 95 PA, 8 HR, 23 RBI, .262/.347/.595 (943 OPS)

Pina might finish with the higher season OPS, which is nuts considering how they both respectively started.

Bally Sports Wisconsin announcers said that Counsell wants to win these games -- I heard that on last night's broadcast.

I mean, he's not going to come out and say that they don't care. But right now the #1 goal is to go into next week rested and healthy.

Does "momentum" matter? I think it probably does, at least a little.

Whatever momentum the Brewers might or might not have would have to carry over four off days before their first game Friday.

This study by FanGraphs found very little correlation between September performance & October performance, with a much stronger correlation between full season performance & October performance...

Yes CC said on Bally’s that they were trying to win ……

He then proceeded to put out a lineup that included Bradley and Omar against a lefty…along with ..Hiura ……he rested Wong, Cain, Garcia, Yelich and Pina…..all who would have played if he was trying to win today…….most importantly…..he decided to start Anderson and then follow him,up with Sanchez and Norris before having Hader throw the 8th inning when the team was behind.

So after watching those decisions do we believe what he said or can we draw a different conclusion?

Obviously you’d rather he was just a better pitcher…….but I’ve always liked guys who don’t try to sugarcoat who they are when talking to the media. It’s refreshing

Brett Anderson isn't bothered by the uncertainty of whether he'll crack the NLDS roster.

"That’s how the postseason works. It’s a good problem to have, five really good starters and whatever I am.”

Brett Anderson has been just fine for the $2.5 million we paid him. He gave us a chance to win in a lot of the games he’s pitched.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Coming into today Anderson was one of 124 starters to have thrown at least 90 IPs this season.

By runs allowed based WAR his 0.7 mark was in a three way tie for 100th with Jon Lester & Michael Wacha.

He might not be much compared to the other five guys in the rotation, but Brett Anderson has been a perfectly cromulent starting pitcher in the year 2021.

Classy to the end……..like I said….nothing but respect for him

Damn. That was so nice to read.

Brings a tear to the eye. Classy guy. It's really nice to see all 3 Wisco Major Pro sports teams have navigated themselves into the conversation of 'Classy and Top Notch Organization'. As Small Market teams that is an essential ingredient. Cheers to all for rooting for the 'Good' guys.

Of course the first reply to him is a total abhorrent jerk.

Kind of an odd take by Anderson… not sure it is a slam dunk that he is not on the roster in the bullpen. The loss of Williams gives him an even better shot.

Is there a chance he will not be on the roster after the regular season ends?

Probably a good chance. If he makes the roster, it will be as a mop-up guy.

Not an odd take at all. He never said it was a slam dunk. Just showing graciousness if it was indeed his last pitch as a Brewer.
