The Low-A Mudcats are tied 2-2 in their series at home against Myrtle Beach and have RHP Alexander Cornielle (3.27 ERA, 1.60 WHIP, 10.2 K/9 in 41 1/3 innings) on the mound in tonight’s pivotal contest. CF Jackson Chourio has hit 5 home runs in June and is the only Carolina player with an OPS over .700 on the season (at a whopping 1.053 OPS):

High-A Wisconsin is down 3-1 in their series at Beloit and turns to RHP Justin Jarvis, who’s been solid over his last 6 starts (2.51 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 10.3 K/9 over last 32 1/3 innings). 2021 5th round pick SS Ethan Murray is having a bit better success this month (.746 OPS in June vs. .541 April/May):

The Shuckers are even 2-2 in their series at home against the Smokies and send LHP Nick Bennett (5.06 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, 7.0 K/9 in 42 2/3 innings in AA)to the mound tonight for his 11th appearance of 2022. 2B Felix Valerio was the hero last night, with two homers and 8 RBIs:

The Mudcats are glad to see Pelicans' 22-year old RHP Luis Devers finally depart after 6 innings of 3-hit shutout ball. Carolina's Alexander Cornielle was excellent as well (5 IP, 2 R, 3 H). Hopefully Carolina can make it happen against Myrtle Beach's bullpen. Pelicans 2, Mudcats 0 - 6th inning.

Stud Jackson Chourio has reached base 2 of 3 times through 6 innings tonight (single, hit-by-pitch). He'll get one more chance to do some damage.

The AAA Sounds aim for a 2nd win to cut this week's series deficit against Norfolk to 3-2. RHP Lucas Erceg (2nd-ever AAA pitching appearance) will start before likely handing over to RHP Alec Bettinger after about 2 innings. Super-prospect Brice Turang (.271 AVG / .321 OBP / .362 SLG) gets a night to lead off and play center field:

Shoot. RHP Fernando Olguin was cruising through his 3rd inning of relief work, consistently getting ahead of hitters, but concedes a run in the 8th inning on a single and double. It's now 3-0 Myrtle Beach over Carolina.

Well, there was no coming back against Myrtle Beach 24-year old LHP Adam Laskey, who's now pitched 21 2/3 innings of Low-A ball in 2022 without conceding a run. Hey Cubs - maybe promote the young man?

Let's hope that Wisconsin, Biloxi and Nashville are able to turn the night around.

Wes Clarke ladies and gentlemen. Have a ball game, young man! Wes has been Mr. Dependable all year for the T-Rats. Healthy. Manning the C, 1B, and DH positions in a pinch. Wonderful to see a 2-HR, 6 rbi night - including the ninth inning Grand Salami.

Wow, you might think that sending pitchers Lucas Erceg (2 innings - just promoted from AA), Zack Brown (3 innings - longest outing this year), Pablo Garabitos (3 innings - never pitched above Low-A ball) and Connor Sadzeck (1 inning) out to cover a AAA game was akin to putting up a white flag.

Well, you’d be wrong. The unlikely combo limited Norfolk to 2 runs on 6 hits in their 4-2 victory. Way to go, gentlemen!!
