Game Thread (7/16/2022): Brewers (Lauer) at Giants (Cobb) - 6:15 PM CDT

I feel like the Brewers always play some nightmare games right before the All-Star Break. Seem to recall blowing a five run lead to AZ way back when (2008, maybe?AZ gets 6 runs in ninth; Crew doesn't record an out), losing to the Yankees on a Clint Frazier (or Adam Frazier) walk off after a 3-1 ninth inning lead (in a series the Crew won), the debacle in Pittsburgh in 2018. The Reds last year. Holy crap just listing all of these is spine-tingling (if also a little cathartic, especially since those teams ended up pretty good).

The guy has been our most valuable position player this season. And his defense at third has been right there with Arenado…

You had me with the first part maybe, but for me Arenado is so smooth at third and his bat is pretty good too !

Gosh I'd love to see them deal for a solid, controllable 3B before the deadline. I agree that Urias is likely this team's 2B of the future. He's fine defensively at 3B, but his production would be all that much more valuable at 2B.

I'd also like to see Urias become the type of hitter he was in the minors with a high average and less power than this swing and miss version we see now.

Renfroe rolls into third!  That was great!

I hold my breath every time he tries to run hard. A guy who has had calf and hamstring injuries is always one step away from another one.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Tuned in late.....when did Cobb start throwing upper 90s? I haven't seen him pitch in a few years but all I remember is a 90mph sinker and a decent changeup

Davis might be out. Looks like the fielder had his glove between his foot and the bag after his hand came off.

That would have ticked me off if they had overturned that. I don’t trust the replay system.

I don't think they had a good enough camera angle to determine that. It appeared to be close, though, Not a bad one to challenge.
