Yeah I am all in on rebuild. Any lineup that does not have Mitchell Frelick Turang and Feliciano and Wiemer or Ruiz I have no intrest in.

Feliciano is a butcher on defense right now, and hasn't even shown that much with the bat lately. I'd be careful what you wish for.

Trading Hader wasn't as much about the money as much as it was realizing it wasn't in the best interest of the franchise to attempt to resign him, and that we should attempt to maximize his value while he still has a significant amount left.

I sure hope they received sufficient value back in that trade. Lol

Maybe Frelick?

No. Frelick would be too much imo. Jansen is really good, but he hasn't sustained his production over 100 games at this point. Frelick is also one of the guys that we will need to reshape our offense into a more contact-oriented outfit.

Maximize his value?? Do you think that happened and given that it cost you a playoff was it worth it?? This is my whole point. I don't think the Brewers care all that much about trying to win right now otherwise they would have kept Hader. I see no evidence that they won't be ok with a down year in order to bounce back.

I just watched 75 games of Vic Caratini hitting 146 and he was our best option so I am sure he will be fine.

It might take that.

If we're dealing any of our top OF prospects for a catcher, I'd love to try to pry Sean Murphy away from the A's.

Another option, as well. There is definitely room for improvement out there with the increased payroll flexibility and our revamped farm system. A full-fledged rebuild is unnecessary at this point and a step too far.

Doesn’t matter what any of us think. That’s up to the Brewers GM, whomever that might be. This is all speculation.

Where is increased flexibility coming from?? Burnes and Woodruff as well as Devin and others are getting raises. The Cain money is spent so I can't see a ton more money to make the moves needed.

Feliciano isn't close defensively unless there's a gargantuan jump in his game over the offseason. And if ever there's a position that isn't "the bat plays" it's catcher.

Then the Jays are overestimating his worth and will have to go into next season with three catchers on their roster (or stash Moreno in AAA for the entire season). Frelick is a top 30 prospect right now and should fetch a proven all-star, not one who, while displaying impressive production with the bat this season, has yet to sustain that production throughout the course of an entire season.

It really is all about the cash. If it comes to a choice between money and baseball talent, cash will always win. It’s that way in all sports leagues.

Well I want him on the team and if you find a cheap vet to be the starter I am ok with that.

Right. And is why I started by pointing you all towards Stearns' and Attanasio's previous statements on the subject, which have consistently been a hard "no".

Time will tell. People judging it now are waaay too premature. It was never about the last two months of 2022 only. If looked at in that context, yeah it didn't help.

As of right now, the Brewers are only committed to Yelich ($26 million), Peralta ($3.5), and Ashby ($1.2 million) for next season. Cain, Wong, McCutchen, etc. are all likely coming off the books. That is significant flexibility even when you figure in the raises Burnes, Woodruff, and Devin are set to get.

Not according to Baseball America or the MLB website. Maybe only in your mind.

You do realize that those were put out before Frelick proceeded to demolish AAA pitching, right? Far from unreasonable to assume that he will move up there from 46, which is where he is currently listed on MLB pipeline.

When did they say that. I hope it wasn’t on June 1. Maybe the way they played the past 4 months May have changed their mind.

Latest was at the deadline after the Hader trade. I severely doubt things have changed that much, even with them now having missed the postseason.

Sure I do, but let’s face it you’ve overestimated Brewer talent constantly.

Oh, I have? Please show me where, Mr. Snarky.

Brewers with 6 top 100 prospects in this list which was released last week. Chourio (#11), Frelick (#41), Turang (#58), Wiemer (#64), Ruiz (#92), Gasser (#99). All but Chourio finished the year in AAA. There's one area that you can use to improve the team this offseason, whether by bringing them up to the big-league club or trading them for established talent.
