...and with their minor league system chock full of talent, it sure would have been nice to offer Burnes to them to see what we could get.

Instead, the Oriloes will trade some of their top pieces (which we could have gotten in a Burnes trade), and we won't be able to see what Burnes true value would have been this off season.

If this team were realistic they would look at their negative run differential and awful lineup and do the smart thing which is trading Burnes to either the Orioles or Dodgers who both have great prospects to choose from.

The backlash from the Hader trade and the fact that the Brewers are again in the playoff hunt makes it nearly impossible that Arnold would sell. I agree that he should be listening to offers and legitimately considering those offers but selling now went out the window with the Hader trade. This will happen in the offseason.

Looking at the rest of the division, the Cards are in sell mode, the Pirates are sort of selling but definitely not contending, the Reds have up to this point stood pat hoping they're good enough to muddle into a division title, and the Cubs appear to be soft buyers.  The Brewers have added a couple bats to plug glaring holes in their lineup and I expect them to make a couple other moves before the deadline, so they're also in a soft/tepid buy mode.

I just don't see their primary competition for the division making any crazy moves at the deadline, and the help the Brewers may be getting soon adding Woodruff to the rotation is a bigger add than what any other "blockbuster" trade by the Reds or Cubs will do.  

All in all, it seems like too many posters have spent too much time in the sun around here lately with some of their trade deadline takes and unrealistic "SELL EVERYONE NOW", "BUY EVERYONE NOW" posts.
