The Timber Rattlers play the early game at home today (12:10pm CST), aiming to take a 2-0 series lead over Quad Cities. Let the RHP Cameron Wagoner wave continue (last 14.2 IP: 3 R, 12 H, 3 BB, 1 HBP, 17 Ks). RF Eduarqui Fernandez returns from injury for his first High-A action since June 28.

It appears that SS Eric Brown Jr. was a late scratch, with Robert Moore shifting over to SS and Jheremy Vargas getting a chance to play 2B.

Vargas just came through with a 2-run single in the 6th inning to re-take the lead 4-3.

Cameron Wagoner continued his recent solid run: 5 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 4 BB, 5 Ks.

After 3B Mike Boeve had a crucial 2-run error on an 8th inning bunt, he comes through with a 2-out RBI double to re-take the lead 7-6 in the bottom half.

Earlier, SS Robert Moore opened the scoring with a 2-run homer and also doubled in a run a few batters before Boeve to tie the game 6-6.

Low-A Carolina has lost 6 of 8 games, but welcomes SS Daniel Guilarte back from injury to spark the team. 20-year old RHP Jesus Rivero (2.92 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 13.1 K/9 in 37 IP) makes his 3rd start of the season.

Nashville looks to double their series lead to 2-0 at Gwinnett, with RHP Evan McKendry (4.08 ERA, 1.21 ERA, 8.3 K/9 in 114.2 IP) getting tonight’s start. 3B Tyler Black has reached base (hit, walk or HBP) in all 14 games he’s played at the AAA level.

O'Rae BB and SB, Guilarte 1B and SB, Chirinos BB, Adams 1B, Areinamo 1B, Avina 2B.

Mudcats up 5-2 after 1.

AA Biloxi needs a home win over Pensacola to even the series 1-1 and turns to RHP Tobias Myers to continue his decent 7-game run (3.86 ERA with 52 Ks in 39.2 IP). LF Isaac Collins has the 2nd-highest OBP in the Southern League (.431 in 299 PAs.

1 - Carlos D. Rodriguez - RF
2 - Jackson Chourio - CF
3 - Isaac Collins - LF
4 - Jeferson Quero - C

6 - Zavier Warren - 3B
7 - Freddy Zamora - 2B

Tobias Myers started strong (K’d 5 of first 6 batters), did well to avoid 3-ball counts…and gave up a bunch of runs and hits nonetheless. Shuckers trail 8-2 in the 5th inning

The Mudcats keep stranding runners (10 thru 6 innings) and now lead just 5-4 in the 7th inning. Likely need to tack on some runs here in the final three frames.

Thyago Vieira has come in to pitch the bottom of the 9th inning in Gwinnett, Sounds leading 3-1.

Jesse Winker and Cam Devanney are a combined 5-for-7 with 2 RBIs. Two other Sounds have a hit each.

Vieira closes it out: groundout, groundout, K swinging! Peak velocity of 100.1 mph on the final pitch.

The Stripers had only one hit! RHP Evan McKendry is zeroing in on that 40-man roster spot in November.

Gulp. We didn’t score in the 7th or 8th innings. Carolina still leads 5-4 and RHP Yerlin Rodriguez comes in to try to close it out in the of the 9th inning.

Game 2 of the Mudcats series and I'm already ready to be done facing this Trevor Werner dude on Columbia. He's 5-7 in the series with 1 2B, 3 HR, and a BB.

Bad start:

- 0-and-1: single
- full count: walk

And the save has been blown. Big shoutout to Blayberg Diaz for a huge CS or the Mudcats would be in serious jeopardy of going down.

Yerlin has faced 4 batters and hasn't pitched an out. 3 singles and a BB. It's looking bleak in Carolina right now.

Blayberg Diaz gives and Blayberg Diaz takes. After a huge CS earlier in the 9th he has a throwing error throwing down to 2B with runners on the corner and 2 outs and Columbia takes the 6-5 lead. Another blown lead by the Carolina bullpen. Lynchburg won earlier today, so if Carolina can't come back from down 6-5 the division lead will move down to 1 game.

Jesus Chirinos with a solo HR to open the bottom of the 9th. We have ourselves a tie game!

Chirinos’ game-tying homer to lead off the bottom of the 9th inning is followed by 3 straight Ks: Adams, Mercado, Areinamo.

Time for Chase Costello to get back on that horse after disasters in his last 2 appearances (after an excellent season to date). He’ll pitch the 10th inning.

And Costello sets ‘em down in order! - fly out, 2 Ks swinging!

Let’s walk this sucker off! Avina, Diaz and O’Rae are due up with the ghost runner on 2nd base.
