I've thought of that too. Not a good time to be experiencing ezboard problems. Draft day is usually our busiest day of the year, and the boards have already been slow the past few days.

You might wanna hit the chatroom early tomorrow, or even go there tonight and bookmark it. Since the room isn't a part of EZBoard, you should be able to go there without having to worry about the messageboard not functioning.

 

Brian, have you considered putting a link on the front page so people can avoid the messageboard should the worst come to pass?

At 3:20 am on Draft Day, we currently have 17 visitors.

 

It's like the glass of water from Jurassic Park....

 

...you can already feel tremors indicating the coming period of chaos.

 

I think the most I've ever seen here in the middle of the night is like 6.

 

All previous site records for visitors, page views, etc are going to be destroyed. It was amazing to witness last year and beat up on the server pretty bad. This year will have even heavier traffic.

5218 unique visitors yesterday was a new record.

 

Sorry for the downtime... 315,609 hits yesterday really brutalized the server. Using the information provided by my host on what went wrong, I can make a few performance tweaks, but I may have to move the site to a dedicated server... This is bound to get worse, not better, if I don't.

I think doing an annual fundraiser drive might be a good idea. We've done it in the past to help out costs for the message board, but I think making it official might be the way to go. Especially if you want to put the money towards a dedicated server.

What does a dedicated server entail? Is this something where the site would have to get a line and buy equipment? Or is it something that would be rented from someone else?

No, it would still be hosted elsewhere, but it's basically a private machine with just brewerfan.net on it. Right now, our server has several sites running off it, in addition to brewerfan.

Although I'm sure you'd enjoy it, I didn't think a dedicated server would involve running a T-line into your house.

Message Board traffic is defianately higher today, but i'm betting general site traffic was higher during the draft (due to patrick's coverage getting hit pretty hard). I won't know until after the report runs overnight.

Draft day, without a doubt. Much of the Weeks news occured late Friday afternoon, and much of the daily traffic happens at work.
