OH BABY, Mercado made a huge running stab that would have blown it open for the Wood Ducks. What a run down and reaching sprinting grab. I don't know how he held on. Whewwwwwww. 2-2.

Let's walk this off and get to game 2!

Reidy Mercado runs one down in the gap to end the inning and save 2 runs! 2-2 going to the bottom half of the 7th.

Heck of a play. That was probably a triple. I don't know how he held on or didn't eat grass. Play of the game right there.

Roriguez's recent struggles represent the ongoing dilemma manager Victor Estevez faces. Why did he stick with Herrera? He was only at 54 pitches before he walked the bases full and has been better of late. AND, well, the bullpen is on shaky shaky skates. You just don't know what you're getting.

A groundout to 1B by O'Rae (after working the count full from an 0-2 count - nearly his second 0-2 walk of the day) sends pinch runner, Gregory Barrios, to 3B. Diaz had shallow flared a single to CF. Pinch run for. Barrios advanced on a balk. Let's get a sac fly from Tayden Hall!

Hall takes pitch one low and inside. 1-0. He takes a big cut at a high heater and swings and misses. 1-1. He takes another monster hack at a heater high and inside and whiffs. 1-2. He lays off another heater high and inside. 2-2. He fouls one straight back. Inside heater inside and at the knees. He fought it off. He lays off a very high breaking ball. It's 3-2 again. He swings and misses at a heater roped on the inner upper corner. Great pitch.

It's up to Luke Adams now. Two down.

Adams looks at a heater up and dead center. 0-1. He swings and fouls back a dead center heater. 0-2. He fouls a heater on the outer half to the 1B side seats. Still 0-2. He hacks away another upper corner outer half heater. And Adams grounds out weakly to SS stumbling out of the box.

2-2 and we head to Xtras. Man, that was a golden opportunity. They couldn't put any meaningful wood on those heaters.

Some really poor situational hitting from the Mudcats today. They have had a runner on 3rd with 1 out 3 times today and haven't scored in any of those 3 situations.

I mean if you have a struggling reliever, I would much rather they inherit a clean inning instead of a bases loaded jam in a 2-run game. 1st and 2nd would have been a much better spot for Rodriguez as well.

Jesus Chirinos with a brutal day at the plate.

1st AB - 1st and 3rd with 1 out and he grounded into an inning ending double play

3rd AB - runner on 2nd with 0 outs and he strikes out

4th AB - runner on 2nd with 0 outs and he strikes out

Rough day of situational hitting for the Mudcats today.

Hey RHP Blake Whiting. Here, make your full affiliate debut in the top of the 9th inning with a man on second and nobody out.

Whiting pitches a scoreless 9th. Hopefully the Mudcats can walk it off.

Kay-Lan Nicasia rips a line drive right at the 1B. Guilarte with some poor baserunning is easily doubled off at 2B. To the 10th we go. Whiting might need to put up another 0 because the Mudcats offense has been non-existent today.

Bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th with 1 out and Luke Adams strikes out on 3 pitches. Carolina simply beating themselves today. This game should have been over a long time ago.

Jeferson Quero hit his 15th homer to give Biloxi a 2-1 lead, though CF-Rod uncharacteristically coughed it back up. Shuckers trail 3-2 in the 3rd inning.

Wood Ducks were able to bring the runner in from 2nd on their 4th try. Let's see if the Mudcats can match and send it to the 12th.

Wood Ducks bless the Mudcats with a passed ball on a cross up to get Chirinos to 3rd. 1 out and 2-0 count. Let's see if the Mudcats can bring a run in from 3rd with less than 2 outs for the first time today on their 5th try.

Estevez goes all in, sending in his last two position player substitutes - Juan Baez to pinch run, Luis Castillo to pinch hit. Mudcats trail 3-2 with the bases loaded and one out. Drive these runs in!

Guilarte draws a BB. Runners on the corners.

Luis Castillo up......AND HE RIPS A DOUBLE TO DEEP RIGHT FIELD TO SCORE GUILARTE TO BRING IN BOTH RUNNERS. MUDCATS WIN!
