The Big Woo is actually my favorite nickname for him.

Bonus points if you know the movie reference...

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Unfortunate aspect of being ace. You typically get matched against the other team's best pitchers and consequently receive relatively little run support. Yesterday happened to be matched against the best pitcher in baseball this year.

I don’t think that’s really true about Burnes or any other ace typically being matched against the other team’s best pitcher.

All teams have their rotations and for the most part they put out the pitcher whose turn it is.

Maybe on Opening Day most everyone starts their ace but it doesn’t take long for those rotations to get out of synch due to off days, rainouts, some teams using 6 man rotations, etc.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

The rarest of the rare. A brewer pitcher throwing complete game.

Yeti, Big foot, and Alien sighting are far less rare.

Some have given Megill the nickname "Sasquatch".

I want the CGSO

Saw the three hit complete game shutout Houser threw against the Cardinals a couple years ago in person. The next day was the walk off Vogelslam.

This has been quite the way to comeback after yesterday. And I'd like our chances in most playoff series if Burnes and Woody pitch like this.

Low stress innings and desire to create a true extra off day for a team playing 17 straight.  If we had an off day this Thursday I don't think he comes out.

The BP is destroyed. Got a good chance to rest them. And I guess CC wanted to give Woo the chance to finish as its a big acomplishment

The distribution is more important than the raw total. Only one inning over 20 pitches, and next to zero high stress pitches.

I think if CC had come out to pull him he might have went back to the dugout missing some teeth.

The DL stint a month ago is meaningless.  He isn't limited in any way.

If the BP wasn't burnt out last night, I'd guess he only does 7 or 8 innings.  But I'm guessing Woo fought for the right to go back out and sometimes you gotta let an Ace just do it.
