A Williams deal may depend on a couple of things:

1. Are the Brewers doing a semi-reboot in 2024 (deal Burnes, Adamas)? If so, then dealing Williams makes sense if a deal works.

2. The return. Don't deal him if the return isn't worth it. Simple.

I'm not sure the Brewers even know what their plan is...

Agreed, I would almost want 3 solid pieces for him.

I know that all of the 5 guys the Braves traded for Bummer lost value last year but if it was just Sorotka for Bummer I would say the Braves got ripped off. Bummer was awful, advanced stats are kinder but still not good.

If those trade values for relievers stay I would trade Payamps, Wilson, Milner, and Williams and role the dice on finding some more out of no where guys.

If they do trade Burnes, and that seems inevitable at this point, they might as well trade Williams too.

Having the best closer in baseball doesn't make a lot of sense if we don't have much of a starting rotation.  The rest of our bullpen should be able to handle the closing duties.

This sucks.

Makes a lot of sense to trade Williams. Relievers never get monster returns, but 2 rather cheap years of one of the very best relievers in baseball should get a pretty good return. Back end of the bullpen with Payamps, Uribe, Megill, Milner was really good, and guys like Peguero, Bukauskas, Wilson were good too. Finding or developing relievers is one thing this team always does well. Of course losing someone like Williams will still be felt, but he was also never going to get extended (Correctly so; long-term reliever extensions are a trap for smaller budget teams) so just making sure it happens earlier and gets a return. When you have the ability to find solid relievers for nothing, trading from that strength to improve elsewhere is just good business.
