Wisconsin Press Release -

Adams Wins Midwest League Player of the Month Award for July
Timber Rattlers infielder leads MiLB in OBP

GRAND CHUTE, WI – Minor League Baseball has named Luke Adams as the Midwest League’s Player of the Month for July.  Adams, the #15 prospect in the Milwaukee Brewers system according to MLB Pipeline, led the Midwest League in RBI, walks, on-base percentage and OPS last month.

Adams, a twelfth-round pick of the Brewers in the 2022 draft, drove in seventeen runs and walked 21 times in July while compiling an OBP of .536 and an OPS of 1.124.  He also hit five homers and stole eight bases in 21 games during July.  Adams leads all levels of full-season Minor League Baseball in OBP for the season at .452.  He also leads all MiLB in being hit by pitches.  Adams has been hit by pitches a club-record 31 times in 88 games during the 2024 season.

There have been three previous Timber Rattlers to win a Midwest League Player of the Month Award since the beginning of the 2021 season.  Korry Howell (May, 2021), Joey Wiemer (September, 2021), and Tristan Peters (May, 2022).  Justin Bullock (June, 2021) and Cameron Wagoner (August, 2023) are Timber Rattlers who have been named Pitcher of the Month since 2021.

Baseball America has listed their 2024 MiLB Best Tools, which is where the league managers vote on the top prospects. And the Timber Rattlers appear often. I will not cut and paste the article or put any specific content, but highlight a few of the TRats who were noted. I don't think this violates any rules as I am summarizing what was there, and picking only a few players.

(Note: only one player was listed for each section for each league, so this means the managers voted the player as the best [insert title] here in the entire Midwest league)

1. Luke Adams - best strike zone judgement (absolutely no surprise at all!!)

2. Dylan O'Rae - best base runner, obviously he is now at AA Biloxi, but no surprise either.

3. Craig Yoho - best change up, which is probably the best change up in all minor leagues, and he would be voted as Southern league if this were taken now I imagine.

4. Jadher Areinamo - best defensive 2nd baseman. Which is an honor and speaks to his great D.

5 Gregory Barrios - best defensive SS, what an IF we had there. Obviously he has moved on.

6. Luis Lara - best defensive OF AND best OF arm. No surprise, he is a MLB caliber OF defensively.

But the two I want to highlight the most:

Luke Adamsbest defensive 3rd baseman - wow! That was a nice surprise. The MWL managers either see the player he is and are guided by that (like gold glove which isn't always best defensive player), or he is really deemed that good and may stay long term.

Victor Estevez - best Manager prospect. Not a shocker to those who follow closely. He was amazing with Carolina last year, and lead one of the best clubs, talent and fundamentals in the MWL. He is a gem and future MLB manager.

Congrats to these guys. Again the league managers voted on this, not just BA or some fans so that is some real compliments to the amazing team that Wisconsin has had most of the year. I can edit again if this is needed, but other than the name and the title of the distinction the rest is my own words, so hopefully BA will be OK with this summary.

With the Timber Rattlers calling up Yophery Rodriguez and Mason Molina, it unlocks a childhood memory.

The softball league I played in would have a tournament with all the teams at Lakeside Park, and one year a team completely replaced everyone with totally different and much better players. They had been pretty bad all year, but handily won the tournament.

Hopefully these two players do the same for the Timber Rattlers.
