The Mudcats have nothing to show for it but they've hit several hard balls. Walling lines out at 101 mph directly to the SS. Two down in the 3rd for the Muddies. Briceno finally gets a hit to fall on another liner. The leaping 2B couldn't snag it tho he knocked it down.

Meanwhile, Tayden Hall just hit a two out oppo double down the LF line. It tailed and looped into the shallow LF grass and to the line. He beat the throw by a matter of inches on the tag.

Di Turi robbed on a deep liner to RF. What an effort. Jared McKenzie robs Di Turi of an RBI double there. That ball: also rocked. Sheeesh. Bad luck for the Muddies early. Fully stretched out sliding snare.

Tayden Hall with a heads up play taking 3B when the catcher drops a high heater in front of the plate. The throw to 3B sails into the LF grass. T-Rats now lead 1-0. Fernandez goes down swinging to end the inning on a high heater above the zone. On to the bottom of the 2nd.

After a fly out to RF on an 88 mph floater directly to Walling, Corniel walks the nexst batter on four pitches. Man on first. One down. 0-0 game. Top of 4 pitch count at 28 after a ball to start the next batter - that's five straight as we have a mound meeting.

A high heater for a full count on the next batter and Garcia throws an absolute dart into the sliding path of the base runner. Why are you stealing there? Makes little sense after a four pitch walk and the count full. That was a great jump, no less, but essentially a potential wasted out with Corniel showing some fragility in the fourth. Yep, he walks the next batter as well. Two down. Man on first again.

Runner takes 2B on a huge secondary lead. Corniel doesn't adjust or see him. Takes 2nd easily. Next batter ripped a liner to CF but Yophery Rodriguez once again shows his defense; aggression; and arm by throwing a one-hop strike to home plate nabbing the runner by a good 5'. Just a fantastic throw. End of the inning. Still 0-0 but Corniel showed some rough moments in that frame.

Dylan O'Rae, for his absolute lack of HR power, certainly has warning track power in his young bag. It is just a matter of time for him to get the strength and improved distance. I've seen him rock some absolute bomb flyouts BUT they land to the short porch of the warning track. They just don't carry over the wall. Off-season strength programs might change that in coming seasons. He flies out to the deep shallow warning track of right CF to end the T-Rats 3rd.

Meanwhile, after Pratt went down swinging on a slider down and away, Daniel Guilarte found the CF grass and a looping liner. Yophery slides in before the relay home to grab the first run of the ball game. 1-0 Mudcats. Yophery had to hold up a moment to see if the liner would drop. Heck of a slide to beat the throw and tag. Bang-bang play. Guilarte takes 2B on the throw home - heady play there. David Garcia will try to add to the lead.

Garcia oppo liner single through the 3B/SS gap. Guilarte has to hold at 3B. Meanwhile, Kuehner K's 2 and then Kuehner and Hall PO their second man heading early to 2B. Thanks for the Outs, Whitecaps (whose base running issues continue - a season long issue).

Ahhhhhhh, Luke Adams had to show off his wild arm from 3B didn't he? He takes a hop deep and throws a classic Adams short-armed short-hop that bounces over Hall's reach and to the stands. Runner advances to 2nd to start the 4th. He does that too much for my liking, unfortunately. Tools for days, yes. AND, so much RAW.

Meanwhile, another swinging K on the Corniel slider. 7 K through 5. He is dialed. Outside those two walks in the 4th, he is pounding the zone. Fantastic outing.

Runner advances to 3rd on a deep sac fly to RF. Kuehner gets a shallow pop out to a charging Vargas in shallow LF. That's two down as the T-Rats look to work around the Adams throwing error.

Walling gets a hit! Finally his contact finds the grass. A seeing eye grounder into CF. And, Briceno grabs another knock on a grounder through the 3B side. Two men on. Nobody down. Di Turi hits into the DP (unlucky night for the youngster) so Walling is at 3B with two down.

AND, Adams makes amends by charging a chopper and throwing mildly accurately to 1B as Hall stretches high and corrals it. Kuehner works around it without surrendering a run.

Meanwhile, after a Tayden Hall free pass, Eduarqui Fernandez smacks a double to the left CF gap. Men on 2nd and 3rd. One down. Looking to add some insurance runs to extend the 1-0 lead.

Would like to have seen Di Turi bunt to move over runners

Fair ask. He has the tools to do it me thinks. He's had some bad luck contact.

8 K's now for Corniel. My goodness. 12 " of induced vertical break on the slider. A season-high in punch outs. That had 2500 RPM of spin as well. I think it's fair to say the slider is working against righty bats tonight. 2-1 game. 1 down. 1-1 count. 8 punch outs. Pitch count at 71.

Lara absolutely robbed of an RBI oppo knock down the 3B line. Heck of a diving stab. Throw to 1B from the knees. Threat ends. Zero runners cross.

Meanwhile, we have a mound visit after a one out poke single to RF against Corniel. Bullpen is warming up.

Misiorowski with one of his worst innings of the season in the 1st. Basically all the contact against was hard and he had 2 HBP and 1 BB.

David Garcia has been electric throwing to 2B tonight. He grabs the second out nabbing another runner trying to take 2B. Two down. Corniel will look to make it through this inning. Whewwwww. Another K. High heat. Slider and high heat are the strikeout pitches tonight. Change-ups for swings and misses early in the count to lefties. Just a fantastic outing.

You mean that guy who no-brainer should already be pitching with the Brewers? Oh, that guy? Not surprising. This has been largely a major step back season for Miz, unfortunately.

How about Corniel with 9 K in 6 IP? Absurd work tonight. Just dialed. LOVE what we are seeing from Rodriguez and Corniel. This was a huge bounce back outing.

Meanwhile, Kuehner just gave up the tying RBI ona. looping single to LF. One down. 1-1 game in the 5th. Runner advanced to 2B. Lotta ball game left.

I may be starting to relent and give in to the Misiorowski to the ‘pen crowd.

I am having Nick Neugebauer flashbacks here - granted I never really watch him pitch in the minors as MiLB.TV didn’t exist them, but his stats were all over the place - great outings, poor outings, wild outings and IDK outings…..

‘Brewers seem to be better at developing guys without incredible stuff and getting a few great seasons out of them pitching. Woodruff and Burnes were the rare “have stuff” and “developed well” as far as starting pitching.
