Civale would make a lot of sense for the Angels. Find some lotto ticket and send Aaron on his way.

The Angels farm system is basically a lottery ticket.

I think the best outcome would be someone like Luis Robert Jr. in a Civale + trade.  Something like Robert and cash for Civale and Carlos Rodriguez makes some sense here.

Why would the White Sox want Civale?

More about getting Rodriguez than Civale.  Civale is basically just a salary equalizer.

Why would the white Sox ever do that? Eventhough he is having a down season, Luis Robert is >>>Rodriguez

He definitely is not with his salary.  His salary right now is limiting his trade value.  I wouldn’t be surprised if the White Sox decline the 2026 option as it is only a $2mm buyout.  Plus I doubt many teams will give up anything better than Rodriguez.

The only way the White Sox get a better return is if they eat a majority of Robert’s contract or take on another bad contract in return.  Robert has very little to no value right now.  If the Brewers offered up Rodriguez for Robert right now without the White Sox paying any of Robert’s remaining salary I think they take it and run.

Didn't even know this happened.

06/13/25Milwaukee Brewers recalled LF Drew Avans from Nashville Sounds.

I bring this up every year around now and know that it isn't going to happen. So let me down easy. Jose Ramirez with 3 and 1/2 years left, at almost 33. Any chance the Guardians would trade him?

I get that the Guardians owe him a lot for taking a reduced deal and he his the best Guardian since Thome/Manny. However other than Steven Kwan they have no offense and even there pitching is iffy.

Pratt, Quero, Wilken/Adams, Hunt, and Wichrowski

They get 3 bat upgrades and 2 upside pitchers. We get a piece that gives us a WS chance and we could trade him in 2 years and get most of that prospect value back.

No. Also would take way more than that to get him.

Thanks for letting me down easy. Maybe in a couple years when he has less control.

With Rhys out the next month the deadline plans become even more tricky. We really need a power bat in my opinion but with Rhys due back we would want there to be a spot for everyone in August and hopefully the playoffs. After Woody's performance today we clearly have the most pitching depth in the league, with Myers, Henderson, Patrick, Cortes, and if you count Gasser or CarRod that would probably be a top 20ish rotation in the league.

With maybe a need to support 3B, SS, 1B, and LF there could be many options. EugenioSuarez is probably the obvious answer at this point he can help at 3B, probably play some 1B and DH some if Yeli plays more LF. Wilyer Abreu or Jarren Duran could be interesting players as well. Ryan O'Hearn would fit pretty well also because he can play 1st/OF as well.

Chad Patrick, Rhys Hoskins, and Cooper Pratt for Wilyer Abreu and Aroldis Chapman

Eugenio Suarez for Brett Wichrowski, Juan Baez, and Nestor Cortes (can be flipped if dbacks want.

Then next offseason get the best higher level SS prospect for Pratt. I would hate to give up Pratt however.

The Dbacks probably won’t trade Suarez.  The Dbacks still see themselves as a playoff team.  They also just got about $1bn to redo their stadium so I think they will be hesitant on trading players from their MLB club.  If they do trade someone I think it will be Naylor and not Suarez.  They may also trade their pitchers.  For whatever reason they are extremely hesitant or unwilling to trade Suarez.

If the Dbacks do put Suarez on the trade market you will have to give up someone like Luis Pena as the headliner.  There will be a lot of teams bidding for Suarez which will increase the cost to acquire him.  Suarez is not a superstar that I would be comfortable in giving something up for.

A top 50 prospect for a rental? Those days are over.

There hasn’t been a superstar player traded in a while who would be a rental.  Closest would be Soto but he had a few years of control when the Padres got him.  If there was a superstar bat or starter you would see a top 50 prospect moved.

For Suarez I just don’t see the Dbacks giving him up for anything less.  They have this weird attachment to him and still see themselves as a playoff team.

Suarez isn't a superstar. No idea why you would even try to compare him to a Soto level player.

It's a fun exercise to play scout and find the prospect fits.

Looking at Quintana.. most teams could use a starter but I'm looking mainly at the top 4 in the AL East + Houston. I could be wrong here but I'm thinking we are looking towards the bottom half of a team's top 10 for a match or so if the return is a prospect.

7 of the Yankees top 10 prospects are arms. If I'm Milwaukee with Quintana I'm probably starting at Lalane and working up with any of the 4 arms they have in A ball currently.

I like the righty Pecko in Houston. I also think Joseph Sullivan fits the Brewers mold of outfielders. Jackson Nezuh strikes out a lot of guys and seems to be raw.

re: Boston.. their AA squad the SeaDogs have a couple of fun arms. Any of Sandlin, Early, or Tolle would be really cool to add.

Would the Blue Jays kick us Johnny King as the ultimate lottery ticket? I kind of like Sean Keys, but I feel like we would be adding a 3b version of Blake Burke that needs to move to 1b soon enough as it is and they are parallel in their developmental stages right now. I would take Carson Messina randomly too. Easy 98mph out of high school.

Harrison or Hill from the Rays. Easy peasy. I like the young SS they have in Santana too... again seems like a Brewers player, fast and easy defense.

Of course none of this means anything ... I'm just a dufus watching Twitter clips. But it is fun to grind and play GM for a minute.

I would love that but I think that is high, we almost gave Civale away (I know Vaughn has been good for 2 games) and he had 4 solid starts. I would be overjoyed if we could get 1 one those for Nestor.

The Yankees do make the most sense for Nestor if a team were going to take a chance on him given the year he has had because of the obvious history.
