The Sounds still trail 4-3, now in the top of the 9th with Dunn, Clarke and Alfaro facing some old guy name Kimbrel.

Dunn got the leadoff walk, Clarke K'd, Alfaro flew out to opposite field and Seigler hit a single the other way, potentially setting the stage for Ernesto (if healthy) to do some pinch hit damage. Instead, Delgado bats and grounds out to first. Sounds lose 4-3 due to one poor inning.

Darn. I turned it on and saw the Siegler hit, and was thinking there may be something Brewin' here.

But the Delgado grounder - hard hit as it was - was right at the 1B. Bummer.

Meanwhile, Wilken draws a walk in Columbus - imagine that ;)

Did I miss something - no MiLB TV feed for Biloxi/Columbus after the top of the 6th inning??

I mean they do have the 6th inning up - Adams just crushed that homer. Man it is nice to see him jack a few the past couple of nights.

Posted

So I watched the Biloxi first few innings. Coleman Crow looked very sharp mid 1st through the 3rd. He had two quick hits in the 4th - both on the second pitch of the at bat and nothing bad. But he was close to 60 pitches and I guess they figured let him leave with a lead. Petersen dominated.

Batting - I didn't watch all. Lara was patient. Adams looks more confident at the plate. Brock Wilken doesn't look good. He is taking pitches and getting a lot of balls, but rarely seems zeroed in, not great from what I watched. The rest of the line up is as expected - Miller, Warren etc.

The video cut out in mid 6th on MiLB TV, so not sure. But it is now 7-2 Shuckers in the 8th. Tyler Bryant on after an heroic 3 IP by Petersen and solid inning by Costello.

And Bryant gives up a HR - ugh. Still 7-3 Shuckers and only 5 more outs to get.

I am knee-deep in the vintage LHP Nate Peterson experience here in the fourth frame. Hopefully, he can escape with the 3-2 lead. He inherited two. He is showing the classic hangers and the classic inability to maximize in favorable counts. His hot and cold career stays right on its tracks. Dig deep, young man!

Hey now! He escaped! Woot. Swinging K. Well done, Nate.

I had guests come over unexpectedly so I am just getting into the fifth frame @ Columbus 😅

Well, now I'm knee deep in a vintage RHP Evan McKendry outing at Gwinnett. Dueling boom/bust relievers tonight for this ol' farmer!

Posted

Well I guess it is good I don't have the feed right now - Tyler Bryant having a hard time getting that elusive 3rd out.

Single, steal, double, single and it's 7-5. I would love to watch the game, the description of the last hit by Columbus is as follows:

"Cody Milligan singles on a line drive to catcher Darrien Miller, deflected by center fielder Luis Lara. Keshawn Ogans scores. Cody Milligan to 2nd."

Not sure how that works???

EDIT: Well video is back. And that is just a line drive to CF, and Lara threw is home, not sure how that description in GameDay was intended, but that is a bizarre description for a single to CF

Ahhhhh, the Ollie Dunn is playing shortstop ?!? experience. He can't corral a hard hit one hop liner. Should have made that play by my eyes. Suddenly, the Sounds trail 4-3. AND, Mckendry is doing that McKendry thing where he is hanging all his off-speed. He is such a boom/bust reliever.

EDIT to Add: Upon review, that's a pretty tricky very hard hit short hop at Dunn. I don't begrudge his inability to pick that. McKendry is just getting hit around.

Whoa. I just saw that Luke Adams 2-run jack. My goodness. Talk about an absolute rocket shot. He has absolutely capitalized in consecutive nights on two belt high hangers. He expands his Southern League RBI lead baby. Whewwww.

The announcer just proclaimed that was the longest home run he has seen out to left field at the Columbus ball park. That shot went over the scoreboard.

Biloxi - this is how the offense rolls.

Warren grounds out, then Adams walks (again checks a swing and a couple of close pitches), then Miller walks, and then Rodriguez get HBP. Bases juiced. One out.

Let's get some of those runs back and extend the lead.

Restituyo swinging at pitches after the pitcher walks 2 and hits 1 batter. Huh?? Why are you chasing.

Up to Spain to extend the lead. Let's go Shuckers!!

Yeah, that feed left with the Shuckers up 6-2 in what the sixth frame?! Nice touch. Classic Minor League viewing experience. LOL. Boooooo!

Do you have a feed now? My feed still proclaimed "Commercial Break".

And it's not up to Spain. A wild pitch makes it 8-5.

Then Spain grounds out. On to bottom of 9. three run lead, and should be Yeager to hopefully close it out. Please, let's go Shuckers.

Came back sometime in bottom 8 I think. Now I can't go back more than like 2 minutes, so I don't know when the feed came back , but definitely back by bottom 8.

Spain had swung at every first pitch in his first four AB. Did he do the same in his final AB?

The Shuckers have scored a run three separate innings without a hit. Incredible. Did the Clingstones borrow RHP Yerlin Rodriguez tonight - I didn't see him. Hey now!

Zoinks. Spain just get out of Lara's way.

A three base error for a big big fella. That was popped high and plent of time. Not a great play in the 9th. That extra run the SHuckers got looms large.

Posted

Yeager! Works around that 3 base error.

Nice play in left center by Lara. His defense is good.

Big win again. 8-5 Shuckers now 12-11??? Winning record. Whoa

They'll credit Spain with the error there. Probably should have caught it regardless but Lara tried to cover a lot of ground there, ran into Spain's zone, and I didn't see either player communicate the call clearly. Ugly play.

But, hey, credit to Yeager for getting the K and the fly out to end it.

The Shuckers are above 0.500 baby. Not pretty but they got it done.
