A single to RF scores 1. The heady Spain catches Simpson rounding 2B (very likely thinking the runner at 3B was heading home) and they get the second out in the run down. Two down. 1-0 Biscuits.

AND, just like that, Wood fails to corral an inside heater. That has to be scored a Passed Ball - classic Wood snafu. Knowing Minor League scorers they'll credit that a WP. 2-0 Biscuits. Wood has to catch that ball. It was off target, yes. BUT, it was still very catchable. Goodness.

Now Made throws down the RF line and Burke can't corral it falling off the bag. Runners on the corners again. Still one out.

SO, we have the Shuckers stranding the bases loaded with not a single ball even entering the infield. And, now we have the WP/PB and throwing error. Glorious. 2-0 Biscuits. One down. Runners now on the corners.

Barrios steals 2B. Wood has been having a seriously hard time transferring balls to his throwing hand the past two starts I've seen of his. He double pumps there and Barrios beats it.

Wichrowski ends his inning with another K swinging - foul tip into Wood's mitt. Nice escape given the circumstances. He salvages Made's throwing error with a shutdown effort. 2-0 Biscuits.

Manfredi grooved one and Simpson just crushed it to deep left.

Then a fly out, now walks the next batter.  OK feeling really hard to get back into this one with how the Biscuits pitching has been.

Posted

And then he walks Gregory Barrios with a few non-competitive pitches.

Boy, not good.  Gotta hope Manfredi can get himself out of this jam and get some innings tonight. Don't want to use the whole bullpen in game 1.

Manfredi gets a key out. Then gets a ground to the right of the infield and Burke just butchers it. He goes in hard and can't field it with it bouncing off his glove. A run scores, 4-0 and Manfredi is now out. Just a brutal inning, came in down 2-0 and within striking range, now it's 4-0, new reliever in runners at the corners.

First pitch to Homer Bush, and it's 5-0 now.

And putting insult to injury they score the error by Burke a "single".  I mean helps Burke out, but that is an error sadly. Should be batting here. Instead just trying to avoid the hole getting too deep.

And Areinamo flies out to LF.

Letson is in for the 5th, after the offense gets only 1 hit.

Letson gets a K, then a single, and a fly out, and a beautiful 94 on the corner and that's the inning. Very nice work by Bishop Letson. Looks ready for AA full time next year (assuming he stays healthy)

Adams got absolutely plunked on the helmet. I mean he is a HBP machine, but this was scary. But he pops up right away. He stays in the game.

So Shuckers with 3H (Lara, Wood, Spain) and 2 BB (Wilken and Adams), and now 2 HBP (Adams x2).

SO Adams on base all three times without getting a ball in play. The rest of the team not very much.

Top of 4: Wilken K 😔, the Adams HBP (I mean of course), but Wood & Warren both K.

Manfredi in for the 4th inning.

More importantly, here, is the fact (touched on by the Biscuits announcer) Manfredi had to come aboard because something happened to Wichrowski in his warm-up for the fourth inning. This was definitely not planned. It wasn't pitch count related. Something happened. So many sighs. Wichrowski really looked fantastic regardless of that silly second inning. This is not a good development whatsoever, obviously.

And Will Simpson greets him with a HR. 3-0 Biscuits. Yikes.

0-2 pitch. Can't happen. Definitely can't happen in this type of game. Wayyyy too much dead center. Hanging slider that came back door to absolutely dead center.

missed that. I was pausing and fast forwarding, and multi-tasking as well 🙄

Bummer. Hopefully he is OK.

He was seen back in the dugout. Hoping it was precautionary. Regardless of this series, Wichrowski is scheduled to appear in the AFL. He needs those reps.

Well, trailing 7-0 in the 9th inning in a 3-0 count, 3B Luke Adams - who had been plunked twice in the game and straight off his helmet in his last AB - absolutely crushed a pull shot over the LF wall. 7-1 game. Yay?
