Brewers Minor League Link Report (9/21): Kahle Leads Nashville’s 15-Hit Barrage in Season-Ending Victory

In their final week of the 2025 season, Nashville claimed a 4-2 series victory at Louisville, ending the campaign with a terrific record of 85-63.

Via a Sounds’ press release, game details: Nick Kahle Four-Hit Afternoon Prevails Sounds to Season Finale Victory

In a clear-cut reminder that every single Minor League player is a legitimate Major League prospect, the Sounds’ #8 and #9 batters stole the show in the 2025 season finale, with OF Jimmy Herron (2-for-5) collecting the team’s first hit (a 3rd inning solo homer) and C Nick Kahle wreaking havoc on Bats’ pitching from start to finish.

After starting RHP Alexander Cornielle (4 1/3 IP, 2 R, 4 H, 2 BB, 1 HBP, 6 Ks) conceded a first inning homer to Louisville’s 21-year old OF Hector Rodriguez for the second time this week, then escaped a bases loaded, nobody out jam in the second inning (pop out and 2 Ks), Herron’s 351-foot shot knotted the game, Kahle delivered a 103.7mph single and OF Daz Cameron (2-for-5) crushed a 419-foot, 2-run shot for Nashville’s first lead at 3-1.

While both teams stranded their fair share of baserunners in the middle innings, Louisville’s utility man Levi Jordan was busy playing all nine positions, conquering the infield spots for 4 frames, then the outfield for 3 innings, with Louisville also exciting their 5,100 fans by tying the game with a 2-out, 2-run single off LHP Brian Fitzpatrick in the bottom of the 7th inning.

Jordan then went to the mound to face 3 batters to commence the 8th inning, conceding a single to SS Freddy Zamora (2-for-5) before inducing a force out and being let down by an infield error. Facing an actual professional pitcher again (RHP Buck Farmer), Kahle delivered his 3rd hit of the game to drive home 2 runs and re-take the lead at 6-4 in the 8th inning.

Having stranded 2 baserunners for Fitzpatrick in the 7th inning, RHP Craig Yoho made quick work of the Bats in the 8th inning, all in all retiring 4 batters in just 13 pitches (10 strikes): 2 Ks, 1 infield fly out, 1 ground out, before OF Jared Oliva (solo homer; 3-for-5) and Kahle (3-run dinger) put the game away in the 9th inning.

Sounds’ Extras:

• Eight of Nashville’s nine batters reached base via hit or walk in the fun-filled game (while the remaining player stole a base), with 6 players having multi-hit games.
• In addition to dominating with his bat, Kahle also threw out a baserunner to end the first inning.
• RHP Blake Holub (1 2/3 IP, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K) and Julian Merryweather (1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 0 Ks) also ended their seasons by throwing up zeros.
• We know that C Jeferson Quero was in St. Louis, added to the Brewers' taxi squad as insurance in case William Contreras couldn't play. It would not be a surprise if several other players (e.g. OF Brandon Lockridge, RHP Easton McGee, Yoho, INF Anthony Seigler, 1B/OF Tyler Black, RHP Carlos Rodriguez) are also kept close by in case they're needed for the Brewers' post-season roster.

Nice win by the Sounds, as they made ... ready for it? ... a lot of noise late in the game. 😁

But Cornielle had a solid start 6K, and only 2 ER, but 95 pitches for 4.1 IP is what has been his problem. I still see reliever in him as pitch count isn't as important.

Craig Yoho - since August 10th he has allowed just 4 walks and 1 ER (2 BB and 1ER in one game in late August), so he has been pretty good. Would love to see him get that control and force his way on to the roster next year, as the club needs some solid relievers.

Finally, a huge shout out to @Ro Mueller @Jim Goulart @Joseph Zarr and @Ben Lepak for the minor league Link Reports!! And the daily minor league game threads as well.  Amazing job (again!) and so much fun. I patterned myself after most of the clubs and was here a lot early, and then mid-season but faded late, but it has been so much fun, and definitely saw several players who could be future Brewers (with health and continued progress) who had some great seasons. Pitching was interesting as no one really took the mantle as a pitcher to watch (last year Yoho and Hunt were those guys), but a lot of depth (particularly in the lower ranks, and a possible logjam in the upper levels if no trades and if all healthy), and the '23-'24-'25 HS pitching classes will be interesting to watch and hopefully a few (like Letson) can distinguish themselves as core prospects.

I know there will be the AFL, but this marks the end of the true milb season. So I will be resting up to get back in shape for next April.

Thanks to those who help set this up and to a lot of the posters in the daily game threads who I won't list specifically since I'll forget someone, but you all know who you are. But I will highlight one poster in @MudcatsfaninBrunsCO who will hopefully still enjoy the game with us now that the Mudcats will officially start their new history as the Wilson Warbirds.

I promise I will! If I could change my username, I would but I don't think I can. I'll be off this till around February once Spring Training starts unless we have Wilson giveaways, single game tickets, and such announced then I'll post about it.

What is the likelihood we keep one of Daz or Oliva? Both are great AAAA players but guys like them seem to switch organizations every year. I would really like to keep 1 if possible for depth purposes but would pay them anything more than a standard vet minor league deal.

I figure Haase, Cameron, Oliva and Delgado each have a chance at finding a Major League deal, but I doubt that we’ll be the ones to give it.

We’re rather outfield-heavy (Chourio, Yelich, Frelick, Perkins, Collins, Mitchell, Lockridge, Berroa, Black/Bauers), Haase and Cameron can’t be optioned, and Delgado isn’t really a shortstop.

At least 2 of them should secure MLB deals elsewhere, I’m guessing.

Of course, if any want to willingly re-up with on a Minor League deal, I’m sure we’ll jump at the chance.
