Don’t let Miz skew the perception of other pitchers. Harrison’s line: 6 shutout, No walks, no runner past first, 3 hits and a Hbp, and he was “not looking great to start the game”?

Genuinely asking did you watch the game? He was averaging 93 on his fastball and wasn't locating a thing through the first three innings. There was literally three comments back to back talking about how he wasn't looking sharp.

Heck even Dom Cotroneo who works for the Brewers was talking about how Harrison wasn't sharp.

If Harrison has some kind of an underlying health issue that's one thing. Otherwise not having your best velo/command and still pitching 6 shutout is about as great a sign as you can see from a young pitcher. And I thought his last couple innings looked especially good.

What was particularly great about the Perkins HR was how it really picked up the whole tone of the inning after the Contreras miscue & the Mitchell K. You come up empty there, it's still 1-0 & maybe the other dugout gets a little jolt.

Watching Sanchez during his time here, he really does do a nice job of helping his pitchers get through lineups. His catching w/Contreras DHing isn't ideal but you gotta do it when a LHP is throwing.

Rockies 14, A's 8. In the top of the sixth. It's good to be home.

I think Sanchez has a lot of the characteristics that people like in William as a catcher. He is good at guiding his pitchers through a game. Not good at the defensive aspects like blocking and his arm isn't what it used to be but he's an elite backup catcher.

I agree with you that he should be in the lineup every time we face a LHP but I'm not sure that is what we will see. That would effectively render Yelich as a platoon bat.

Is Chourio going to make the ASG despite missing the first six weeks of the season? NL OF is very stacked but he's already Top 10 in fWAR.

If there was ever a record that needed an asterix that would be it.

They won’t be there next year and when they are there, it won’t be in the same park.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

He could if he keeps it up, but it is going to be tough. Carroll, Wood and Walker are likely and Crow-Armstrong has hit enough where he probably makes it as well. You could make the case for Chourio or a couple of the others over Soto, but he will likely be voted in and even if he isn’t, he is probably the Mets representative. If he is healthy, Moniak might be the Rockies representative. That would maybe leave one spot for Chourio, Pages, Harris, Cruz, Happ and others.

Yes, I watched the game. I don’t interpret Controneo saying he was not sharp. “Skated through 4” is not a negative. It implies ease. And the fact that an IGT has negative takes? Shocking. Love how you quoted yourself to help make your point. I repeat: not a runner past first base. Zero runs. 80 pitches. Phillies are no joke and he shut them down.

Harrison himself said after the game that he didn't find it until the 3rd/4th inning. Are you going to tell him that he was wrong as well and that he's just being too negative? He says he didn't find his timing and rhythm until the 3rd/4th inning and that Gary was telling him he was moving too slow.

You're talking about results when none of those comments are about results and about his process of pitching. It was abundantly obvious that Harrison wasn't sharp at the start of the game and even he and Gary agree but hey you know best and they are clearly just being negative.

Looking ahead to the Indi... er, Guardians series, the Brewers' announced probables are Gasser, Sproat, and Drohan - thus pushing Miz to Friday in ATL. And, I assume Harrison goes Saturday, which gets me to the part I don't like - Miz and Harrison back-to-back. I like separating them in the rotation for bullpen usage purposes - i.e., more likely to have to chew 4 bullpen innings 3 days in a row. When they're separated, the pen gets some rest days in there.
