Obviously I want the Cubs to lose every game they play ... but I still hold the position I want them well in contention after the All Star break so they dish out some prospects at the deadline.

The Brewers should be on the phone right now with Detroit saying "Listen, we don't actually want Skubal but it is either LA or CHI who will end up getting him and we just want to make sure you get the best trade package possible ... so keep up informed and we will keep the price rising."

A little surprised with this, TBH. They haven't been pitching him on 4-day rest for a while now, presumably with an eye toward long-term preservation. Selfishly, I wouldn't really mind him not pitching the ASG...

Yeah this would require Misiorowski to make the two starts after tomorrow on 4 days rest. I don't think he's made back to back starts on 4 days rest this season.

Maybe it IS selfish, but I've always held the mindset that I couldn't care less about a Brewer playing in the ASG & haven't since I was a kid & got a kick out of hoping to see Lary Sorensen get into the game, or Jim Colborn or whoever. Like Contreras. I'd much rather see him get off his feet for three-four days than monkey around with all that stuff.

I'd imagine it's a big deal for the players though, especially those that haven't had a long history of being selected.

This tells me Murphy knows through channels that Sanchez will be named the starter since the game is in Philly.  Miz getting that honor would be the only point to having him pitch in it.
