I cant think of any I have seen this year worse than that one.

We've bad on the wrong end of quite a few bad challenge decisions before, but that one takes the cake.

That misplay by Pratt might be costly.

Nice job by Drohan to pitch around it.  Cost him 9 extra pitches but at least no runs!

I have the rule book up and I don't see anything about how fast the play developed in regards to the catcher blocking the plate. The closest thing I can find is: "....if the catcher blocks the pathway of the runner in a legitimate attempt to field the throw (e.g., in reaction to the direction, trajectory or the hop of the incoming throw, or in reaction to a throw that originates from a pitcher or drawn-in infielder)"

Only thing that might apply there is if it was a throw from a drawn-in infielder, but a) I don't think the 1B was drawn in, and b) the throw was coming from the first base side, anyway.

I had to take a short walk after that egregious call by the NY officials after the home plate umpire missed both blocking the plate & the late tag. Even if we win tonight, I will be “mad” about the reasoning given by the umpire. So silly.

The Brewers get screwed then minutes later USA gets hosed on a red card.   Soccer hates USA.  Baseball is sick of the Brewers.

I should add that I rewatched the play and paused it a few times. Maybe the catcher was ok because he caught the ball before Mitchell made contact with him. I don't know.

Thing is he was moving his foot further into the baseline before he caught it.

So what determines whether a play is quickly developing or not? The speed of a play is pretty arbitrary.

Drohan nearing the end.

He’s pitched better than Abbott tonight. His only bad pitch was a two-run HR. Good outing. Completing six innings with a quality start would be a bonus.

It was a solid start.
