Pirates getting close on Weaver... [edit: CONFIRMED -- acquired]

The Pirates are trying to finalize a Luke Weaver deal with the Mets, according to the New York Post’s Joel Sherman.

Weaver would most likely be Pittsburgh’s primary closer, giving his value a big boost. He’s going to be more expensive to acquire than the rental relievers, since he’s under contract for 2027.

Agreed. Weaver would be a terrific fit for the Brewers. I imagine the Pirates are going to be giving up a lot for him, though.
