PCA was asked by a group of giggling Cubs’ reporters: “So does Green Bay really suck?”

His response: “Historically, no.”

Translation: “this is getting really cringey, anybody want to ask me about the Cubs rather than than a different team from an entirely different sport?”

My point on Turang was far more situational. It’s a 2-1 game, there are two outs and just a single puts you in front 3-2. You HAVE to attempt to put the ball in play with 2 strikes and 2 outs there, the game potentially hinges on it. It’s a key moment. You CANNOT afford to guess splitter and get caught looking at a fastball to end the inning. If you sit fastball there and end up whiffing at the splitter, so be it. At least the inning isn’t ending with the bat on your shoulders and two runners in scoring position.

you always say that, but it's not that easy.

Strikeouts looking will happen.

Sometimes pitchers are going to throw a breaking ball, splitter, etc. out of the zone with two strikes to get a chase, other times they're going to try to surprise you with a fastball in the zone.

You can't just literally swing at every two -strike pitch 'to put the ball in play'.

I have never advocated for literally just swinging at every two strike pitch.

Again, it’s about knowing the situation and being aware of it with 2 strikes, and letting the situation help dictate how aggressive you’re going to be with your 2 strike guesses,

Nobody on with 1 out in the 3rd is a much different situation than late in a 1 run game with 2 runners in scoring position,
