Qustions about the Hurricaine

Posted

1. Where does he usually bat in the order?

2. Why is he only a second baseman. I'm surprised how staunch the club seems with saying he's 'only a second baseman.' Do the brewers just want to keep him at second, or does he not have the arm for like, short or third?

Was wondering because he may be interesting on the bench in a few years...

I thought I remembered BA saying he was the best defensive infielder in the system a few years ago, or something along those lines. I also remember discussions on this board about moving Weeks to center before he came up because the Hurricane was a far-superior defender. I have never personally seen him play so I don't know, but your comment seems to contradict everything I have heard before. Any additional help would be appreciated.

I forget which member of the braintrust mentioned this is in a pre-season interview with Jim Powell, but Iribarren is limited to second base and is not a ++ defender. I don't believe we've ever seen him anywhere but second base.

Are you thinking of Escobar here? I suspect so...everything I've seen has Hurricane as limited to 2b by his range and arm. I'll try to pull out an old prospect guide when I get the chance.

It is possible I was thinking of Escobar, but I feel like it was earlier, like the year the Hurricane played in the futures game. All I could find at the Baseball Cube was a fielding percentage of .967 and 21 errors last year, not terrible, but not all world. It also says that he has only played at second, but it seems to me that with his stolen base numbers he should be fast enough to play center. Even if he doesn't have an arm, Damon throws like my 3 year old niece and he plays out there.
