I dont even know if he is available, but say we cant get Rolen. I think Giles would be a nice pickup. Could bat in the number 2 spot, hes a lefty, could play center. His power numbers are down beacuse he is playing in San Diego(last year one homerun at home, 12 on the road). I know he would cost a bit & hes 37 or 38. I think he could help.

yeah, giles is a good target as an outfielder...

 

he's one of those rare guys that gets on base at a really good clip without a whole lot of power...

 

i don't think he's really available though...it might help if the pads signed fukudome

The biggest problem is that Giles has a full no-trade clause, if I remember correctly, and plans on retiring with his hometown Padres. It's a shame, since he'd be a good choice to fill the LF spot short-term.

Pass on Giles his hitting skills have been downward for a while and his defense is average.
