Does Bobby Petrino actually want a job?

Well, if things couldn't get any worse for the Falcons, their coach Bobby Petrino resigned abruptly to take a head coaching job with Arkansas. Petrino pulled a "Nick Saban" on this one. The weird thing is ESPN was mentioning the Falcons as being "somewhat of an expansion team" right now after last night's Monday Night Football loss.

They have no legit starting quarterback, as Falcon fans are running Joey Harrington out of town as fast as he came into town once the Michael Vick deal went down. Now they are without a coach and their owner is being accused of racial overtones following the Vick sentencing.

The only thing that can get any worse is if they trotted out fans to coach the team every game.

The real question is who's dumb enough to hire a college coach anymore? They don't work out, and then when their team is sucking they jump ship to go back to a college program. This isn't rocket science people.

I honestly don't understand why these stories are played up so much by the media.

 

Haven't you ever quit a job that sucked? That's exactly what Petrino did. I can't fault him for that. Coaches shouldn't be held to a higher standard than anyone else.

 

Also, anyone accusing Arthur Blank of being racist is out of their mind. In case you didn't catch it, Blank was in the booth on Monday night and said that if Michael Vick doesn't stay in shape and eats fried chicken and french fries every day, he won't have a future in the NFL after prison. Somehow this is being interpreted as a Fuzzy Zoeller-style insult to African-Americans, even though fried chicken is a fairly common meal in the South (probably the equivalent of hamburger + fries everywhere else). It's painfully obvious that Blank didn't mean any harm by his comments. It's a shame that people are dragging him through the mud over this.
