    Scouting Report

UPDATE: Jim Callis has reported that Knoth has signed under slot for his draft position.

Knoth is another prospect who wasn't on V1 of the consensus board. A prep arm from the northeast, he's taken significant strides forward in 2023. Knoth is a smaller framed pitcher, but has a simple, repeatable delivery and good athleticism on the mound. His arsenal consists of a fastball that operated between 90-92 mph but now typically sits in the 93-95 mph range after a velocity jump. It's likely he'll be able to add velocity to this pitch. He has a real ability to spin the ball, having a curve that surpasses 3,000 rpm, gets a ton of good depth, and that he can land for strikes. Knoth also has a changeup that's more of a work in progress. Knoth has been dominant this season and is one of the buzziest helium prep arms in the draft. Knoth is committed to Mississippi.

    Spencer Michaelis:
Knoth might have the highest ceiling of the Brewers' day one selections. His profile was extremely enticing, even when he only threw his fastball in the 90-93 range (T95) last summer. This spring, however, he was up to 98 and sitting more in the 94-95 range. The fastball has good life at the top of the zone and pairs extremely well with what might be the best secondary offering in the entire system the moment Knoth signs. That offering being his hammer curveball. It’s a 3000 RPM pitch with late bite and a ton of movement. He has a smooth delivery that appears to be easily repeatable. Still only 17, Knoth’s upside on the mound might be second only to Jacob Misiorowski in the Brewers system.
