  1. You're the PrinceFielderx1 of brewerfan.net. That's a little harsh. That guy flat-out sucked.
  2. Braun is going deep here - 5th inning. Nevermind. I'm done making predictions.
  3. I haven't been able to watch either one of his starts. Is it really a possible breakthrough pitch? Trying to temper my excitement, but it's hard. It looks really good; he can throw it for strikes, and guys can't lay off it. I think there is some justified optimism there.
  4. Way to work through that leadoff double, JN. Agreed on his curveball.
  5. Did Lind pull his foot early? The throw beat Polanco but it looked like Lind took his foot off too soon. Ah well. Braun needs some PEDs and those balls will start going over the fence..
  6. I'm curious how much Ron's lineup really changed after he found out a righty was starting.
  7. I don't really think it makes that much of a difference, aside from the righty-lefty matchups we have tonight.
  8. I wish the Brewers had a prospect they could call up and insert him directly into the cleanup spot. Where did Braun bat when he came up in the series at San Diego? I want to say it was like 5th or 6th but I can't remember.
  9. It is an in-game thread; it's going to be full of overreactions. There is an optimism thread that might be more up your alley. When you're out of energy cheering on a team that is go nowhere in a hurry, I'll carry you on over to the negative threads where you'll rightfully belong.
  10. None of the Brewers are doing anything offensively, aside from Adam Lind having a nice couple of games. I know it's easier said than done, but do they know that teams are just tossing them breaking balls on the outer half and they know the Brewers will chase? Swing at slider, take good fastball. You'd think that's the gameplan based on what they've been doing the last week.
  11. This is kind of the way I look at it. The team, if they perform "as they should", can compete. Competing means winning maybe 85 games and being in the hunt. Once you're in the playoffs, maybe management thinks it is anyone's game at that point. This probably doesn't take into account serious injuries and guys just flat-out not performing up to a level they've shown in the past (ding, ding - the team is getting older). Mark A isn't going to take a loss; so he's got to have people telling him how many fans will come with X amount of wins, and how many tickets he needs to sell so he doesn't take a loss. By not over-spending, and by not rebuilding and risking losing ticket sales in the process, he can make a profit. This doesn't mean I think he's a bad owner - clearly he's a good business man and I have no gripes with that. If he would be in favor of a rebuild, that would be a good thing; however, I think he worries that casual fans would get restless and they're likely the majority of Brewer fans. It's hard to blame him for that.
  12. Rock - it doesn't matter how big Carpenter's double was to push it to 3-0. The Brewers aren't scoring today; ain't gonna happen.
  13. It's OK, they'll 'wake up' sometime around July; just in time for them to finish 10 games under .500. Then, they'll keep the team relatively the same because the team had "the best record in night games versus a lefty when they played on a natural surface with the roof open" and rinse and repeat.
  14. Nice to see that Segura likely doesn't have the yips and it was just a mechanical issue - I hope anyway.
  15. Exactly; yes, it's early in the season but it's the same team from the collapse last year doing the same things, both while on offense and while on defense. No one is hitting, no one is hitting anything very hard, and they're chasing the same turrrible pitches. Also the same team from last year that was in first place even playing without a healthier Braun. Bad stretches happen to every team. The slow start has probably crept into the locker room a bit too with ending last season the way they did. A couple guys just need to get hot and it will be infectious. I like your optimism; I wish I could see it that way - I mean that sincerely.
  16. Exactly; yes, it's early in the season but it's the same team from the collapse last year doing the same things, both while on offense and while on defense. No one is hitting, no one is hitting anything very hard, and they're chasing the same turrrible pitches.
  17. Braun's at-bat was over as soon as strike two was called. It seemed like the writing was on the wall that Lackey was going to go back out there with another breaking ball; the low and outside breaking ball is like crack to Brewer hitters.. can't leave it alone, and it kills them.
  18. I don't see any reason to get on Aramis' case while practically the whole team is doing just as bad or worse. Do you not have faith in Lucroy either? Not to mention he is a slow starter throughout his career, I think you can give him some slack for now. Uh, thanks, but if it's OK with you, can I still keep my opinion? Ramirez is also about 8 years older than Lucroy (without looking it up) and is playing the last year of his career. Call me crazy, but I have more faith in Lucroy turning things around 180 degrees than I do in Ramirez. I'll keep in-game gripes to a minimum.
  19. Aramis.. I want to keep the faith in you, buddy, but it's just not there.
  20. Just get this game over with with no more injuries please.
  21. Lind advanced to 3rd on Ramirez' groundout, then Davis failed to get him in when he struck out looking.
  22. Meideros has the easiest mid-90s. There wasn't a gun (from what I saw) in Appleton, but the ball was absolutely exploding out of his hand. From where I was sitting, it was impressive. He's smaller than I thought, but it looks like he can fill in a bit and his size won't hamper him. For such easy mechanics, it was surprising to see the ball come to the hitter so fast. He was really, really good today - a LOT of strikes. Harrison is impressive as he's already a big kid, and he took a bunch of pitches. It looked - again, to an amateur - like he's got a good idea of the strike zone. After a while I wasn't paying much attention, so I didn't see him make a play in the OF. I think I read he's about 220 now, and he looks like he could pack on another 20 and still be very fit - just a really good frame on that kid. Gatewood is another tall kid, but looks real lanky to me. He took a number of close pitches, so maybe he's trying to work counts more. He made an error at SS, but that doesn't really matter to me; it's probably a play he makes 8/10 times. It's hard to see hitters and make a judgement as I'm just an amateur enthusiast; but watching Meideros throw, you couldn't help but be a bit giddy. He looked that good.
