  1. Maybe I'm off base here, but I really liked seeing Gomez bat anywhere but leadoff. I thought he would get more RBI opportunities toward the middle of the order.
  2. I agree, but still looked like he was trying to surprise Longoria who was deep, playing for the double play. He just bunted it too hard.
  3. It looked like Reynolds was bunting for a hit there.. which leads me to believe it wasn't called from the dugout. I could be wrong, tho.
  4. I knew that double play was coming before Braun even came up - they're just in one of those stretches.
  5. "RRR wants the Brewers to be more aggressive on the bases" - uh, you have to get on base first. That's pretty much the biggest problem right now.
  6. It could be worse, we could have blown a 6-run lead like the Nationals did. The Marlins just scored 4 runs in the 9th to beat the Nats. #natitude
  7. Was Gomez walking back to the Ray's dugout? I thought they were in the 1st base side?
  8. I'm pretty sure that's what they've been trying to do in every situation.
  9. Thanks Bob Davidson - continues to be one of the worst umps in MLB.
  10. I'm not talking about making him into a slap hitter. I'm talking about him not swinging at every pitch that comes his way. I don't care how hard he swings, but would rather him start looking for pitches rather than just hack.
  11. I know it's not going to happen, but really wish Gomez would be just a little more patient.
  12. Pretty sure Gomez is going to be out. I thought he was out in real-time. Davidson is doing this series? Oh great, who's going to be thrown out?
  13. True, but the team with the player almost always has leverage - unless of course it's the Phillies and we're talking about Ryan Howard.
  14. Mark Kotsay playing CF in the 2011 NLCS was pretty bad, too.. in fact, I remember a bad defensive play costing the team 2 runs and they lost that game. That might be worse - given the context - than the Shouse/Burrell matchup.
  15. Brian Shouse against Pat Burrell should end this debate real quick. I'm still upset about that.
  16. Didn't think you could trade draft picks. If the Brewers were to - hypothetically - pick up all of Napoli's contract, they definitely have more leverage as far as which prospects they were to give up (LouisEly is correct). The leverage goes down if the Sox agree to take on some salary.
  17. This sums up my frustrations pretty well. The defined inning roles for relievers on this team sure is annoying. Smith is the 8th inning guy, K-Rod the 9th inning guy (though only in a save situation). The 'save' stat is one of my least favorites in MLB, because managers will manage the game to get to the closer for that save stat, regardless of matchups.
  18. Frustrating loss. K-Rod obviously didn't have it after the single to Wright, but he's out 9th inning guy so that's how it goes.
  19. It's right next to the "Keep making your outlandish predictions here" thread.
  20. Would have been nice to make up some ground tonight, but the Cards lost and the Pirates are losing big.
  21. Someone should have been up after Wright's single.
