I would be curious to hear more about the deadline and any deals that were "in the works" but could never get across the finish line. Totally understand fans being a little disappointed but also can understand not wanting to give up prospects for any rental for 56 games.
Really fun deadline otherwise. Looking forward to seeing how some of these trades pan out.
Whenever I see pieces traded that I think might help the Brewers, I'm of two camps:
1) Should the Brewers have made that trade?
2) At least they're not going to the Cubs.
I hope the latter continues and we'll see about the former.
Their long-relief role/spot roles could be extremely valuable as starters are sometimes only going 2x through an order. I think they both have big roles on the team going forward and next year even if in those roles and then getting some spot starts when it makes sense.
That's probably the best way to put it. I don't expect a lot of pop and exit velo from Durbin or Collins (as regulars) but I know they're going to be a tough out and generally make good swing decisions. I am not seeing anything even close to that with Ortiz.
