  1. Yankees finally released the starting times for home games. 28th and 29th are 7:05 and 30th is 1:05.
  2. anything about America's Next Top Model. I should be more embarrassed. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  3. Did you read his fiction book "Downtown Owl"? Excellent book. How does it compare to Fargo Rock City and Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs? I really liked those two but haven't read anything else.
  4. So is anyone going? I was contemplating only because I'd like to get my picture with a few players, but it seems like the whole thing is a pain in the bum.
  5. I don't think there's anything wrong hating the Yankees or any team. I just thought it was only Mets fans who hated more than they loved their own team. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  6. Are we really concerned with this stereotype? Baseball's economic system is out of whack, my favorite team (and many other teams) experience the fallout from that flawed system on a yearly basis, and the Yankees are the embodiment of that problem. Sounds like something to complain about. I don't think there's anything wrong about complaining about the Yankees. My problem is when people think fans of small-market teams care more about hating the Yankees than rooting for their own team. I know it's not true obviously, but it's a disservice to the other fans. So yea I think it's embarrassing to see fans posting untrue information because they see an opening to hate. Or maybe I'm wrong. Look at the Lee thread where people were happy he didn't sign with the Yankees even though the Phillies are direct (esp postseason) competition. Do most fans of small market teams love their team as much as they hate the Yankees? If so, that's pretty sad.
  7. Seems the deal was ownership-driven. LINK
  8. Making angry, exaggerated posts only fuel the stereotype that all fans of small market team do nothing except complain about the Yankees.
  9. I've been a vegetarian for 6 years so if you have any questions, I'll be willing to help. And even though he's not a vegetarian, TLB is a good person to ask since we do live together and he's eaten his share of meatless dishes. There's a lot of reasons to be vegetarian-friendly (health, reduce pollution, reduce famine, reduce dependence on oil, you'll have more energy, save money) besides animal rights or spiritual (which is my main reason). Whenever I tell anyone that I am a vegetarian, they say "Oh, I could never do that." I think the biggest thing is getting away from the mindset that dinner is meat, potato, and a veggie. You also have to like a lot of different types of veggies, beans, nuts, spices or you'll get bored quick. I haven't had the same recipe twice in months but I do have plenty of cookbooks. Anyway, the only time it's hard for me is when I go home and see my mom's meatballs or anyone eating bacon. (If I start eating meat again, bacon's number 1.)
  10. I meant to post this awhile ago but kept forgetting, but Larisa Fraser deleted these accounts. I guess Ryan wasn't happy with my snooping. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/embarassed.gif
  11. One of my favorite movies! So glad to see it named in this thread. I would have so much trouble making a list of must-see movies. Just thinking about it hurts my head. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  12. Edgar Martinez went down in voting percentage. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  13. Because a lot of teams have money but haven't done much to improve this offseason? I lik seeing the Brewers ranked high but it is the offseason. Didn't the Mariners top these lists last year? I would say that I'm not going to get overly excited yet, but to be fair after the Grienke signing it's too late for that. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  14. Maybe they need to be dusted? But this would drive me crazy and I would probably just disconnect them all.
  15. It's one thing that he's immature, but he's also disclosing personal information. I wonder how the current players will feel about talking privately to Guillen knowing their business could be made public.
  16. Are the millions comments suppose to be in blue? Prior gets 750,000 IF he makes the major league team and can make another 750,000 in incentives.
  17. Of course they don't. They just gave up thier best pitcher. I think Marcum is being sold a bit short here. We just acquired a proven very good pitcher under contract for a couple more years for an unproven talent. Explain this to me, because I only saw one very good season.
  18. Braun's page is probably maintained by a publicist, but the updates are his and maybe edited, like Curtis Granderson's page. Braun's girlfriend's page is legit, but her twitter is where you'll see the random Braun picture or info.
  19. Supposedly the Red Sox offered 3/51 and another team (supposedly the Angels) offered 3 years. Still Mariano Rivera is the only player I would believe when he says 'it isn't about the money.'
  20. Mariano Rivera is taking less money and years to stay with the Yankees at 2/30. Even if you hate the Yankees, you have to admit how refreshing it is for an elite player to not just be all about the money.
  21. Brian Cashman is going to rappel down a building with Santa for a community event. I liked this quote:
  22. I think the report of Greinke waiving his NTC for the Yankees is just a way to get other interested teams to up their ante. I only see the Yankees going after him if they don't get Lee.
  23. He's worth the money, but 10/158 is a big risk for a smaller market team.
  24. I agree with the minor league contract. Good risk/reward and no ligament damage to the elbow.
  25. It would obviously be beneficial for both parties for Jeter to be back next year. But there's only one reason why the Yankees would up their offer - for Jeter's pride. He's not going to leave for less and no one is going to pay him more than 3/45. So then why would they change the AAV? Also the Yankees can offer lots of money, but they do operate under a budget and that 15-20 million might be needed to dump Burnett or give them the edge with an international free agent. And why give him more years when Jeter has shown that he won't easily take a smaller role when his bat diminishes even more? Jeter's team's strategy was "I'm Derek Jeter, so pay me" and it backfired. My question is when are they going to realize this failed. ETA: I think what will happen is the Yankees are going to offer a deal loaded with incentives or a team option for a fourth year with a small buyout for Jeter to save face. The Yankees are in no rush to see this get done, but the longer Jeter waits the worse he looks in my opinion.
