  1. For the third time in the last two I had to double check Invader3K's avatar. I see Star Wars and think TooLiveBrew. I know that TheCrew07 has a Star Wars avatar, but I guess I'm used to his picture.
  2. http://imgur.com/LDDJt.gif Or maybe Texas won because only Cano, Granderson and Rivera showed up. Playoffs depend on chance, as does performance with RISP. Small Sample Size. A good example is that Sabathia's an ace, but wasn't dominant... but in ALCS Game 5 he stranded a lot of men on base. Lee has been very dominant, in 8 (?) post season starts, but stunk Game 1 of the World Series... so will he not be pursued as heavily in free agency?
  3. NY Times had a visual feature on World Series gloves from 1910. LINK It's not every year, only 16, but still fun to look at.
  4. TooLiveBrew on Mota vs Cruz: "One player I wish we could have back, and one I wish we never had." I'm rooting for the Giants but had the Rangers in 6, so I'm happy. SCHADENFREUDE!
  5. Truths for Mature Humans 1. I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die. 2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong. 3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger. 4. There is great need for a sarcasm font. (BLUE!!) 5. How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet? 6. Was learning cursive really necessary? 7. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on #5.I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood. 8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died. 9. I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired. 10. Bad decisions make good stories. 11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day. 12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection...again. 13. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page technical report that I swear I did not make any changes to. 14. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call. 15. I think the freezer deserves a light as well. 16. I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lite than Kay. 17. I wish Google Maps had an "Avoid Ghetto" routing option. 18. I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger. 19. How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear or understand a word they said? 20. I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars team up to prevent a jerk from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers and sisters! 21. Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever. 22. Sometimes I'll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still do not know what time it is. 23. Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, finding their cell phone, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I'd bet everyone can find and push the snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time, every time! 24. The first testicular guard, the "Cup," was used in Hockey in 1874 and the first helmet was used in 1974. That means it only took 100 years for men to realize that their brain is also important.
  6. It doesn't seem Bf.net allows polls right now. There would be an option when you start a new thread. I would post the question in the Issues and Events section.
  7. I grew up a Yankees fan, living in Jersey. I regularly post on a Yankees message board and will always stand up for the Brewers. But on bf.net, I don't feel comfortable supporting the Yankees. I'll bite my tongue because I feel like I'm being an [expletive]. This is bugging me. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif
  8. Bengie Molina was traded from the Giants to the Rangers this year, so he'll get a ring no matter what. LINK
  9. Had to share this. Love the big guy in the second row dropping F-bombs.
  10. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Yea I get it's the Yankees, but it doesn't make it any easier to handle when you know your team isn't performing their best. But this isn't the place to complain. BTW, trwi7, please don't lump all us Yankees fans into that post. I post on a message board that has at least a thousand active members and only a hundred are that cuckoo crazy, and I guess even more after being down 3 to 1. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif And yes, that Yankees fan interfering was a tool. I even said to my boyfriend that he was acting as the stereotypical Yankees fan. It reminded me of this.
  11. To be fair though, that double should have been a triple (but he stared at it for a good couple seconds) and that throw would have gotten him at third (because of the bad jump) if it wasn't so offline. He did not impress me that inning.
  12. Tony Gwynn has cancer of a salivary gland. He blames dip. It's such a disgusting habit. LINK
  13. The home-plate umpire in the Rays-Rangers game last night was Randy Wolf's brother.
  14. I count 14 out of the strike zone for Minnesota vs. 2 for the Yankees. To me it's not the size of the strike zone, it's consistency, and both Wendelstedt and Crawford have been inconsistent to both teams. http://www.brooksbaseball.net/pfxVB/cache/zoneplot.php-pitchSel=all&game=gid_2010_10_07_nyamlb_minmlb_1&sp_type=1&s_type=7.gif ETA:I thought Pavano only got one gift strike call, but according to this, he got two. Yea, poor Twins. http://www.brooksbaseball.net/pfxVB/cache/numlocation.php-pitchSel=134321&game=gid_2010_10_07_nyamlb_minmlb_1&batterX=49&innings=yyyyyyyyy&sp_type=1&s_type=1.gif
  15. I think you can add Yankees to the eliminated list. Besides Teixeira and Rodriguez, there is also Posada, Jeter, and possibly Montero. The only reasons why the Red Sox wouldn't pick up the option on Ortiz are because 12.5 is a lot for a DH and he was awful against lefties (OPS .599). Still I'd be surprised if the option wasn't pick up/ Prince ended up there. RE: Zdureincik and Lueke I call BS on JackZ. Not only did a former coach come out and said he did tell Zdurincik before the trade, but Lueke's troubles were reported right after the Lee deal was completed.
  16. It would have to be an extreme example for me to vote a relief pitcher over a starter or everyday position player. It's most valuable, not most effective player.
  17. I read that too and was like, huh? This is the first I've heard of it, and since I couldn't find McCalvy's email, I emailed Haudricourt. He replied back that he wasn't at the game and knows nothing about it. ETA: I found McCalvy's email address and emailed him about it.
  18. To be fair, this isn't a professional newspaper and battlekow is usually very good, but... http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g93/britpanda/Moving%20GIFs/Men-on-Film-2-Snaps.gif ETA: ugh, what jeffyscott wrote is just terrible. I have now given up complete hope for the JS.
  19. I was reading an interview with Yankees hitting coach Kevin Long and wanted to share this part: Q: Boyhood idol? A: I was a Milwaukee Brewers batboy in 1981-'82 in spring training. Cecil Cooper was a guy I emulated as I would swing . . . just how smooth he was . . . he was left-handed and so was I. I loved the way he could use the whole field. He didn't seem to strike out a lot. There was some gracefulness to his swing, kind of like Robby Cano. [/b]
  20. Mariano Rivera loves to shag balls during BP (it's a running joke that he's the Yankees best outfielder) but today I found out that during BP he will sometimes hit a water bottle off the top of a water cooler from center field, for fun. From 380 ft away. Insane. I love him. I want to meet the person who hates him because I don't think that person exists.
  21. Last night Roy Oswalt had to play left field because the Phillies ran out of position players. Also, the other day Werth got picked off second after an intentional walk. Fun times in Philadelphia.
  22. Just want to post to say that hat is awesome.
  23. I would like to see a link, because I find it very hard to believe that the owners would agree to a salary floor since a third of teams would have to add 50% of their current payroll (assuming the floor would be 80% of the cap).
  24. One of my biggest pet peeves is when a fan complains about the Yankees spending money but has no problem with a team like the Pirates profiting over 20 millions while having the lowest payroll. I wouldn't mind seeing a salary cap since it would have to bring a salary floor, but none of the owner would have any of that.
  25. I like medium-sized dogs, but if I was ever going to get a 'drop-kick dog' it would be a chinese crested hairless. They're so ugly they're cute.
