  1. 09/19/2004 - Brewers (Davis) at Astros (Clemens) ESPN2 The Packers lost and the U.S. lost the Ryder Cup, so it's up to the Brewers (shiver) to secure something of a consolation tonight on ESPN2's Sunday Night Baseball. I would assume that Jon Miller and Joe Morgan will be making the call, so check it out and enjoy some rare nationally-televised Brewers' baseball. The Sunday Night Football game is Miami at Cincy, so it's not like anyone actually wants to watch that, right? BYOCS, No RSVP Required, Game Thread Starts At 7PM CDT. Be here. ~Bill
  2. Burgleflickle. That was a heck of a game. Tons of kudos to Geoff for getting on against Lidge... he's really an amazing pitcher. Those eleven hits are really nice, but a few more runs would be great next time. Oh well. ~Bill
  3. The Aussie weapon steals again. Now drive him in, Russ! ~Bill
  4. Yikes... those that are watching, a full report is now required. Boo Kerwin. ~Bill
  5. Jenks with a base hit... Durrington in to run. Best pinch runner in baseball, folks. Like Lenny Harris, Trent is a weapon. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ~Bill
  6. Cool, thanks RoCo. O, Jenks, and Brady against Lidge. Branyan if anybody reaches. Tough assignment, but these probably are our four best hitters. Go team. ~Bill
  7. Yes!!! Cubs lose, Cubs lose.... thaaaaaaaaaaaaa Cubs lose. Is TMJ's feed going bad, or is that just me? ~Bill
  8. Someone must have read that... whomever you are, thank you! Graves just induced a 6-4-3 double-play and now the Reds are one-out away from a win. Wow. Powerful, this brewerfan.net is. ~Bill
  9. Please, everyone: send some positive vibes the way of Danny Graves. He is currently on a little bump of dirt in Cincinnati, Ohio, if that helps you aim. Thank you. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ~Bill
  10. To answer my own question regarding the Brewers' stolen base record, it is indeed owned by John Jaha and shared with Tommy Harper (and now Podsednik). Jaha did it on 09/12/1992... thanks to the wonderful Retrosheet, here's the box score from that game: retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B...AL1992.htm The first was the back-end of a double-steal with Molitor, the second and third were straight steals of (ahem) second and third, and the fourth was a straight steal of second. Pretty impressive. The Brewers beat the Orioles at Oriole Park, 5-to-0, behind a five-hit shutout by Jaime Navarro. ~Bill
  11. Did I hear Uecker correctly before that John Jaha holds the Brewers' record with 4 steals in one game? That would be most unexpected. ~Bill
  12. Lil' Ben is going to start one of the games against St. Louis, as is De La Rosa. And agreed re: the game thread... I wonder what percentage of the WTMJ/radio network audience is currently on brewerfan? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ~Bill
  13. This has been another pretty sweet game... great series, so far, at least in terms of enjoyability. How does it impact the integrity of the playoff race when we take out both of the Astros' catchers on successive days? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif EDIT: Beat me to the punch on the enjoyability factor, MB. It has been fun, though, hasn't it? Now if we could just inch out a win... ~Bill
  14. Standard operating procedure. MILWAUKEE HOUSTON AVG HR RBI AVG HR RBI Scott Podsednik CF .245 11 35 Craig Biggio LF .287 22 57 Keith Ginter 2B .239 14 44 Carlos Beltran CF .258 23 50 Lyle Overbay 1B .307 14 79 Jeff Bagwell 1B .269 24 79 Geoff Jenkins LF .262 24 83 Lance Berkman RF .316 27 97 Brady Clark RF .272 7 41 Jeff Kent 2B .288 22 98 Russell Branyan 3B .259 10 23 Mike Lamb 3B .297 14 58 Craig Counsell SS .234 2 22 Jose Vizcaino SS .274 3 31 Gary Bennett C .224 3 20 Brad Ausmus C .251 5 31 Gary Glover RHP .000 0 0 Pete Munro RHP .074 0 1 (1-0, 4.70) (4-6, 5.28) I wonder if Dave Krynzel is healthy, yet. I doubt he'd play anyway, 'cause that would seriously jeopardize the integrity of the playoff race. ~Bill
  15. 09/18/2004 - Brewers (Glover) at Astros (Munro) Sheets vs. Oswalt, Glover vs. Munro. We sure are blessed with some incredible pitching matchups this series... I'm not sure which one is more compelling - I gotta give the nod to Gary versus Pete, though, I think. I mean, it's Glover versus Munro! No local TV again. Go team. ~Bill
  16. Oy... that didn't sound good. ~Bill
  17. JP just mentioned that Jon Greenberg told he and Ueck that Oswalt might have pulled his groin again. If that's true, it will be a huge blow to the Astros' playoff chances. Any of you that are listening to the Houston feed: have they said anything? Lidge is in for a two-inning save. Dude is nasty. EDIT: I guess Oswalt has "an aggravated left rib cage". Greenberg = wrong. EDIT AGAIN: Yep, Lidge is nasty. That was painful. ~Bill
  18. Ben Sheets is 2-for-3 against Roy Oswalt. That's awesome. ~Bill
  19. Jim Powell versus Chuck Norris: who wins? Apparently, JP thinks he can take him. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif ~Bill
  20. Ginter doubles.... then homers... then doubles. Boo. It hit the yellow line, so it should be a home run. EDIT: Unless hitting the yellow line isn't a homer. I thought it was, but maybe not. In any case, it hit the yellow line and Ginter doubled. EDIT AGAIN: From the official ground rules at MLB.com (LINK): "Ball hits fence above yellow line, or top of railing in left center field - HOME RUN." (emphasis theirs) So what if it hits the yellow line? Not a homer, or a homer? Confusing. ~Bill
  21. ESPN just showed the Branyan/Chavez collision... wow. Two big dudes coming together there. ~Bill
  22. Cool, thanks much DHonks. It would be nice to see Big Ben finish off the year strong, as he seems to be doing. Gotta keep throwing the curve for a strike, and he'll be a-okay. Russell just made the defense irrelevant again. Beauty, thy name is Branyan. ~Bill
  23. 426 feet for Jenks... I think Uecker thought it was longer. ~Bill
  24. Are you watching on Extra Innings, DHonks? If so, fill us in on the visuals... no local TV coverage for us 'sconsonites. I have a feeling this is going to be a pitcher's duel (really going out on a limb there, huh?). These are two of the best right-handers in the league facing off, both with hard fastballs and big breaking curveballs. Sheets vs. Oswalt is probably second on my list of potential NL Central matchups, just behind Prior and Sheets. Maybe Wood and Sheets, too. Anyway, Jenks just went deep. That's good to hear. ~Bill
  25. Pretty active game thread tonight, LOL. If you wanna be really cool, tune into WTMJ and watch the Sox/Yanks game on ESPN. Or you could go out and do something... but that's a little *too* cool. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif EDIT: Good to see somebody else is out there, davego. You da' man.
