  1. Since I was watching the U.S. choke, were McGehee's singles line drives? seeing eye single....blooper...?
  2. Not even close. Basketball players practice free throwing every day. Penalty kicks are just a tiny part of soccer skills. What is with all the excuses today, first a ball bounces off Weeks glove and people want to forgive him because it was hit hard, who cares, he is in the majors. Same with this, these players are in the World Cup and they cant put the ball within a 24 by 8 foot box from 10 yards away? No excuse, unbelievably pathetic.Missing 3 penalty kicks in soccer is the equivalent of missing an extra point to win a football game. They had a nice run, but that was a choke....
  3. Just put the game back on and I thought i heard something about Saito back to the DL? Or did he say back FROM the DL?
  4. Right, managing the bullpen has to be a combination of having a plan, and being able to adjust that plan on the fly given game situation. Last night, as the 7th inning was blowing up before out eyes, RR should have been prepared to bring in KRod vs Helton. Personally, I would have stuck with Hawkins and then went with KRod vs Helton. Then, depending on pitch count, he could have used KRod for the 8th. To me, this is one of the big advantages of having two closers. One can be used in the 7th if that is the inning where a lead needs to be protected.
  5. Here's hoping Yuni will be a vendor soon.... "Get you Yuni Dog" "Get your red hot Yuni Dog"
  6. I would say Yo has been more than "slightly" disapointing. If this team has a realistic chance to compete for the World Series, Yo has to perform at his best. Not just at his best every other start. problem with him is that when he's not on, he hasn't been able to gut it through for a decent start. He gets lit up, and it's happened too often. Nothing has changed from the beginning os the season. If this team is a legitimate contender to win it all, they need Greinke, Yo, and Marcum at their best. Not "decent" or "acceptable." Otherwise it will take an incredible amount of offense and luck.
  7. I don't think anyone would deny they are underachieving on the road. But to be objective, wouldn't you say they are overachieving at home?
  8. Cmon, Counsell is tearing up RHP, and Casey is destroying LHP. Don't mess with what's working.
  9. Yea, that's my point. When you look at results vs. expectations, Wolf and Narvy are the only ones performing like you would expect. I thought Marcum was on his way to pitching above expectations, but now he's back to an avg MLB starter. But Yo and Greinke have been the real issue. They should be up there with the top of the rotation starters from Philly, Braves, Giants, etc. and they just haven't done it. That's why I say we can grumble about our favorite culprits- Yuni, McGehee, RR, etc., but until or unless the rotation improves, the rest is just conversation.
  10. I agree, no point in having a lefty just for the sake of having one. They do need to find a good one who can actually help. Now, that doesn't even matter if they can't hit on the road and if the starting pitching isn't consistently better. But, just like the deal for KRod, just because it isn't the top priority doesn't mean it's something not worth pursuing.
  11. I disagree. How you fix it is bring up Green and trade for even a modest upgrade at SS. One should have been done a month ago, the other can't wait another month.
  12. That should do it...channel surfing time...oh wait...we'll see if Chewy can come up with 2 run shot here
  13. Errors and defense, sure, but you also need to score something north of 0 runs to win.
  14. Scarface on AMC.... Reruns of tfe Office.....hmmm Pelham 123 is on at 9:30... I'll wait to see one more AB from Brauny to see if he can keep the streak alive.
  15. Looks like you spoke too soon :-(One more inning...dont make me a liar Narvy.
  16. I think that's basically what he was saying, but you're right. This is what I like about Cirillo, you would never get that kind of analysis from Schroeder.
