  1. Green with 2 more hits and a BB tonight, oh...and 3 RBI. Yawwwwwnnn
  2. True, June would have been better.
  3. The part I never understand is that bringing up Green doesn't preclude you from bringing up McGehee again later. It really is one of those "can't lose" situations. If you're right and Green just can't handle Major League pitching, you send him back down and bring McGehee back. Either way, you have nothing to lose. McGehee gets some time out of the spotlight to work on his swing...his head...whatever the issues are. But I don't think Gren would fail. I really find it hard to believe he wouldn't OPS over .600. What really makes this dumbfounding is that this is supposed to be an "all in" year and they're living with the offense and defense of McGehee and Yuni.
  4. This is what you'll get more often than not with a lineup that includes Kotsay, Kottaras, Yuni, and Mcgehee. Throw in the pitcher, and that's 5 out of 9 guys you can get out pretty easily.
  5. Do I think they could be World Series champs right now? No. But we're not even through July yet! What if Philly has a couple major injuries, espeically to their rotation? What if Greinke and gallardo save their best for October? Could Corey Hart have one of his infamous red-hot streaks in October? If you wait until they are the favorites to win the world Series, you could be waiting for...well...forever. At some point, you have to relish winning the division and having an opportunity to compete for a title. Too much money hads been invested to get to this point. A stadium was built to get to this point. Prince, Braun, Weeks, etc. were drafted and edloped to have this opportunity. Fans want to see this play out. And not just "casual" fans. We are all in, and someone could very well call our bluff....but I'm not folding. Now show me the river card please.
  6. I agree, Weeks has to get used to this anyhow, because with Fielder gone next year he's going to hit somewhere in the middle of the line-up for sure- he has to. Now if they would just fre Lucroy from the 8 hole...
  7. I understand that concern, but GMs (most of them anyhow) are bright enough to understand results are all that matters. Even if KRod gets 0 saves for the Brewers, but pitches very effectivley, they know he can close. That's been proven, even this year. Would it have an effect on his value at all? Yea, probably a little. Judging from what RR has said, and more importanly HOW he said it, I honestly don;t thin he knows yet exactly how he'll use him. He knows KRod CAN close, and I think he's trying to play it out in his own mind just as we are. But I just think they have enough things that are broke, why mess with something that isn't? Axford makes us plenty nervous at times, but the guy is 25/27 in save opportunities. I just wouldn't mess with that unless he's unavailable. If only one of them was a LHP, this would all be easier to work out. As it is, we'll just have to wait and see how this developes. We may find out as early as tonight if RR is comfortable putting KRod out there in the 9th if it's a save situation. It would be his third straight game, but I bet he puts him out there.
  8. Maybe Green is one of the guys on the block for another deal DM is working on? It's the only rational explanation.
  9. Just occured to me looking ahead to 2012 how many guys could be on the roster with a last name that starts with G. Custom made for a catchy nickname like the Killer Gs: Gallardo, Greinke, Gamel, Gindl, Green, Gomez, Getancourt. Nothing really stands out this year that we can hang our hats on (Maybe Roadkill?), so I'm shooting for 2012.
  10. I don't think low key= apathetic. Yount was a very quiet, reserved guy- especially early on in his career. Weeks is another guy who never really shows any kind of emotion when he plays.
  11. I understand, but even at that how can KRod close 30% of the games, PLUS pitch 100% of the 8th innings where Axford will get the save opportunity? That's a huge workload. The only way that can work is to let someone else handle some of the set-up role. Now roles are getting real murky. Look at our current situation. Axford is probably not available today. But KRod has pitched the last two games also. So I guess KRod "could" pitch the 9th tonight if needed, but is that the best use of Krod? Having him pitch 3 straight days? I guess if it happens here and there, not the end of the world. But if they use him as the set-up guy, this will happen virtually every time. Because that means he'll pitch in almost every game Axford closes PLUS his own save opportunities. Judging from the last time RR talked about this in a post game interview, he hasn't figured out how to use him yet either.
  12. I don't see how KRod can be the 8th inning guy AND get plenty of closing opportunites. That would mean he would pitch almost every day, and I don't think that's possible. Certainly not the best use for him. If he was used that way, he would pitch in virtually every game Axford saves, PLUS get plenty of his own save opportunites? Just can't see how that's workable. What COULD be workable is having Hawkins or Saito be the 8th inning guy, then KRod could be used to close some games, and otherwise be used as the "emergency guy" when an inning is blowing up late in the game.
  13. Common complaints, and I don't entirely disagree. "Sudden death" is commonly used in soccer, just not in the World Cup. It's referred to the "Golden Goal." Personally, I agree that it should be used in the World Cup. Shoot-outs hare hard to defend too, other than it's been part of the game for a long, long time. There does come a point in a match where the length of the game gets ridiculous. Common complaint is the game is too long and boring for casual American fans, so I don't think extending the match indefintely would help. Probably the best solution would be to add two 15 minute period, and use Golden Goal. Chances are somebody scores i nthat time, but if not you go to shoot-outs.
  14. So you either use him as a ROOGy, or use him in garbage innings. Problem is, that is (or should) be the same role Dillard has. There's only so many arms in the pen, and you can't reserve 2 guys for that role. Especially since Estrada is reserved for long relief and garbage innings also. I refuse to believe DM is stupid and doesn't understand they need a lefty in the pen. So he's out there trying to get something done. In the meantime, would it be worth bringing up Narron? I just don't see why yo uwouldn't give him a shot to bridge the gap between now and when we can find a more "legit" LHP. Who knows, maybe he can be effective. If not, at least they tried.
  15. I don't know, over half a run higher for Yo is pretty significant. Like I've said, Yo needs to perform BETTER than what an avergae year would be for him. That's probably not fair to him, but it's reality. For the Brewers to compete for and in the post-season, that's the only way they can stack up against Philly, Braves, SF, etc. Greinke is the one who needs to improve the most, we all know that. But Yo really needs to have his best season. Especially since I fully expect Wolf to come back down to his projection. Then you'll have 3 guys basically at the levels they're expected to be at, and 2 under-performing. What makes that problem bigger, is the two underperming are at the top of the rotation. Pretty darn relevant when the playoffs start.
  16. Loe Misused or not, here's a guy who knows he has to keep the ball down and far too often he grooves his sinker down the middle. How can he not understand, if I'm going to miss, it's going to be missing low?
  17. 4 games are a ton in a little over half a season though. Add those 4 wins, and the Brewers are 55-41. 4 1/2 game lead in the division, and Philly legitimately in sight for the best overall record in the NL. Here's where the stat and non-stat people always get caught up on subjects like this. Everyone begins defending certain points of view, and often they are not contradictory. The overall question/comment is that this team needs to win more road games. I could be wrong, biut I would imagine nearly everyone agres with that. If they don't, they would need to continue their current winning% at home, or even improve on that.
  18. No ax or krod available tommorow, good ti,e for complete game shutout for wolf.
  19. First one was a solid hit to right-center, the second one was in on his hands and he kind of dumped it into left field. Thanks. Plus he had a sac fly to score a run. So I'll suspend ripping him for one day, I'll give credit where credit is due.
