  1. Well, he has no time to play when he's busy packing his bags to fly out to Oakland.
  2. **Stranger Things Spoiler Alert** In some ways I like season 3 more, but in other ways I thought it was the worst of the 3 seasons. I just can't get past the whole Russian base under the mall thing, just came off as a James Bond spoof or something. Also, as someone who "came of age" in the 80s, they tried WAY too hard to hit us over the head with 80s clothes, products, music, etc. I'm just dissapointed because they could have gone a lot of interesting ways in season 3, and the Russian thing just didn't work. Also, the whole Mind Flayer and Upside Down were always mysterious and scary. Turning it into basically just another monster chasing them around was a mistake. 1/3 Wonder Years, 1/3 Bond, 1/3 Alien = Meh. Incredible ending though, literally had tears in my eyes.
  3. We're empty nesters, probably main reason. We don't watch nearly as much during the summer, except for the Brewers and IGTs. But when it's -80 and dark for 20 hours of the day, lots of time to binge watch. Plus, virtually all the shows we watch are streaming, and they generally have less episodes. For example, new season of Sneaky Pete just dropped and we saw the whole season over 3 days because there's only 10 episodes. That's like 2 1/2 hours per night, so no different than a Brewers game or some movies. As for GOT, I'm not paying for HBO so I'll never see a minute of it.
  4. It is, I've seen all the seasons. Really good supporting actors, and just a nice pace/ vibe going on. If you have Prime, Patriot is a top 3 show of all time. Probably my personal favorite, its that good.
  5. I feel the same about House of Cards. The first season was incredible and they've just gone downhill since then. I didn't even watch last season. I guess you could say the same about True Detective. Season one was an all timer, season two really stink and season three was pretty good. Ditto on all three. I've seen every season of HoC, Homeland, and True Detective. Sure, 1st season or two is always the best for almost any series, but I still think the last season of Homeland is better than anything on network TV.
  6. Nobody has taken me up on this? If you like the Cohen brothers stuff, you'll love this. (They weren't involved with this project, it's just similar.)
  7. I watched them both as well, mixed feelings. The format is weird, I would have preferred they went with either a true documentary or a factual made for TV series. Instead it's a strange combo, and it's distracting. I'm always open to playing with the format, I just don't love how they're doing it here. Still, intriguing enough I'll probably watch the rest.
  8. Patriot Has anyone watched this show? (on Amazon Video.) Very quirky. Is it a drama? comedy? Can't really put it in a box, which I why I really liked it. Got mixed reviews, and I can see how people didn't like it as I almost stopped after the first episode. One of those shows that needs your full attention to really get into the mood of the show, catch all the subtle humor, flashback/ flash forward scenes, etc. I guess I loved it because it's very different, and really loved how it was produced, casting, etc. the more I watched it.
  9. Baez plays for the Cubs. I don't think the big/small market matters. Braun beat out Kemp for MVP when they had very similar numbers. Another thing working in Yelich's favor is defense. Make that his PERCEIVED defense. He has a gold glove on his resume, and my guess is the national media thinks he's a much better defensive player than he really is.
  10. It's actually something the mods pointed out recently. No upside in reminding people they were wrong. That said, it's always refreshing when someone volunteers to admit they were wrong. I've seen a couple people do that for other players/moves. A whole lot have done it for Miley.
  11. I still believe a lot of people look at stats through the lens of the past. Back when the best OFs were all hitting 40-45 bombs. Those days are over. I really questioned Yelich making the ASG until I looked at the numbers. Very simply, there's not a bunch of guys hitting over 1.000 OPS anymore.
  12. No question, it is impossible to know the top or the bottom. For that matter, how long it will take to get to the bottom, back to the top, etc. But I'm personally gambling that the market will not soar even higher in the next few years. Even if it does, at some point I see it going way down again. I wouldn't wait for the bottom, since we have no idea what it is. Just buy chunks on the way down once we get to correction territory. I just don't believe in dollar cost averaging for stocks. There is always some luck, some educated guessing involved, but I believe we've had a big bad bull market, and I'm not buying equities until we have a correction. Yea, that means I have to wait, maybe for a while, but that's ok.
  13. I see no problem trying to time the market. If I get a check for half a million today, no way would I put that into the market. Maybe I would lose out, but I'm just very confident there will be a correction within the next few years. I don't trust any advisors, not sure I would even it was a family member. If they were so good at the job, they would have been able to retire long ago with 10s of millions of dollars. They can't beat the S&P on a regular basis any more than you can. Are there really good ones out there, and ones that have my best interest in mind? Probably, but impossible to know. As mentioned earlier, tax considerations is something you should always keep in mind. Sock away as much as you possibly can in 401k and IRAs. Even annuities are worth looing into, which the financial planning world hates. (As a contrarian, that tells me it's worth looking into.) First thing you should do though, buy a few thousand tickets to every Cubs game at MP the rest of they year and hand them out only to Brewer fans.
  14. Yea, way too early to say it was a great trade for the Brewers. At the very least it looks like the Brewers got what they wanted. Just far too early to know if it will be as good of a trade as the Gomez/Fiers trade was. THAT was great trade, will probably end up being exceptional. And yea, I won't be happy if the four traded away all become HOF players. That would mean it was a horrible trade.
  15. Interesting. I did watch the 1st season, not sure how much of season 2 but then I gave up. Sounds like it's worth circling back.
  16. Yes! Forgot to mention that earlier on my list, that was a great series. Manhattan is another series I forgot earlier. Another really good series if you like history. It's about the group of scientists charged with building the A bomb. Not as good as "Turn," but definitely worth watching.
  17. Per wiki:
  18. Two shows I watched from the beginning, so I'm stuck with: Walking Dead- I have it on, but end up doing stuff on my phone more than watching intently. Gold Rush Weekly: Shark Tank The Middle/ Modern Family Shows I binge: Sneaky Pete- Good call by Brew4U. Loved it and looking forward to 2nd season about to drop House of Cards- We'll see what happens post-Spacey The Americans Like it better than I thought I would Homeland Better Call Saul Breaking Bad is just barely better than BCS Bosch Fargo Narcos Goliath (Billy Bob Thorton) On my list to binge when I get Netflix again: Stranger Things
  19. Big question is, will CC refer to him as "Yelly" or Yelichy?"
  20. You sound like you're on the same roller coaster I'm on. Initial reaction hate it. Calmed down a bit now, and by tomorrow who knows I'll probably love it.
  21. Miller Park will bring some huge benefits for Yelich, and I think we will be happy to have him for three years. maybe four on the outside (I assume he will be flipped later). That said... the price tag is way high. Brinson - I expected him to go, wasn't as high on him as some others here. Diaz - I really liked his OBP skills. Trent Clark/Grisham or Michael Reed were the only two who were clearly better. Harrison - In some ways, I am OK with this. He'd been hurt a lot before 2017, but I felt Stokes, Phillips, and Santana were all better. Stokes could very well be starting out in AAA this year. Yamamoto - This one really stings. I had him ranked far above Ortiz, Peralta, and Ponce. He looked like a Davies type. Honestly, I wish the Crew had taken Starlin Castro off the Marlins' hands and tried to use that to swap out Yamamoto for Bickford. They are also banking that Hirua's elbow doesn't go south on them. You missed the obvious. Stearns refused to include Suter in this deal. That has to be a positive!
  22. Not sure, but probably because of the slanted way you phrased that.
  23. Before we get excited, any video of Yellich crying after being told of the trade?
  24. I dismiss this notion of we have "x" number of players at a position, so big deal. Its is a big deal, you still want max return for them. Look, I like Yelich. A lot. But no, I don't think he's special. Brinson/Diaz fine. Adding Harrison and Yamamoto (very underrated here) is a bridge too far.
