  1. I didn't see anyone apply the "genius" label -- but McClung was a good prospect -- maybe being out of the black hole that is Tampa Bay and working with Maddux he can turn it around. He has upside.
  2. Carlos Quentin would be a sweet acquisition to play LF next year... He's having a down year this year, but was solid last year and has been as OBP-machine in the minors... He's 25, and his minor league career numbers are .313/.430/.528 Last year, .253/.342/.530/.872 in only 166 AB.
  3. Or they can rescind the waiver and keep the player, but he must stay on the team for the remainder of the season.
  4. I think it's because he's cheap, durable, decent, and has shown signs of improving as seen in this VERY thread... Its up about 6 posts, but Ill spell it out for you... Dave Bush's last 12 games- 64 IP, 17 BB, 49 K, 3.66 ERA, .710 OPS against.
  5. Ive pointed this out a few times, looking at Suppans K/9, K/BB, BB/9, HR/9 and DIPS he is pitching exactly like we should expected. The brewers defense is worse than St. Louis, and the result is this 5.0 ERA. There may or may not be more in the link in my sig, a few posts down.
  6. But let's not overstate it either, this is NOT Zambrano and Barrett going to blows. It's two guys arguing. Two days ago no one saw any drive, fire, or competition. Now they have an argument and it's a sign that Yost has lost the team? I can't wait til they play tonight so I can stop reading about this argument -- unless they lose.
  7. You're exactly right Naivin -- I agree 100%. Just ANOTHER example of people here getting too low with a loss. Tuesday's win sparked a thread asking if it was "the seasons turning point." Two days prior people wrote off the Crew saying at least Packer football was coming up. Now, they lose, two people are bickering and Yost has lost the team? So two professional baseball guys had a disagreement? It doesn't really have to signal anything. This is nothing more than frustration. On a second note, I've seen a few people point out that Yost's teams historically "collapse in the 2nd half." Could this have anything to do with the players on them? The fact that they were awful teams? Or last year, injured? Managers get WAY too much credit for a win and WAY too much blame for a loss.
  8. great. a 4A player. that'll put us over the top. that and another half dozen relievers, so yost can make twice as many pitching changes. How can you criticize a move, when you don't know the other half of it?
  9. I didn't say you complained about it -- but my point is -- OPS - Graffy 714 / Counsell 687 / Weeks 698 In 2700 Career ABs Graffy has a 733 OPS so he has basically no upside. Counsell is having as bad year or worse year offensively than Weeks. Weeks has tremendous upside. Isn't it worth it to let him play his way out of this (assuming he's healthy, which by all accounts, he is)?
  10. Just wondering, if we are not currently in development mode, why is Rickie Weeks in the majors? Oh come on, everyone complained when Braun was in AAA and Counsellino was at 3B. And even if we do that, who are we going to call up to take Weeks spot?
  11. I guess if people are expecting some kind of flurry of activity because they lost a road series are going to be disappointed. Likely that's what they want, so they can then complain about how they didn't do anything. Exactly. I think some people here have a "woe is me" attitude (I never get to use that phrase!). People have been saying the cubs are going to pass us for a month. Why? this is Brewerfan.net so why come here to bash the team? Absolutely pointless, but I guess this is what you get when a hot start causes casual fans to jump on the bandwagon.
  12. Other than Ryan Braun, nearly every brewer hitter is under .250 for the month of July To me, this doesn't signal that we're falling apart at the seams, it signals that the team has collectively hit a rough stretch. Do you really think Corey Hart is going to hit .208 as he did in July? Do you think Weeks is going to hit .210 over the rest of the season? Better yet, do you think Turnbow and Cordero are going to blow every lead we have the rest of the way? This team is good. You can say whatever you want about letting you down, but this team is good. They aren't the 2003 Brewers or the 2004 Brewers -- they're a different team. To expect them to fail because those teams did is stupid. They're going to pull out of this because they aren't a .400 team.
  13. I totally agree with you 100% -- everything is magnified with us slumping and the cubs having caught us. If we hadn't gotten out to that good start, this would not be as traumatic as it is to some people.
  14. Im not saying it should be accepted, Im just saying its the way it is. Because of that, changes need to be made. We were told as fans that being mediocre was no longer acceptable. Apparently, thats not the case. But, as long as the home games keep selling out, apparently the Brewers brass feel that the fans think its okay, which its not. If the stands get a little emptier in August, maybe their thoughts will change. If the bullpen doesn't cough up 3 leads in the last week, would you still feel this way? Overreact much?
  15. You waited this long to pat yourself on the back, and you couldn't wait a little longer to see IF and when the Cubs ACTUALLY overtake the crew?
  16. Quote:So if they go .500 from here, they'll finish at 85 wins. Isn't that where we thought they'd be? I did, anyways. I sure didn't expect a 24-10 start. This is all true, but I'm not sure we can just expect .500 ball the rest of the way. Since going 24-10, they've gone 33-39. Thats .4583, and would give them 82-83 wins on the seaon, which would not be tollerable. So 85 wins is what you expect, but 82-83 is intolerable? I just want to make sure thats what you mean?
  17. Ah so he has one "decent" game so now you wanna trade for him? Cmon he was 0-10 and looking down right terrible. On a side note top pitching prospect...haha I think not. his DIPS this season is 4.64 -- He has a 1.42 WHIP and is not a 6.40 ERA pitcher. 0-10 means next to nothing.
  18. His ERA is 4.30 and he has been abysmal at trying to strand inherited runners. His teamsmates have bailed him out of his messes numerous times. Simply, he hasn't been nearly as good as his 4.30 ERA, and you try to replace guys with a 4.30 ERA, especially when they had a 6.87 ERA the year before. Hey buddy, I never mentioned his ERA. Anyone who implies that a guy with a 1.16 WHIP HAS to be replaced, is just not a level-minded baseball fan.
  19. Lets pretend that instead of starting 24-10, that the Brewers start 17-17. They hover around .500 until June 20. Then they go 24-10 and now they PASS the Cubs and are 1/2 game up. The records haven't changed. Would people be going nuts then?
  20. Its Doug Melvin that continues with the dillusion that Turnbow is a good player Where does that crazy old mustache wearing fella get the idea that a pitcher with 57 K in 45 innings has ANY place on a major league team? 1.16 WHIP? Attrocious. 8 scoreless outings in his last 10 before today? Get him outta here!
  21. Everything is not "fine" but the seasons isn't remotely over... and for that matter we're still in first. If we fall into second, Bud Selig wont cancel August and September -- we still have a chance to play like 70 more games.
  22. so what should they do? please, enlighten me... Jermaine "2 .800 OPS seasons since 2001" Dye?
  23. That was BRUTAL today, did you see NED YOST allow 4 ER in 1/3 of an inning. Unbearable!
  24. The Brewers will be second place ball club very shortly And you know what? There's still 2 MONTHS of the season left. 2 MONTHS! 2 MONTHS! Im going to keep saying it as if it could ever sink in. And 2nd, I hope the Brewers do just dump turnbow. How could we ever use him again if T Bone 10 on brewerfan.net doesnt trust him?
  25. Wow nice way to speak for people in this thread. I'm dying. My eyes are finally opening. This year is no different than any other year except for the better start. Thanks.
