  1. No mention of Bill Hall? The guy is jacked. Kendall looks like a guy who's been in a few fights in his life, the Brewers as a whole would not be a team most teams would want to scrap with. Also the Counsell v. Eckstein idea is awesome.
  2. If Braun does hit one tonight, he may just backpedal around the bases.
  3. I love this as well, not only does it make for great entertainment, but Braun has a legitimate gripe. He does tend to, to put it nicely, take his time out of the box after he jacks one, but in the HR yesterday he put his head down and ran. "We're the wrong team to mess with." How can you not love this guy?
  4. I was about to post the exact same thing. I've been umpiring for years and the call at first base is probably the easiest to make because you just wait for the pop of the glove or the sound of the runner hitting first base, whichever comes first. There is no doubt that in the scoop situation it is a more difficult call.
  5. First off, I know it's still extremely early in the season, but if Jason Kendall continues to struggle, at what point should Rivera begin playing more than 1 in every 5 days? Kendall is not getting any younger, maybe the absurd amount of games he caught last season are catching up to him.
  6. Just saw on ESPN, Mark Texeira has apparently signed with Yankees. This is pretty puzzling to me as just earlier today it was reported that it was down to the Red Sox and Nationals. Even before that, I hadn't really heard much about the Yankees in the discussions. Buster Olney is reporting it's an 8 year deal worth $170 million. Unbelievable how the Yankees can literally just buy themselves a roster. What position does this put the Brewers in as far as the draft picks they will be receiving?
  7. lineups been posted: Cameron Durham Braun Fielder Hardy Hart Counsell Kendall Sabathia Counsell + Durham > Hall + Weeks in my opinion. I'd rather have the vets playing in the biggest game in 26 years. Go Brewers!
  8. I'd love to get that molitor bobblehead, plenty of great stuff though, thanks!
  9. as good as Braun has been, has anyone else noticed that he seems to do most of his hitting in non pressure situations? And when he does get into a pressure situation, he becomes a completely different hitter. I know I've been spoiled when I catch myself venting about Ryan Braun.
  10. Brian and Bill have been speculating that there may be something wrong with jj's arm the way he's lollipopped his last two throws. Especially the last one, which had an uncharacteristically high arc on it.
  11. only jj would put a swing like that on a 2 - 0 pitch.
  12. As much as villanueva has been struggling lately, there's no way he gets sent down. I think it will be Dessens, as his role is already being filled by Parra.
  13. Mench and Wise for Rowand? I would do it, Mench could replace Rowand in the OF, and we all know how much solid relief pitching is worth...
  14. We're tied for first in the majors in Hr's, I don't think thats a stat melvin is putting a premium on.
  15. I think a guy like Aaron Rowand would be just what we need. Although that would pose the question of what to do with Jenkins and Mench, I would welcome his .396 OBP into the #2 spot in our order.
  16. From the top of my head, Gavin Floyd used to be a pretty big Phillies prospect, but I could be wrong.
  17. I think it would take a very very good offer for Melvin to consider trading away Villanueva. A young, talented, cheap starter years from being arbitration eligible would command much more than 1/2 year of Adam Dunn. Parra, on the other hand, I don't see as being held in such high regard, so I could see him packaged with gwynn or another prospect as a potential deal.
  18. The pitchers have made the adjustment on him, and he has been unable to make an adjustment in return, which is the name of the game. They pound him on the outside corner, and when you try and pull that pitch, you're going to hit a routine groundball to short. If you watch our best hitters (Braun, Fielder) they take that ball the opposite way, which makes them much more difficult to pitch to. I would say Corey Hart is having the same problem as Hardy. All that, combined with the fact that both seem to be pressing and swinging at pitches out of the zone, makes for a slump.
  19. Also would not mind seeing Melvin Move Gwynn/Gross and Vargas for Otsuka. Apparently Gwynn alone for Otsuka was nearly a done deal if not for injury. I would be worried about getting rid of Vargas without an immediate person to step in. It's too soon to promote Yo, and although Villanueva would be an upgrade, he would leave an enormous hole in our bullpen unless Balfour can prove he can do it in the major leagues too.
  20. Apparently the Nationals have been asking the world for him, meaning top prospects. Tony Gwynn jr. for Otsuka? Absolutely. But someone like Villanueva or Gallardo is obviously not worth it. Hopefully the Nationals eventually come to their senses because Cordero would be a nice piece for the stretch run.
  21. With all the Spurling Bashing that I read everyday here, I'm surprised that everyone doesn't jump all over the chance to get rid of him.
  22. why would the Orioles want to trade for a veteran utility infielder? Since they are not contending, Graffy has no value to them.
  23. please add me as well.
