I think this is spot on. Personally though I don't get too excited about A ball pitchers, no matter how great they look. I guess I would have them both in the 60-80 range if I made up a list.

I honestly think an outfield platoon of Dickerson/whoever has real potential to outperform what Hart would do next season in RF.

Not to pick on anyone (since its about half the thread) but I love how "all time favorite album" becomes "list of favorite albums" for most people. Come on guys, the difficulty and half the fun of this exercise is narrowing it down to one album and being fairly certain that you will answer the same way a year or two from now.

Do you have to go to work tomorrow? (Yes, I know that Yo pitched that day, and wasn't likely to do anything more strenuous than stretching....but there is always the chance that he'd be called on to pinch hit. Doesn't matter.) Does your job allow you to have minimal responsibility 5 months of the year....and if so, is this part of the 7 months when you're supposed to be focused on said job? I am a night person. Always have been, always will be. The corporate working world is set up for morning people. I don't need people looking down at me just because of the way I am naturally wired. Similarly, nobody should be infering anything about Yo just because he wasn't in bed at that time. If I was a baseball player that pitched mostly night games once a week I would certainly be up at 2:30 every day. I see no problem with that. To say this is at all Yo's fault is ridiculous. I hate when people try to put blame on the victim of a crime.

Without knowing the neighborhood....there's really only one place a guy should be at 2:30 in the morning: in bed. I'm sure baseball players don't have the most usual sleep schedule, since their job requires them to be 'on' from 7-10 pm most nights, but the team pays him more than enough money to not place himself in that situation. Yea, thats a pretty bad blanket statement. Guess what, I'm 29 and am going to be out past 2:30 tonight. Does that mean I am up to no good or if I get robbed its my fault?

Here you go. Thanks, hadn't heard that. Just saw the comments about Mat's throwing. From hearing Money in that clip, it again sounded positive about his long term development and upside. Its one thing to say a young guy has obsticals to overcome and quite another to say he has limited ceiling or isn't improving. The key quote for me was: "He's coming along, its just going to take time." Sounds like a prospect to me, which is what we should be expecting at this point. That being said, I think he would be as good as McGehee right now even with the mistakes and future development. I feel as though theres a lot to like and be excited about with Mat despite the reputation.

Yup. Prior's was much worse, but Strasburg certainly has some characteristics of an inverted W. I remember expressing concern over Bush's inverted W 2-3 years ago on here and basically being laughed at. I have no doubt that's what has contributed to his decrease in velocity. The inverted W caused him to take a line drive off the triceps?

In terms of Gamel's defensive upside at third being limited, I don't remember Money saying anything of the sort. I don't remember a comment about Mat's "heavy feet" either. All this stuff gets blown out of proportion until a player gets a bad rap. The way I remember Money's comments is that he was saying Mat needed to correct his throwing with extra reps and that he wasn't progressing as fast as Money had hoped. Its a classic method used to light a fire under a young player's butt. Last year the organization had Cameron pull him aside and say the same thing. The bar is set high for Mat since he could be an elite player at the MLB level. With McGehee, they know what they have at his age. With Mat they want more effort. Being McGehee good isn't good enough. You can see it if you just watch him play instead of reading these second hand reports on him.

Fair enough, I feel the same way. When Gamel comes up this fall I hope you watch him with an open mind and block out the crap Witrado and other fans spew about him.

I already answered this. Not sure why you keep asking. It is clear this debate is going to go nowhere if you wont even read a post from the other point of view. His defense at 3B is just not good enough to cut it at 3B. How much have you seen Gamel play? What is your background for judging player defense and/or scouting? If you are basing your opinion on reports, are they from the Journal Sentinal (specifically AW)? Nothing right now shows that Gamel will be above average over the coming 6 years at 3B or even average for that matter. I believe that you are assuming to much. Well, we obviously have a difference of opinion here and we may just have to leave it at that. I only wish you would at least consider the oposing view and read my posts. Personally, I think its pretty hard to come to the conclusion that Gamel wont even be average at 3B in the next 6 years unless you are introducing some personal bias into your POV or are getting poor scouting reports.

What difference does it make if pitched 100 innings in AA or MLB? They were going to limit his innings at the MLB level as well. Even the Yankees mentioned limiting Phil Hughes innings this year at the MLB level despite his success. Strasburg's career high for innings was just over a 100 so there was talk of limiting him to 140 to 150 this year whether those came at the MLB or AA or AAA wasn't really going to matter to his elbow. MLB innings can be more stressful to a young pitcher. They get fired up and over throw. Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't Nick Neugebauer's first couple of starts implicated in his injury and eventual retirement. Didn't Sheets get injured overthrowing in his first All Star game (if I remember correctly he threw one inning where every pitch was a fastball above 96, awesome to watch at the time). It seems to happen all the time. A guy gets up to the majors, then hits the DL after a couple of appearances. Its not just a coincidence.

I did look at his stats for the whole season. He is a nice player and in a vacume I would be happy to have him as our 3b going forward. If you look at the big picture though I wouldn't say Gamel is "blocked" at 3B. I am not arguing that McGehee is good or bad, I am arguing with the definetive stance that you took, then the ensuing mocking of my post that took place. I truly believe that McGehee is an average 3B in this league right now when offense and defense are factored in. That is valuable considering his pay and control. I don't know how long he will keep this up though. Additionally, I think Gamel would be average right now as well and will be greatly above average over the coming 6 years. Depending on how 1B and RF shake out as well as the SP, I would not say Gamel is "blocked" at 3B and I can't agree with someone who says that.

I don't know if I can agree with the bolded part. here we go again. Currently, McGehee is 6th in all of MLB 3rd basemen in OPS, after finishing 7th last year. I love me some Gamel, but McGehee is a proven, cheap commodity that you dont want to devalue. Here we go again with people overvaluing McGehee. A 2 week hot streak and he is back to being in barely in the top 10 when you factor in his defense. 2 weeks ago he was around average with no upside. Where will he finish the season? Hard to say, but we have a cheaper player who I think will play better defense for a longer amount of team control vs a very replaceable player with some value. Thats the type of player you love to trade to fill a hole elsewhere. If you think Gamel is "blocked" at 3B you are kidding yourself. You have no idea how this is all going to work out.

Well, thats kinda their style though, or at least Casablancas. Everyone rocks out behind him, theres lights and stuff everywhere. And he stands in the middle calm and cool like a rock star and does his thing. Thats pretty much how most of their songs work too, and he totally pulls it off...shades, leather, and everything. Anyway, I'm obviously a fan but the independent reviews of the show were very good, especially compared to Lady Gaga on the other end who had the majority of the crowd (meaning it was easy to get a good spot on the north end of the park). Thanks for the clarification. I don't expect it to be easy to sell by any means. I also don't have a ton of free time. Like I said before, this is just something I am considering and hoping other people's experiences can sway me. I see what you are saying about Redfin, I didn't know it wasn't available for WI. Thats too bad, its a lot faster than Realtor.com. However, if I were to go the route I am thinking about, I would still be in the MLS and still get to potential clients not on Redfin or Realtor.com. When I purchased the place 3 years ago, I didn't go online at all. My buyer broker printed out about 30 places for me to look at on the MLS and I went though and narrowed them down. That system would still work as long as I am listed in the MLS. Again, thanks for all the great advise.

I thought he was moved for defensive reasons to RF/1B.. Why move him back? Considering that McGehee is doing very well at 3B it makes no sense. Gamel is blocked at 3B. I don't know if I can agree with the bolded part.

I was talking to my uncle about this (he is a Cubs fan) because he said it was hypocritical of me to root for Big 10 Teams (besides OSU, I will never root for them in anything) in bowl games but not to want other NL Central teams to win in the playoffs. Maybe it is hypocritical, but its just how I have always felt. In terms of the MLB playoffs, all I really care about is that the Cards are sitting at home a day after the regular season ends.

Just a heads up, I've never heard of Redfin. I bought a home 3 years ago without an agent and have been browsing listings the last year or so. It doesn't appear to be available in Wisconsin at all. If Redfin is limited in its areas, you're limiting your list of potential buyers to only people in those areas in which they advertise since to me it doesn't seem too popular. I agree that MLS is important--people who search "the new-old fashioned way" by going to Coldwell Banker / Century 21/ etc. websites can still find your through their sites. Realtors can also find you easily for old folks who don't use computers. It seemed like when I used Realtor.com in the past, I wasn't too excited about it. It seems to be better now, though. Thanks for the great advise. It is appreciated. If I can ask, you can't get onto Redfin.com at all? But you can use Realtor.com? As an aside, both of those site just pull their listing from the MLS. You don't actually upload anything to the sites. You just need someone with a broker's license to put your listing on the MLS (thats where the flat fee broker for $300-400 would come in) then it gets populated on all the major buyer search sites, as well as in the MLS for buyer brokers to look through and give to their clients. So I think I could reach everyone a Realtor could. I don't mean to come down too hard on selling brokers. I just really am having trouble seeing much of an advantage still. Its a big first step, and admittedly a little scary, but every day that passes I think I can do it on my own more and more.

Thats very similar to what I am considering, except I would use a lock box and let the buyer's broker show them around so I don't have to be home. Similar to what others were saying about trying to get the commission down a bit, I found this site: http://www.hungryagents.com/ . You post information about your place and agents compete for your use. I might give that a try and see what some of the offers come in at. If someone wants to sell it for 1% or so, then it may be worth it.
