  1. I think Melvin loves Cordero. He was clearly the centerpiece of that deal, even though many will have you believe Mench was. That's just not true. Cordero is like an everyday player, he's the rare closer that can handle a big workload and make a difference in 75-80% of the teams games. His Win Shares have gotta be off the charts Mariano Rivera good right now.
  2. Good call. Ping: free time.
  3. Anyone here listen to Bob and Brian? That was my "I'm calling it" moment.
  4. The Mustache usually doesn't value relievers that highly, either. Cordero was the exception, not the rule.
  5. One for two. Estrada can be a jerk but he's more in an AJ Pierszynski kinda way. The other one is Graffy. He can grate on guys from time to time. I'm sure he's being pretty quiet now but remember when he first came here there was something with him and Fielder.
  6. Back in the day when I sang in a rock band, we wanted to name ourselves "TBA" and just show up to shows where TBA was scheduled. "Hey, we're the band....TBA. Where should we set up?" http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  7. Jose K is in AAA? Wow, that doesn't seem right. There's a lot of teams that could use him in the majors as a reserve infielder with some pop. If Valentin can re-establish himself as a useful player, then why not Jo-se 2?
  8. I think the Braves will probably keep him, and move one of the two catchers to 1B. Not sold on Thorman. About him being a jag, there's a lot of players in the majors like that. Gotta deal with it. That being said, wouldn't want him on the Brewers. We only have a couple guys like that right now....oddly enough they are both among the most talked about "likely to be moved" guys (you figure it out).
  9. www.projectprospect.com/w...n-9-11-06/ In the article, Inman says: "...I go after hitters with all of my pitches, which are fastball, slurve, and changeup." Hope that helps.
  10. Hmmm, I'd rather call up Capellan than trade him for Lidge.
  11. I never said we WOULD get Nick Masset, I believe what I said is "read above". "Keep Brewerfan beautiful". No need to rip me for saying something I didn't even say. Nowhere in there did I say we could get Nick Masset for Mench. He is, however, the one player I'd like from the White Sox. He's probably pretty close to untouchable. Williams thinks he was the key to the McCarthy deal, even though he's scuffled through the season to date. Ok, friends now? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  12. What did other teams offer OAK for Rich Harden when he was a spec? The Brewers are in the same boat as Oakland, they need to manage their resources in a financial and personnel aspect. I think everyone around the league realizes Gallardo is going nowhere. I know it's fun to speculate sometimes, but we need to get on board with that, too. We aren't going to get Carl Crawford.
  13. If we could get Nick Masset then I'd REALLY pee my pants. Won't happen, Kenny Williams wants to have his children.
  14. I'm sure Melvin has a list of 100 "sleepers" in the low minors right now, every GM does. Villanueva was on that list once, find someone else and deal this clown. You think the Nationals couldn't "use" him?
  15. No one really talks much about Chuck James. He looks a lot like Cappy at his best to me. Left handed control specialists are fun when they're on their game.
  16. Oh goody, Mench got a seeing eye single. That should be enough for him to get a few starts this week. Anger mounting....
  17. You wouldn't get anywhere near his worth, because it's still all "potential". Yo should not be dealt unless we're getting a perennial all-star in return. Everyone talks about our pitching staff being solid. The last three weeks tell a different story. We have a bunch of "good" starters, but lack "great" ones. I think Gallardo can be that guy, so why deal him?
  18. Then why is he on the roster? My anger for Mench is blurring reality, sorry.
  19. Why does this guy keep getting playing time though? I don't get Yost's distaste for Hart at all.
  20. Kevin Mench had a great start to the season. Considering that, his current .263/.267/..395 line is an embarrassment. He's blocking Hart from getting quality time. Last year in a small sample Hart had numbers comparable to Carlos Lee production, plus speed and much better defense. Also, given his comments in Spring Training, Mench can't be a good locker room person right now. Jenkins had similar comments, but came out and proved himself and earned his PT. Mench seemed to at first, but it's a mirage. No player can be successful in the big leagues with plate discipline as brutal as Mench (I am of course referring to the 1 walk in 114 AB's). I've heard all the speculation that Melvin "wants to prove his Lee trade was worth it". Forget that. Lee for Cordero straight up was worth it. The Mench train has derailed, big time. He needs to go. I'd rather have Laynce Nix on the roster, to be quite honest. Better yet, a 12th pitcher or Vinny Rottino. So, who wants Mench? Can we get ANYTHING for him now? Discuss.
  21. I still think that we're too quick to give up on Jenkins. I would be very happy to see him in the starting lineup come Opening Day.
  22. Does this mean the Brewers would keep Geoff Jenkins then?? If so, I kinda like it, but I still hope Melvin is holding out for a bit more.
  23. It gets hard for me to commit to things that happen on the weekend evenings, but I'll certainly try to pop in.
