  1. When it comes to change, I'm neither for it or against it, however, I enjoy the simplicity of this site. No frills, I like it that way. The only 2 things I'd change is making the ability to post pics something everyone can do easily. It sees like you have to know secrets on this board to do it. The other I already mentioned, a LIKE button.
  2. 2 or 3 million in a short span of time is in fact, life changing. If I make 2 million in a 30 - 35 year career, that's different. If I make 2 - 3 million in less than 5 years, and have the rest of my life to still earn, you better believe, 2-3 million is life changing... Also, how can anyone say 2 - 3 million isn't life changing unless they have experienced having that kind of money. I can say for 100% sure that 2 - 3 million would change my life now, and would have changed my life 30 years ago, and every year in between.
  3. That commissioners have more job security than kings despite being despised by players and fans alike tells us just how well the owners are doing. I'm not sure why the owners would fire Manfred if they think he is doing a good job. If he is still under their employment, they must like what he is doing, or not doing.

  5. Then went on strike, no playoffs, no world series...
  6. ...and those who have no means to keep having children, keep having more children. It's nice that those who know children will be a hardship, don't keep pumping them out. It would be even nicer if those that can't afford it would do the same.
  7. The process has been nothing short of gross.
  8. Barney Stinson wrote a whole "Bro Code," and Robin and Lily were two of his best Bros. (How many here will get this reference?) HIMYM The bigger question is, how many WON'T get it? Loved that show the first couple seasons, then lost interest, but I still catch a re-run occasionally and can appreciate it.
  9. just "yikes" is sufficient. no need to exclude other gender identities. I can't tell if you are serious or not. But "Bro" is gender nuetral. It's used for male, female, whatever, even animals... If it has a pulse, it can be a "bro." FYI
  10. Yep, already part of the package! At first I'll just use the base Twins Daily reacts (currently Like, Sad, Yikes Bro, ***, and Incorrect) but those can be easily changed to fit whatever the community here wants. Okay... so one of them is starred out here. :D Obviously, that one will change. LIKE
  11. I'd love to see a "like" button, or something similar. That would save people from posting things like "yes", "agreed", etc... Just a thought...
  12. Yup, I can't do it either. Like I said, I'm loyal to a fault, and simply can't switch my allegiances no matter what happens.
  13. So your argument, basically, is that parity is bad, and that fans of the less fortunate teams just have to suck it up and take it. There should be no attempts at leveling the playing field, let the haves thrive, and the have nots burn. Can't get on board with that line of thinking. If I knew for 100% certain, that my team would not make the playoffs due to what you are suggesting for the next 20 years, I can pretty much tell you that I would switch my allegiance to a different team. I love the sport too much to drop it all together, so rather than put myself through the daily stresses of a baseball season, knowing my team can't compete with the "haves," it would be a better move to follow the Yankees or Dodgers. If too many fans did that, the have nots would fold. Without zero fan support, going to games and buying merch, teams will have no chance to survive. I could never do that, I'm loyal to a fault, but you know most MLB fans would. So much more can be said on this topic, but it is just a silly premise to begin with...
  14. How many owners in MLB are 100% owners, with no others to divvy up profits with? I'm guessing very few, so actually, if a club is making 40 million a year, and has to divvy that up between 8-10 other partial owners (with differing % depending on the % of the team each owner owns) then I think you could argue that the owners make very little and players could easily eclipse the amount made by an owner(s). In fact, there could be multiple players on any given team making more than the owner(s). It's all silly, get a deal done and let's PLAY BALL!
  15. C'mon man... I almost feel like you posted this just to get everyone all worked up.
  16. They aren't missing out on anything they didn't choose to miss out on. Based on our own individual choices, we all miss out on things, it's the way life is. If they don't want to travel 9 months a year and live out of hotels, and make millions, they don't have to. If they don't like the "grind" and making millions, they are free to stop the "grind." We all have routines, jobs, and lives, they just happen to be paid FAR more than the rest of us. Not just FAR more, but an incomprehensible amount more than the rest of us. Sorry, even when you try and make it sound like they lead such horrible lives, I don't feel the least bit sorry for them. They are blessed with a talent that 99.99999% of the rest of the world does not have, and get paid handsomely for that talent. If they don't like what comes with it, they are completely free to do something else.
  17. ESA? EDIT: My bad, emotional support animal. It is hard for me to understand how or why such a thing even exists. I frequently have to laugh at what our society has become over the last decade....or two.
  18. Eh, I don't think that's as true and you want it to be. I remember sitting near the SkySox bullpen a few years ago and overheard [sarcasm]Brewer's great[/sarcasm] Mike Zagurski say "I really don't like baseball but I like what it pays me." To varying degrees, I'm sure this is the feeling of the vast majority of players. Ryan Braun told me he wasn't a baseball fan at spring training one time. It made me sad but but it also made me realize for the first time at age 30whatever that many if not most of the players don't love the game anywhere near as me. It's an even bigger problem in basketball where simply being tall can be enough to push people to play. That is sad to me. What provoked him to make such a comment. Sounds like a douchy thing to say to a fan...
  19. I don't favor one or the other, I just can't sympathize with people who get paid millions and millions and millions of dollars to play a game. I don't think the owners are any more guilty than the players when it comes down to ironing out their differences. I think they are both greedy, and don't give a rip about us, the fans.
  20. Disagree. The average working guy disagrees as well. It is extremely relevant to people making 60K how much players make, and turn down. Again, using Soto as an example. Dude turns down 350 million and expects regular working guys to feel bad for him? I'm laughing out loud! Opinion, not fact. Do players even have a "plight" if they turn down 350 million?
  21. I get that baseball players at the MLB level have a very rare and valuable skill set. But look at the median family income in this country ($79,900). Then look at the minimum salary of a first year MLB player ($570,500). No one is playing for free. There are very, very few people who can logically relate to the "plight" the players are feeling at the moment. I think that some owners love baseball. I wish more did. But some of them simply love making money. In the end, that's how they earned enough of it to even purchase an MLB franchise. It is what it is. Agreed. I honestly don't mind how rich the owners are. They have a high risk / high reward business. They have to pump loads of money into that businees. It doesn't bother me that they make gobs of money as long as they put some back into their teams to stay competitive. I don't like the fact that we villainize rich business owners in this country. If they made their money legit, more power to them. (this train of thought is coming from a teacher, who is married to another teacher) I'm all for capitalism, it's the foundation of our nation. Where would we be without it? That aside, when guys like Soto turn down 350 million, it doesn't sit well with ordinary average guys like me. That kind of money sets up generations of his family, not just him. The money the players make resonates with me, not the owners. Players, even those on the low end of the pay scale are set up for life if they manage it correctly. Let's say you play 5 years at 600 k, that is 3 million. Regular working stiffs don't make that in a lifetime. It's just impossible for me to take the players side when they can make 600K to 30 million per season. Oh woe is them... I don't even mind that they make that kind of money, they have a special skill set, and deserve it, but crying to the general public falls on deaf ears imho.
  22. I've seen this before, and if you click on the year it will give you a prompt to change the year. It's just not obvious that you can do that. I usually give websites/apps fake birthdays and other fake personal information, unless it is needed for payment or something official. same, no need to give out the correct information on the nonsense websites.
  23. Maybe they would have, maybe they wouldn't have. The difference would be that while the two sides were negotiating there still would have been baseball happening. I'm not saying the players are "good guys" & owners are "villains", just that when you compare both sides actions & proposals against one another the owners are far more villainous. Right now the players are essentially Gard & the owners are more or less Juwan Howard. Ok, well, that is your opinion........man.
