  1. There is no "max" that we can give him. We can even go over the salary cap to resign our own players, although we are significantly below the cap right now.
  2. Being only 24, I think he will improve at running the team. We really have no choice but to overpay for him or we are screwed. That's just the way it works. We have the cap room so let's get it done.
  3. New salary cap came out today and now Miami can only offer him 5.4 million per year. When it's all said and done, I'd bet we'll give him 5 years and 42 million while Miami can only do 5 years and 27 million. You can't leave 15 million on the table. Mo has to be re-signed or we are basically screwed this year and probably longer. He is not the best point guard around, but he did average almost 18 ppg last year with decent assist totals and is only 24 years old. For those against the signing, you can't tell me you want Bell, Blake, or Francis running this team.
  4. 67% seems a bit on the low end.
  5. I'm not going to argue further whether there was a better chance of the best hitter this decade getting a hit instead of Hudson or Rowand. Remember nerves factor into a situation like this, also giving a big nod to Pujols. Also, not tying the game gives you zero chance of getting to extra innings for the win. There are 8 other all-star players in the lineup to have to worry about what you do if you happen to end up with the pitcher batting in a crucial situation. I'm not saying that Pujols not playing lost the game. I'm just saying there was a much better chance of winning had he played. What did the AL have left for position players?
  6. I would guess that his career .330 average and .418 OB%could make a difference. Call me crazy. Although he is down to a pathetic .310/.411 so far this year.
  7. Can we stop talking about him batting for Rowand please? The guy he needed to pinch hit for was Hudson who is a weak hitting 2nd baseman. Granted he drew a walk, but we needed a big hit there and Pujols has delivered a whole lot more big hits than Orlando Hudson in the past. The fact the recent past MVP of the league and 2nd place vote getter at 1st base does not get into the game while Derek Lee gets 3 AB's is ridiculous.
  8. Pujold should have pinch hit for Hudson, not Rowand. Sanchez would have moved to 2nd and Pujols could have played 3rd. The game was there to be won and LaRussa blew it. By the way, the manager should not be from the World Series teams if this game counts. It should be the manager from the team with the best record in each division since those managers have more invested in this season than say someone like LaRussa has. Hardy should have played more than 1 inning.
  9. She looks like the younger sister of Adrianne Curry who married the Brady bunch dude.
  10. All accounts, although pretty typical in a situation like this, is that she is the type of person that something like this would never happen to. I just read that she recently served a jail sentence for her 2nd DUI and was obviously drunk on this particular night. Now I am not saying she deserved what happened to her or anything like that, it just seems like she had a problem with alcohol and kept putting herself in bad situations so that it was only a matter of time before something bad did happen to her. I also read her father died in 2006 and her stepmom died in May so that probably had something to do with the drinking. Seems like she needed more help than she was getting. Very sad.
  11. In my many games I have attended at Miller Park, I have never sat in the Bleachers. I am going to a game that I need 12 seats for and found section 102 Row 9 on Stub Hub. Can someone let me know if those are decent seats that are unobstructed. Thanks
  12. Boston trading for Ray Allen and his bloated contract and busted ankles is puzzling to me. Seems like he Knicks made a great trade in getting Zach Randolph. Yi was a great pick and now we can start two 7 footers and maybe even a 6'11 in Charlie V at the 3 spot. Could be scary good.
  13. One thing I wish I had more knowledge about and wish I could get more involved in is the stock market. What is the best way to learn more about it?
  14. You DO NOT need a phone line connected to have DirectTV. You just can't order PPV. Also, you do not need a landline for Roadrunner through Time Warner. My wife and I use cell phones only, which is the way to go these days. Why throw away $35.00 per month for a landline. Anyways, all they do is run a cable to the modem and you are all set.
  15. I took small issue with sitting Braun. Our offense is struggling and he needs to be in there. I also took issue with Gross as our DH again. He is awful right now and should not see the field for awhile. I would rather see Mench or Gwynn as the DH. Lastly, I took issue with not pinch hitting in the 9th for either Counsell or Graffy just to mix it up and try to get something going. We were only down 4 and basically just gave up. Please put Hart back at leadoff until Weeks is back and healthy.
  16. Somewhat relevant to this thread, Christian Okoye was just on the CBS show Pirate Master, although he was voted out last week, just the second week of the show.
  17. I believe that you can now claim some portion of your rent on your taxes. I believe it happened the year after I was no longer in an apartment to qualify. I love having a house. Currently working on upgrading just about everything in it and it's a lot of work, but it's fun.
  18. No, it's not. In fact, many times the installer will do it for you. You are already paying for the service, so you are not stealing anything. This is true. But it works well when you have 2 kids and they can have regular cable on TV's in their bedrooms without having to pay extra. I get all my digital TV watching done in the living and family rooms. Then in bed I typically just watch the news until I fall asleep.
  19. Probably not relevant to apartment living but I like cable for the sole reason of being able to split it to as many TV's as I want. I have 2 DVR's boxes with 1 being an HD, and am splitting to 5 other TV's. You need a box for every TV with satellite. Also, regarding DVR boxes, you rent them with cable but have to purchase one with satellite for around $400.00 I believe.
  20. I realize Graffy got off to a horrible start, but his bat is really coming around lately(.455 in June) and has hit pretty well the past 3 years, right around .280. Wiggington has a little more pop, but right now has an OB% of .306, just slightly higher than Graffy's .303. Graffy has a better career average and OB%. Just don't see the point in making a trade like this unless we were able to get rid of Mench as well.
  21. You do not pay any capital gains taxes on the sale of your first home no matter how much you make off of it. Capital gains taxes are applicable on all homes after that.
  22. I would suggest just going through Homeowner's Concept. The house I bought was listed through them and it went really well. You pay a flat rate and not a commission %. I think you pay something like $3,000 no matter what the house sells for. I sold my house by owner 2 years ago and if that didn't work, I would have definitely used these guys. http://www.homeownersconcept.com/sell.php
  23. You don't pay sales tax, you pay income tax. It is consideres taxable income. So basically you add on, in this case, $3,000 onto your earnings in which you paid no taxes on. Hence it ended up costing me around $800 off my tax return. Still worth it though, but the government should not get a cut of something someone decided to give away as a gift. I guess maybe it is done to offset the tax right-off that Flanners claims by donating the prize.
  24. I won a 32" Sony plasma and Sony surround sound stereo about 4 years ago on Bob abd Brian's throbbing brain contest. I won it 2 days before the Super Bowl and Flanners was at my house the next morning to install is. The nice thing about winning something like that, obviously, is having the items. What people tend to forget are the taxes you pay. The prize package at the time was valued at around $5,000. I claimed the price I found it for on the internet around tax time which was about $3,000- so my "prize" still cost me about $800.00. I am not complaing by any means as I love the TV and it looks awesome, just scratch my head that nothing is truly free in this world.
  25. I guess this is a matter of terminology and people definition of words. I consider cheating on your wife to be despicable, amongst other words not appropriate for this site. I've been married for 8 years and have 2 children. Cheating throws that all away. If you are unhappy, get a divorce like a civilized person would do. Don't get with a random 19 year old girl just to do it. And in bringing up public figures from century's ago, I would guess that doing this type of thing was very common and more acceptable back then. I would think we would have evolved as a society more at this point, but many times I wonder. What we need to stop doing is comparing horrible acts to similar horrible acts as if to justify by saying "see, look who else did this, or this happens all the time." Please don't tell me that adultery is ok because FDR did it.
