  1. My only worry about Corey leading off is about who bats 5th. Maybe Rickie would do well as the #2 hitter and Cam could move to #5. I don't know, honestly. If things stay the same, I wouldn't be terribly disappointed. I think Hart is perfect for the 5 spot, but he could also be a good guy to have leading off. I'm pretty torn. I think the biggest problem, unless you mess with the lineup some more, is that if you move around Cameron or Weeks, they'll probably end up near Hall, which means you would have two guys in a row that strike out too much. Maybe that doesn't matter at all, but my knee-jerk reaction makes me feel like it would.
  2. Seriously, I would rather have Gallardo hit than Gwynn.
  3. FSN appears to be replaying this game in its entirety tonight. Whether that is a good thing or a bad thing remains to be seen. Thanks Hawing. I feel a little better now http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  4. So Uecker is doing the 7th inning stretch? Why can't they wait for a night game so I can actually see it? Lame. This makes me hate the Cubs even more.
  5. Anyone but Zambrano or Ramirez or Soriano. I could even stand a Fukudome or Soto home run, but not Zambrano...
  6. I agree. Stetter is on right now. Between him and Shouse, we shouldn't give up another hit to a lefty. It's also nice to have a guy like that show some emergence so that moving Turnbow won't handcuff the bullpen.
  7. Thanks for pointing that out Robin19. Sometimes I get a little carried away http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Man, I hope so. That would mean we somehow got out of the contract!
  8. Yeah, this has been an issue for me. I'm in 2015 right now in my franchise, and Braun has had a pretty pathetic career so far. He's fine when I'm playing the games, but for some reason he struggles really bad in simulations. I've tried him at 3 and 4, hoping it might make a difference, but every year he's around .250 with 20 homers or less. Prince, on the other hand, dominates like crazy, and his attributes, other than power, are worse than Braun's. I'm still getting annoyed with the Power/Contact thing. Every new prospect has insane power but no contact. The entire league right now if full of guys that project to be Richie Sexson. The weird thing is that they're all really fast, too. Power/Speed guys that can't make solid contact. Awesome.
  9. Seriously, I've been waiting for just one game where FSN gets this right. This is just amazing to me. I have never had a problem with the FSN broadcast until this year. So, here's my thought-process. Someone correct me if I'm way off. I imagine someone that produces a broadcast for a baseball game would be a baseball fan. Perhaps I'm wrong on that, but I really hope I'm not. Since I'm a baseball fan, I'll put myself in that place. If I'm flipping the switch on the cameras, I imagine it would be as easy as, well, flipping a switch. I would watch the game, and go to the cameras that I would wish to see if I was watching the game. So how can this producer repeatedly fail to switch between the camera on the pitcher and the camera behind the pitcher? I don't want to see a close-up of the pitcher's nose hairs when the pitch is on its way. This is getting ridiculous. I think I need to take some time off from FSN and just listen to the games on the radio for awhile. Maybe things will be better when I come back.
  10. Yup, and as everyone else said, it's a pretty good spot. I was there last year for a Saturday night game, and I'll be there at the end of June for that Saturday-Sunday. The Home Run Porch is a fairly decent deal. You're on the 1st level in LF, and it's only about $25. Personally, I'd rather sit there than on the infield at the Metrodome. Also, thanks for the link, Glennron http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif It looks like a beautiful park. Unfortunately it will probably be freezing when they open it since it will be in April, but I would love to be there the inaugural year when the Brewers head over. It's also nice to see they're changing up the food service; Metrodome food is awful.
  11. At first glance, the road games would make me think the record is not going to be good. But then I realized that 7 of those games are against Washington and Pittsburgh. I'll agree with BCin04 and say 18-11.
  12. I'm confused. Going back through this thread, you've defended every move of Yost's that has been questioned. When were you in the anti-Ned camp?
  13. Yeah, it's pretty sad. I don't think Twins fans even realize how amazing it's going to be to get a new park (this was approved, right?). As far as the sightlines, the seats aren't too bad. But pretty much everything else is pretty terrible. I mean, they can't even get simple food items right. I was getting hungry so I chanced the Metrodome food; I got an insanely stale soft pretzel. "Soft" doesn't really describe it. If they build an open-air park, I would rather sit in 20 degree weather in April than sit in the Metrodome. But you can make it fun if you have good company.
  14. Man, this is hard. I've supported Turnbow for a long time, but seriously, dude has things to work on. And I realize that's quite an understatement. DFA him. If he clears waivers, he can hopefully work things out and come back in September. If he gets picked up, that's about $3 million we don't have to pay for. Joe D's bat has a much better chance of helping us win games right now (not that Turnbow would have made a difference tonight anyways).
  15. After an absolute beatdown, the top thread on brewerfan.net is the Silver Lining Thread http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I'm so proud to be here. We scored 5 runs, and if we had scored 5 runs in every other game this year, we would be 26-1. I made that stat up. Uecker is always good for a silver lining quote. In the 9th inning: "Well, maybe they'll be tired tomorrow."
  16. I'm not explaining the probabilities thing again, but if you'd like you can go back and read my posts where I have addressed this at least twice. Just because Ned does something that works doesn't make it right. Your argument says that as well, just as much as it makes your own points. Yes, sometimes right and sometimes wrong, but it's about the PROBABILITY that the decision will be right. In my opinion, Ned's decisions don't give us as good of a PROBABILITY of being successful as someone that makes what I feel are the right decisions. Then why do you continue to ignore this and call hindsight? Good point. This is exactly why I was upset that Yost brought in Shouse to face Votto when Suppan was at 85 pitches and seemingly untouchable. I was looking ahead to the 9th inning when Griffey and Dunn would be coming up, and Shouse has owned those two. But unfortunately that would have kept Gagne from being able to come in for the save.
  17. I also say these things from the confines of Miller Park. If Ned Yost was in front of me, I would say them. Just because I don't have control over the team doesn't mean that Ned Yost's decisions are better than mine. Your argument has no logical point to it. And I have never blamed Ned Yost for everything. I don't blame Ned Yost for carrying 14 pitchers, and I actually thought it was clever to use Suppan as a better guy to bunt when other options were exhausted. But sometimes, most times, those gimmicks are unnecessary. With a young team, they can help, but when you have a good team with some years under their belt, they don't need gimmicks anymore. They are perfectly capable of winning a baseball game without that crap. I don't even care what other managers do in different situations. Can any of you seriously justify the "contact play"?
  18. Do you mean the 2nd level? We were on the 1st level last year (Home Run Porch) and we had specific seats, so it wasn't general admission. But I agree, if you're in the right place, they are very good seats. I've always appreciated outfield seats everywhere I go, though. I also agree that it would be nice to get "good" seats when visiting a park for the first time, but the Metrodome is just a completely different monster. That place is a pile, and soon will be a literal pile. I guess there's a little bit of value in "seeing it before it goes" http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. Give Counsell less starts. I don't understand how Counsell gives us a better chance of winning just by getting more starts. Maybe I'm not making the connection. If it was a young guy like Gwynn, I would say that more starts could be beneficial. But the entire reason to have a veteran like Counsell is the fact that he can come off the bench or give you a start when needed. He doesn't need to be given starts just to stay fresh. I guess the only way I would justify starting someone that isn't good enough to start is if they are developing, and then only in the minors for the most part. That's why I would rather have Branyan and/or Dillon up and Gwynn down. Now that Cameron is here, Gwynn isn't going to play much. If we really think Gwynn is still a prospect (not starting this argument please), then wouldn't he benefit from regular playing time? Branyan, Dillon, and Counsell aren't going to get any better with playing time. They are what they are. They don't need to start more.
  20. I'll be there for that series. My brother and his fiancee live in Minneapolis and my girlfriend and I will be headed there to visit and for, well, the same games. Saturday and Sunday http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Last year we sat in the Home Run Porch (LF), and I'm pretty sure that's where our tickets are again. We actually met some pretty cool people from Wisconsin at the end of it because the Brewers were winning and all the Twins fans left. We jumped up to the front row and met up with all the Brewer fans that were the only ones left. Unfortunately I left Sunday morning even though we contemplated the Sunday afternoon game. So I ended up missing Prince's inside-the-park homer. If you've never been to the Metrodome, it is definitely an experience. Take County Stadium down many notches, add in crappy food, and you've got the Metrodome. Oh, and be careful walking out after the game in the area between the doors. You'll see what I mean.
  21. So does this mean you're done having fun with Pitch f/x? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

  23. I definitely agree, I just wonder how long Prince will be kept around if he doesn't sign an extension since his arby will be expensive. If it's projected that RF will be open before 1B, or vice versa, it may change the way LaPorta and GAmel are handled in the minors.
  24. Ha, I just came onto this thread to post the same thing. I was gonna say give us Inman back for Gwynn. The Sox are living in a dream world asking for Headley in exchange for Crisp. Perhaps this should be in the trade forum?
  25. I'm not sure if this has been posted yet, but this is an interesting way to examine manager tendencies. The study doesn't decide if managers are better or worse, but puts a "face" on the manager based on their tendencies compared to league averages. Study Yost is in the bottom-right corner. He looks scared.
