  1. I don't know because I'm ususally not negative, especially when it comes to the Crew. Maybe its the crappy weather up here or more likely yesterday's game. Havin a hard time getting over that one. I'm done with the negativity now. Thanks for calling me out. I'd definitely have to go with 2 brats though (actually italians)
  2. Oh I missed that. Sorry to hear of someone's loss. Anyone else thought of the possibility of Braun going back to struggling following the string of 4 straight lefties we have/are facing. I'm hoping all these AB's against LH pitchers are just what the doctor ordered, but I do have concerns that it may end as quickly as it began when we face several righties in a row...
  3. BREWERS 2B Rickie Weeks CF Gabe Kapler LF Ryan Braun 1B Prince Fielder RF Corey Hart 3B Bill Hall SS JJ Hardy P Yovani Gallardo C Jason Kendall
  4. This probably doesn't count because it wasn't in Milwaukee, but I was at a fall league game 2 falls ago at Scottsdale Stadium and Vuke was there scouting and a few innings later Yount showed up and sat with Vuke (Robin's son was playing for the opposing fall league team). I ended up talking to Robin for a few minutes that night and got my picture taken with him. He was really nice. Vuke on the other hand wanted nothing to do with the fans and wouldn't sign. Might have had a lot to do with the fact that he was working.
  5. Back during Ray King's first tour with the Crew, I used to see him down on Water frequently (usually at McGillicuddy's) and also several times at the casino. Always solo
  6. Sorry about that. I guess I couldn't come up with much for tonights game yet, still frustrated by yesterday - I shouldn't have posted that here.
  7. Yeah it probably is kind of off - topic, sorry. I was just trying to stir up some conversation to pass the time til the game. I totally agree with you that a manager isn't going to help himself by always calling out struggling players and what not, but at the same time I would like to hear him tell it like it is once in a while. I do not want to here from him that Corey was just being aggressive. Making the first out at third with the ball hit in front of you to left field is not being aggressive - its being stupid. And as far as I know he said nothing of both Weeks and Hall getting picked off. I would just like to hear him say that fundamental mistakes like that can lead to losing close games like yesterday. And I would hope he is more candid in private with the players, but I am beginning to have my doubts with the way some of these problems seem to be reoccuring.
  8. Anyone else feel discouraged today after reading the journal sentinel by all the things that Ned continues to sugarcoat when it comes to the team?
  9. I sure hope Riske can turn it around. I don't like it when we experiment to see if he can turn it around in a tie game and it costs us the game. I would take Torres any day of the week over Riske
  10. Digger was actually there? Couldn't agree more with your summation of the game. Riske cannot be trusted right now. I like Hart a lot, but I don't see the same fire as last year. Its early and you already have todays baserunning blunder, him failing to be ready to throw home on a very shallow fly to right and then making a poor, rushed throw to allow 2 runs to score on the play, and then him AGAIN not being ready to throw home on another shallow fly to right against the Cards the other night and luckily the man at 3rd didn't try to score
  11. I agree with you right now that in many people's eyes, If a move is successful the player is complimented, if it tanks the manager is criticized. I was at the game last night and my entire section devoted their energy in 5th - 8th inning to talking about how Yost blew the game for not taking Bush out. I know what you guys are saying when it comes to "fair-weather" fans like that - they love it when it works out and berate when it doesn't. But to me it was a huge mistake because in my opinion bringing in Riske into a tie game in the 8th when you have several better options is like bringing your most struggling batter into PH for the most crucial AB of the game when you have several better options to PH. Riske is STRUGGLING right now! Take a look at his last 5 outtings
  12. Exactly. It worries me that is how he treats the problem behind closed doors too. I really hope he doesnt sugarcoat everything to the player the way he does to the press
  13. That may be, but I am NOT that fan. If he goes with the best option or possibly even the #2 option and we lose, I will be the first to say that we got beat and that is all there is to it. But he brought in Riske, who hasn't gotten anyone out lately and its not like he is getting beat on good pitches and just getting unlucky, He is getting beat on fat pitches down the middle. I'm sorry, but this particular fan saw it coming when Riske can in for the 8th. Riske just does not have it right now and should not be used late in close games. I really hope he turns it around, but he is not the man right now
  14. I'm sure it is far from a managers favorite task to go out and deal with the press after a loss, but it is part of the job (a job many would kill to have). Act like a professional. What do I want you to say Ned? That given the options in the bullpen today that you went with the wrong guy and that apparently Riske's spot is the middle of the plate because that is where he seems to throw every pitch
  15. I love how Yost acts like he is above reproach
  16. Exactly my thoughts. And not only did they lose, but they lost in ugly fashion. The offense did not execute, they had 3 baserunning blunders, and we wasted a gem by Soup with about our 5th best guy out of the bullpen
  17. So he has given up 6 ER in his last 3 innings and has given up runs in 3 of his last 4 outtings. And isnt he supposed to be a multiple inning guy in this bullpen? And if you include today he has given up 8 ER in his last 3 2/3 innings. Wow, stellar. But thats who gets brought into a tie game in the 8th when there are about 4 other options. All I am trying to say that Riske should have been about option #4
  18. You can get exorbitantly overpriced fuel anywhere, you don't need to limit yourself to Kwik Trip http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Just when you think the Brewers can make for a real depressing afternoon, someone has to remind us about gas prices - that's like kicking a man while he's down http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif Sorry for the buzz kill. I was just trying to imitate Gumby's pronounciation skills
  19. Until he gives up some runs and then we move on to the next guy. Is is not always that easy and we know that every reliever will have bad days. Torres has had some rough times as well if my memory serves. Look at Torres's numbers and Riske's. And I ask again, when was the last time Riske had a clean outting? Torres has been great for us this year and he was obviously available. Riske has not been so great
  20. Yes, the offense has definitely not helped today (especially the baserunning)...but... Note to Ned - in the 8th inning of a tie game, Torres>>>>>>Riske
  21. Jim Gantner has just encouraged me to go buy some of the great exorbantly overpriced top tier fuew at Kwik Trip. So Torres was available for the 9th but not the 8th? When was the last time Riske had a clean outting?
  22. Last time I checked - at least with the way he made it sound
  23. agreed. and if we go on to lose this game everyone will remember Riske and forget about the awful at bats with runners in scoring position and the poor baserunning. I will remember both, but that doesn't excuse Riske from having 2 outs with nobody on and still giving up 2 runs. I wasnt calling for another move to the bullpen - I stated long before Riske came in for the 8th that I did not want to see him. He has been terrible
