I am really, really hoping for a league MVP acceptance speech at some point. Is there anyone that still doubts Morris will be an .825-.875 OPS 1B at this point? Mixing in solid defense as well will make him a 3-4 WAR kind of guy.

Helena 6 Missoula (D'Backs) 2 Box Score Oh, to be 20 year old Raul Mondesi Jr. For one, your named after a pretty dang good ball player. Two, your younger brother Adalberto (by 3 years) is in the same league as you, got a bonus 10 fold plus more than you and is out performing you at the plate. And three, your MiLB career thus far has been defined by a mental miscue while trying to taunt another team. It is for these reasons that I have found myself cheering extra hard for Raul. So today, when I saw the box score, I was very happy for him. He went only 1-4, and he did K 3 times, but he mashed the game winning grand slam with 2-outs in the 6th. It is technically his 1st homer on the season, and it was a big. Oh, and I think teams are starting to fear his arm. I mean, he hasn't recorded an OF assist in over a week. Michael Reed got all south of the border with 4 K in 4 AB. 3-hitter Chris McFarland (2-4) continues his offensive onslaught. Chris did commit his 4th error. As the Pioneer League season draws out, I hope to see a few more XBH's from McFarland, but he is clearly on track for a full season assignment out of camp next season and he may get some WI AB's at some point yet this season. 4-hitter Adam Giacalone (2-3 BB) his coming alive a bit. I was pretty excited when we signed him away from Tennessee for slot money (100K). Will West got the start and was good enough for me. 5 IP 7 H 2 R 2 ER 2 BB 6 K 1 WP 4:3 GO:FO. The relievers were very good tonight. Mike Francisco and Connor Whalen combined for 4 IP 1 H 0 R 1 BB 1 K. Game Log

Lamb's 2 RBI day not enough for O's 07/08/2012 8:15 PM ET Missoula Osprey HELENA, MONT - Jake Lamb had two hits and two RBIs, while Evan Mrzilli went 3-for-4 at the plate, but the Missoula Osprey struggled to score runs once again here at Kindrick Legion Field, as the Helena Brewers managed to work out a 6-2 win in front of 373 fans. Raul Mondesi, Jr. hit a grand slam with two out in the bottom of the sixth to give the Brewers the lead for good, 5-2. Helena would add another run in the bottom of the seventh to close out the scoring. Yoimer Camacho started for the Osprey on the mound, and pitched three strong innings in his first outing since suffering a sprained ankle at Billings on June 21. Camacho allowed a run on two hits and a walk, while striking out six batters. Ross Gerdeman (1-2) would pitch the final five innings, striking out seven, but allowing five runs in taking the setback. Pedro Ruiz added two hits and scored both Osprey runs, while Breland Almadova added a double and a stolen base for Missoula, who collected eight hits on the day. The Osprey and Brewers finish up their three game series on Monday at Kindrick Legion Field at 7:05 p.m. The Osprey will send right-hander Chris Pack to the mound, while the Brewers will counter with right-hander Michael Schaub.

Helena 8 Missoula (D'Backs) 1 Box Score Very solid win all around for the H-Crew. The pitchers were not scored upon until the 9th inning. Tyler Wagner made a successful 1 inning start. Preston Gainey followed with 2 scoreless and 3 K. Brent Suter came on in the 4th and was fantastic recording 16 outs and giving up only 1 run. Martin Viramontes recorded the final 2 outs via the K wrapping up a well pitched game for the Helena kids. The bats scored 7 in the final 2 innings as they were tardy in heating up. Better late then never. Michael Reed (1-4 3B BB), Alfredo Rodriguez (3-4 BB) and Chris McFarland (2-4 2B BB) were loud at the top of the order. Emmanuel Quiles (3-4 2B BB), new 3B Mike Nemeth (1-3 2 BB) and Raul Mondesi Jr. (1-2 2 BB SAC) showed patience and potency in the middle-bottom of the order. Despite 10 singles and 8 walks, the Brewers attempted 0 steals. Strange for this bunch. The cagey Suter picked off 2 Osprey. Game Log Viramontes shuts it down. Missoula Top of the 9th Pedro Ruiz singles on a ground ball to right fielder Raul Mondesi. Socrates Brito singles on a ground ball to left fielder Yonki Hernandez. Pedro Ruiz to 2nd. Offensive Substitution: Pinch hitter Kevin Dultz replaces Jake Lamb. Kevin Dultz grounds into a force out, third baseman Michael Nemeth to second baseman Christopher McFarland. Pedro Ruiz to 3rd. Brevard wins on walk-off walk 07/07/2012 9:52 PM ET By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees http://www.milb.com/images/2012/07/07/HlbQywSp.jpg Manatees starting pitcher Jed Bradley allowed one run in seven innings of work as Brevard County defeated the Clearwater Threshers, 2-1 on Saturday night at Space Coast Stadium. (Dennis Greenblatt/Hawk-Eye Sports Photography) VIERA, Fla. - A bases-loaded walk drawn by Joey Paciorek capped off an improbable rally in the bottom of the ninth as the Brevard County Manatees defeated the Clearwater Threshers, 2-1 on Saturday night at Space Coast Stadium. Down 1-0 heading into the bottom of the ninth, Nick Shaw led the inning off for Brevard (10-6 second half, 39-45 overall) with a base hit to center field off the new Clearwater (8-6, 45-38) pitcher Hector Neris. Jason Rogers then singled through the hole on the left side of the infield to put two on with no outs. Brock Kjeldgaard would then tie the game with a check-swing, line drive single to right on a 1-1 pitch. Now with first base open, the Threshers intentionally walked Mike Walker to set up a force at home. John Dishon came on as a pinch runner for Rogers at third base. Clearwater got what they needed and more with the intentional walk as Hector Gomez grounded into a 1-2-3 double play as the game remained tied, now with two outs and runners on second and third. Cody Hawn was then intentionally walked to set up the force out at any base. Joey Pacoriek, who had already struck out two times, stepped up to the plate. Pacoriek worked a 2-2 count and then took what looked to be strike three as Clearwater catcher Cameron Rupp popped up from behind the plate and started walking towards the dugout. Home plate umpire Ryan Clark did not agree with Rupp's assumption as it was a called a ball and it was now a full count. Neris' next pitch was inside to Pacoriek for ball four as Kjeldgaard came home for the winning run on a walk-off walk. The win was just the second time this season that the Manatees have won a game after trailing for six, seven or eight innings. Jed Bradley (5-7, 4.55) got the start on the mound for Brevard and his only hiccup was a solo homer that he allowed to Drew Hillman with one out in the second inning. The southpaw went seven strong innings and yielded three hits and three walks, while fanning three. The Manatees have now gotten five straight quality starts from their pitching staff and 11 of 17 overall to begin the second half of the season. Seth Harvey earned the win in relief as he struck out four in two innings of work, while allowing just one hit. Offensively for the 'Tees, Keen led the way as he went 2-for-4 and stole his 29th base of the season. Before their rally in the ninth inning, Brevard managed just four hits and struck out ten times against the Clearwater duo of starter Adam Morgan and reliever Mike Nesseth. Brevard County and Clearwater will play game two of their three-game series on Sunday evening at 5:05 p.m. The Manatees' starting pitcher has yet to be determined, while the Threshers will send Brody Colvin (4-4, 4.25) to the mound. Box Score Jed Bradley was very good in this one pretty much dominating besides a solo homer in the 2nd. 7 IP 3 H 1 R 1 ER 3 BB 3 K 1 HR 9:3 GO:FO. Seth Harvey was even more dominate with 4 K in 2 scoreless IP. The hitters saved their fireworks for the bottom of the 9th. The game story lays out that situation, including a ton of 9th inning coaching from Clearwater, pretty clearly. Reggie Keen (2-4 2B SB (29)) was the top hitter, in both lineup and production. Hector Gomez has been awful thus far, in the field and at the plate. Game Log 5 line outs for Bradley. The 9th. Brevard County Bottom of the 9th Pitcher Change: Hector Neris replaces Mike Nesseth. Nick Shaw singles on a line drive to center fielder Zach Collier. Jason Rogers singles on a ground ball to left fielder Peter Lavin. Nick Shaw to 2nd. Brock Kjeldgaard singles on a fly ball to right fielder Anthony Hewitt. Nick Shaw scores. Jason Rogers to 3rd. Hector Neris intentionally walks Mike Walker. Brock Kjeldgaard to 2nd. Offensive Substitution: Pinch runner John Dishon replaces Jason Rogers. Hector Gomez grounds into double play, pitcher Hector Neris to catcher Cameron Rupp to first baseman Jim Murphy. John Dishon out at home. Brock Kjeldgaard to 3rd. Mike Walker to 2nd. Hector Neris intentionally walks Cody Hawn. Joey Paciorek walks. Brock Kjeldgaard scores. Mike Walker to 3rd. Cody Hawn to 2nd.

Billings (Reds) 12 Helena 7 Box Score Many Canadian pitchers were rocked in this one. The hitters did their best to keep pace, but it was not enough. Also, big lineup shuffle in this one. New lead off hitter Michael Reed (4-5 2 2B BB) had his biggest night yet. I think we are all wondering what kind of hitter Reed is going to turn into. Is he a Mark Loretta type? I think we were all kind of dreaming for more, which just proves how unreal our expectations can be. Tonight's big game will skyrocket his slash line for now, but before tonight, that SLG% was lagging below the OBP%. New 3-hitter Chris McFarland (1-5 BB) has cooled a bit recently, so hopefully he picks it up. Adam Giacalone (1-3 2B 2 BB) has shown some good signs recently after that horrid start. Michael Turay (1-5 HR) went yard. Michael Garza (1-5 BB SB (5)) saw his average drop but he did engage in base larceny. 3 errors for the good guys including Alfredo Rodriguez's (1-3 SAC SB (5)) 6th. Game Log David Otterman was battling until the 4th. Billings Bottom of the 4th Robert Maddox singles on a line drive to right fielder Raul Mondesi. Gabriel Rosa doubles (4) on a line drive to center fielder Michael Reed. Robert Maddox scores. Jeff Gelalich walks. Seth Mejias-Brean walks. Gabriel Rosa to 3rd. Jeff Gelalich to 2nd. Robert Ramirez triples (1) on a line drive to center fielder Michael Reed. Gabriel Rosa scores. Jeff Gelalich scores. Seth Mejias-Brean scores. Pitcher Change: Michael White replaces David Otterman. With Fray Sosa batting, throwing error by Michael Turay on the pickoff attempt, Robert Ramirez scores. Fray Sosa singles on a line drive to left fielder Ruben Ozuna. Beau Amaral flies out to left fielder Ruben Ozuna. Offensive Substitution: Pinch hitter Jon Matthews replaces Jesse Winker. Jon Matthews strikes out swinging. Daniel Pigott walks. Fray Sosa to 2nd. With Robert Maddox batting, wild pitch by Michael White, Fray Sosa to 3rd. Daniel Pigott to 2nd. Robert Maddox walks. Gabriel Rosa grounds out, pitcher Michael White to first baseman Adam Giacalone. The only 1-2-3 inning of the night was turned in by Leonard Lorenzo. Billings Bottom of the 6th Jon Matthews grounds out, shortstop Alfredo Rodriguez to first baseman Adam Giacalone. Daniel Pigott strikes out swinging. Robert Maddox grounds out to pitcher Leonard Lorenzo.

Seven-run seventh propels 'Tees 07/06/2012 10:55 PM ET By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees http://www.milb.com/images/2012/07/06/3sYbRwkf.jpg Manatees starting pitcher Taylor Jungmann allowed one earned run in seven innings of work as Brevard County defeated Tampa, 10-2 on Friday night. Jungmann is 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA since the All-Star break. (Dennis Greenblatt/Hawk-Eye Sports Photography) (Side note: no head whip evident here for Jungmann unless this is literally a few frames prior.) VIERA, Fla. - A seven-run seventh inning capped off by a grand slam by Cody Hawn lifted the Brevard County Manatees to a 10-2 win over the Tampa Yankees on Friday night at Space Coast Stadium. Taylor Jungmann (7-4, 3.35) started on the mound for the 'Tees and went seven innings and allowed two runs - one earned - on five hits. The 2011 first round pick walked two and struck out two. Jungmann is 4-0 with a 2.18 ERA in his last six starts and has a 1.04 ERA in his first three starts of the second half of the FSL season. (That promotion timer is starting to quiver.) The two runs that Jungmann allowed came in the top of the first. He allowed back-to-back singles to Mason Williams and Ramon Flores to start the game. Then Adnois Garcia reached base on a throwing error by third baseman Mike Walker; that allowed Williams to score and moved Flores and Garcia to third and second respectively. After a walk to Slade Heathcott, Jungmann induced a double play ball off the bat of Kyle Roller which allowed Flores to score and make it 2-0 in favor of Tampa. Zach Wilson popped out to end the inning as the 'Tees escaped any further damage. Jungmann allowed just three hits in his next six innings of work after a shaky first inning. Brevard (9-6 second half, 38-45 overall) cut Tampa's lead in half right away in the bottom of the first. Reggie Keen led off with a double, moved to third on a Nick Shaw ground out and then scored on a Jason Rogers ground out. The game remained 2-1 in favor of the Yankees (8-7, 38-44) until the bottom of the sixth. Shaw led the inning off with a walk and then moved to third on a single by Rogers that put runners at the corners. Walker then ripped a double that hopped over the short fence in left to score Shaw and tied the game at 2-2. The Manatees took the lead as Rogers scored on a wild pitch to make it a 3-2 game. Tampa retired the last three hitters of the inning in order to prevent any more damage. The game blew wide open in the seventh and it started with a lead-off walk by Parker Berberet. Back-to-back singles by Franklin Romero Jr. and Reggie Keen loaded the bases and chased Tampa's Aaron Dott from the game as Kramer Sneed took the hill. He was greeted rudely by Shaw as he singled to right to plate Berberet and Romero Jr. as the 'Tees extended their lead to 5-2. Rogers then stepped in and on the 3-1 pitch of his at-bat, Keen stole home to make it 6-2, as Rogers took ball four to put runners on first and second. Walker then grounded out to move Shaw and Rogers up 90 feet each. After an intentional walk to Brock Kjeldgaard, Hector Gomez flew out to left for the second out of the inning. Cody Hawn then stepped to the dish and had already struck out three times on the night. He would redeem himself in a big way and put the game out of reach as he drove a ball to right field that snuck over the fence for Brevard's first grand slam of the season. (bet that felt real good.) Keen and Shaw set the pace offensively for the Manatees at the top of the batting order. Keen was 2-for-5 with two runs scored, while Shaw was 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. With their series win over the Yankees behind them, Brevard will open a three-game set with the Clearwater Threshers beginning on Saturday night at 6:35 p.m. The Manatees currently have a half-game lead over the Threshers (9-7, 45-37) in the second half North division standings. Southpaw Jed Bradley (5-7, 4.84) will take the hill for the 'Tees in the series opener. The 2011 first round draft pick has struggled against Clearwater this season as he is 0-2 with a 7.80 ERA in three starts against the Threshers. Clearwater will send their own lefty to the mound as Adam Morgan (3-8, 3.55) will get the start for the Threshers. Morgan is 1-0 with a 0.93 ERA in three starts versus the 'Tees in 2012. Box Score There is a lot to digest in that game story. Most important is that the Manatees are in 1st place! Taylor Jungmann is starting to buck a little bit. Unfortunately, I'm not sure the right pieces are available to back fill unless you think Matt Miller is ready for a bump. 7 IP 5 H 2 R 1 ER 2 BB 2 K 15:2 GO:FO as Jungmann powered through 29 hitters. The secret to his recent success has been the ground outs. Greg Holle and Eric Arnett put the game on lock, as they say, with a scoreless inning each. Arnett had 2 K. The top of the order clogged the bases and Cody Hawn hit a huge grand slam to cap a 7 run inning. Reggie Keen (2-5 2B SB (28)) and Nick Shaw (3-4 BB) reached 6 times. Keen is essentially mirroring his 2011 slash line from WI. Small percentage drops across the board, but nothing major. Jason Rogers (1-3 2 BB) reached another 3 times in this one. Brock Kjeeldgaard is hitting .119 since returning from his ailment. Mike Walker made his 15th error and Nick Shaw his 14th. Game Log 7-run innings are always worth a post. Brevard County Bottom of the 7th Parker Berberet walks. Franklin Romero Jr. singles on a ground ball to right fielder Adonis Garcia. Parker Berberet to 2nd. Reggie Keen singles on a ground ball to center fielder Mason Williams. Parker Berberet to 3rd. Franklin Romero Jr. to 2nd. Pitcher Change: Kramer Sneed replaces Aaron Dott. Nick Shaw singles on a ground ball to right fielder Adonis Garcia. Parker Berberet scores. Franklin Romero Jr. Reggie Keen to 3rd. Jason Rogers walks. Nick Shaw to 2nd. Reggie Keen steals (28) home. Mike Walker grounds out, pitcher Kramer Sneed to first baseman Kyle Roller. Nick Shaw to 3rd. Jason Rogers to 2nd. Kramer Sneed intentionally walks Brock Kjeldgaard. Hector Gomez flies out to left fielder Ramon Flores. Cody Hawn hits a grand slam (8) to right field. Nick Shaw scores. Jason Rogers scores. Brock Kjeldgaard scores. Parker Berberet strikes out swinging.

Billings (Reds) 7 Helena 2 Box Score Eric Semmelhack fell to 0-3 on the year with his most uneven performance of the early season. Robert Maddux, who hit 3 homers yesterday, slammed another against Semmelhack. Final line: 5 IP 6 H 3 R 3 ER 2 BB 1 IBB 5 K 4:5 GO:FO. Manny Ruiz recorded 0 outs while being charged with 3 runs. Ryan Gibbard was the best Brewers pitcher (2 IP 0 H 0 R 1 BB 3 K). With the bat, Michael Garza (2-4 2B) continues to shine. Garza is 20-43 over his last 10 games with a 3:5 BB:K. Chris McFarland, Raul Mondesi Jr. and Yonki Hernandez all went 1-3 with a BB. McFarland's hit was a double. Game Log Quick hook for Ruiz or something worse? Brevard one-hit by Yanks 07/05/2012 9:57 PM ET By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees http://www.milb.com/images/2012/07/05/KK3Xs47V.jpg Manatees starting pitcher Drew Gagnon threw six scoreless innings and struck out seven hitters. He did not factor in the decision as Brevard County lost to the Tampa Yankees 1-0 on Thursday night. (Dennis Greenblatt/Hawk-Eye Sports Photography) VIERA, Fla. - The Brevard County Manatees could only muster one hit and four base runners on Thursday night as they were blanked by the Tampa Yankees, 1-0 at Space Coast Stadium. Brevard County starting pitcher Drew Gagnon (0-0, 2.25) recorded his second quality start in as many outings as a Manatee. He threw six shutout innings and allowed just three hits, while fanning seven Tampa hitters. Equally impressive was Tampa starter Nik Turley who hurled six innings of one-hit ball, while striking out six. It was the fourth time this season that the 'Tees faced Turley as he improved to 1-0 with a 1.96 ERA against Brevard. The Manatees (8-6 second half, 37-45 overall) have struck out 23 times in 21 innings against the Tampa (8-6, 38-43) southpaw. Thomas Keeling relieved Gagnon in the seventh and retired the first two hitters, but then allowed the only run of the game on a two-out solo homer to Gary Sanchez. Keeling then walked back-to-back hitters and then a wild pitch put runners on second and third. He was able to get out of the inning by striking out Mason Williams. Brevard had a chance to tie the game in the ninth as Reggie Keen reached on a walk with one out. Keen then stole second and reached third on a throwing error by Sanchez. But Keen would be stranded on third as Nick Shaw and Jason Rogers went down on back-to-back strikeouts to end the game. The Manatees and Yankees will close out their three-game set on Friday night at 6:35 p.m. Taylor Jungmann (6-4, 3.51) will toe the rubber for the 'Tees. The 2011 first round draft pick has a 1.98 ERA in two starts this season against Tampa. The Yanks will send Jose A. Ramirez (2-4, 3.83) to the mound. Box Score Dead wood for the Manatees. Drew Gagnon was fantastic though. I really cannot be much more pleased with the season he is putting together. Tonight: 6 IP 3 H 0 R 2 BB 7 K 1 HBP 3:3 GO:FO. In a pitching staff full of pedigee, Gagnon has the numbers that jump out at you most. Thomas Keeling gave up that homer to top prospect Gary Sanchez. Reggie Keen was the lone bright spot in the batter's box with a walk and hit to go along with 2 steals. Game Log Kudos to the closer. That 2-hole is not the same with Mittelstaedt occupying it as he had been for a couple of weeks. Brevard County Bottom of the 9th Pitcher Change: Mark Montgomery replaces Manuel Barreda. John Dishon grounds out, shortstop Jose Mojica to first baseman Kyle Roller. Reggie Keen walks. With Nick Shaw batting, Reggie Keen steals (27) 2nd base, . Reggie Keen advances to 3rd, on throwing error by catcher Gary Sanchez. Nick Shaw strikes out swinging. Jason Rogers strikes out swinging. Lots of pretty Gagnon innings.

Brewers top Mustangs 8-7 Independent Record | Posted: Thursday, July 5, 2012 12:00 am The Helena Brewers rallied for an 8-7 victory Wednesday night in Billings to snap a four-game losing streak, despite three home runs from Mustangs designated hitter Robert Maddox. Helena (5-12) entered the top of the eighth inning down two runs. Second baseman Adrian Williams and left fielder Ruben Ozuna drew walks to begin the inning, and shortstop Alfredo Rodriguez hit a sacrifice bunt to move both runners over. But Billings pitcher Bennett Klimesh committed a throwing error, and both Williams and Ozuna scored to tie the game at 7-all. Rodriguez, meanwhile, advanced to third base. Mustangs manager Pat Kelly was then ejected for arguing a call, and Helena designated hitter Chris McFarland followed that with a sacrifice fly to plate Rodriguez for the winning run. Center fielder Michael Reed paced Helena at the plate, going 1 for 3 with a home run, a walk and three RBIs. Maddox finished 3 for 4 with three home runs and five RBIs for the Mustangs, who moved to 10-7. Taylor Wall (1-0) came on in relief and picked up the win, while Bennett Kimesh (0-1) took the loss. Box Score This is one Helena is lucky to win. Robert Maddux hit 3 homers for the bad guys, but the Brewers kept gnawing away at leads and eventually found themselves on the right end of a few plays. Michael Reed (1-3 HR 2 BB) had a powerful and patient night belting his 1st homer of the year. Mike Garza (2-5 SB (4)) had two more knocks. Chris McFarland (0-1 2 BB SAC SF) filled up the outer edges of the box score. At the bottom, Adrian Williams and Ruben Ozuna combined to go 1-5 with 4 BB. Michael Shaub got the start and was not very effective in contrast to Taylor Wall who was very good at limiting earned runs. 3 IP 2 H 3 R 0 ER 2 BB 2 K 1 HR 2 WP 1 HBP for Taylor. Gomez's homer lifts 'Tees past Tampa 07/04/2012 11:59 PM ET By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees http://www.milb.com/images/2012/07/05/3yea6JdX.png Manatees starting pitcher Andy Moye allowed three runs in six innings as Brevard County rallied to defeat the Tampa Yankees 5-4 on Wednesday night. (Dennis Greenblatt/Hawk-Eye Sports Photography) VIERA, Fla. - With two outs in the bottom of the eighth, Hector Gomez's solo shot broke a 4-4 tie as the Brevard County Manatees defeated the Tampa Yankees 5-4 in front of a jam-packed Space Coast Stadium on the 4th of July. Andy Moye started for the 'Tees (8-5 second half, 37-44 overall) and gave up three runs in six innings of work in his third consecutive quality start. He walked three and tied a season-high with five strikeouts. Moye was in line for the loss as Tampa's Kyle Roller hit a two-run homer off of him in the sixth to break a 1-1 tie and give the Yanks (7-6, 37-43) a 3-1 lead. Brevard started a rally in the bottom of the sixth that started with a Nick Shaw single and a Jason Rogers walk, which chased Tampa start Matt Tracy from the game. Sean Black came in and walked Brock Kjeldgaard to load the bases. Cody Hawn then singled to center to plate Shaw and cut Tampa's lead to 3-2. RBI groundouts by Gomez and Joey Paciorek gave the Manatees a 4-3 lead to close out six innings of play. Brian Garman relieved Moye in the seventh and threw a scoreless seventh with two strikeouts, but led the eighth inning off with a walk to Slade Heathcott. After back-to-back strikeouts, Garman exited the game in favor of Brevard's closer Casey Medlen. Heathcott would steal second with Zach Wilson at the dish and then take third on a missed catch error by Gomez on the throw down by Paciorek. Wilson then drove in Heathcott with a single to left to tie the game. Gomez would redeem himself in the bottom of the frame with two outs, as he took the 1-0 offering from Black and crushed it over the left center to give Brevard County a 5-4 lead. Medlen returned to the mound for the ninth and retired the side and sent the Brevard County crowd into a frenzy as the 'Tees opened their six-game homestand with a win. Brevard County and Tampa will continue their three-game series on Thursday night at 6:35 p.m. Drew Gagnon will get his second start for the 'Tees. In his first start, Gagnon (0-0, 4.50) got the win against Tampa last Saturday as he struck out five in six innings. Tampa will counter with southpaw Nik Turley (3-3, 3.61). Box Score Really a fantastic win and a fantastic game story tonight. I will defer most of the game specifics to that, as usual for Brevard County. Jason Rogers (0-2 2 BB) keeps making it happen. Cody Hawn (2-4) had a good day and Hector Gomez (1-4 HR) hit the game winner but also committed his 4th error already. Andy Moye threw a quality start and was bailed out of a loss in Greinke-ian fashion. Still 7-0 on the year for Moye. Brian Garman and Casey Medlen were terrific over the final 3 allowing 0 ER and striking out 6. Game Log

Great Falls (White Sox) 10 Helena 5 Box Score Will West got the opening gig and he was not bad. 6 IP 6 H 3 R 3 ER 3 BB 5 K 9:0 GO:FO. This was by far his most successful start n the year for Helena. Martin Viramontes and Connor Whalen got lit up in the top of the 9th. A Chris McFarland error and some misplayed fly balls (due to sun AND wind) were major parts of the problem. In the bottom of the 9th, during a Ruben Ozuna AB, an Osprey was spotted above the field in Helena. Soon after, Ruben Ozuna took a BB when suddenly two very attention starved rabbits appeared in foul territory. After a few more pitches, and the beginning of a hunting effort in the Great Falls dugout, the rabbits made their way onto the infield. The rabbit delay lasted 268 seconds (I made that up, but it's approximate) and soon after the ballgame was over. (crunch, crunch, crunch, that's all folks!) The Brewers sprayed out 13 hits but scored only 5 runs. Michael Garza (4-4 3B 2 SB (3)) is on fire and missed a HR by about a foot on a drive off the wall. This kid swings at a lot of 1st pitch FB's. Michael Reed (2-5 SB) was good but it could have been better as he was robbed of hit by a nice play. C Michael Turay (3-4 2B) is off to a very nice start in part-time catcher duty. The glut of catchers is starting to gum up the works a bit in the lower levels. Turay and Emmanuel Quiles have been great on offense and defense and each should probably be playing more. Wall-battered Ruben Ozuna (1-3 2B BB SB) was productive in the 9-hole. Game Log Dude. Helena Bottom of the 4th Michael Reed singles on a line drive to left fielder Yoandy Barroso. Brevard downed late by Clearwater 07/03/2012 9:53 PM ET By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Brevard County Manatees finished their six-game road trip 2-4 as they lost to the Clearwater Threshers, 5-1 on Tuesday night. For the second night in a row, the Threshers used a big inning to beat the 'Tees as they scored four in the seventh to break a 1-1 tie. Manatees starting pitcher Brooks Hall (3-3, 4.04) gave Brevard a quality start as he threw six innings and allowed one run on three hits. Hall did walk a batter for the first time in a start this season and fanned three. The only run that Hall gave up came in the fourth as Peter Lavin led off the inning with a solo shot to right. Brevard County (7-5 second half, 36-44 overall) tied the game up right away in the top of the fifth. Franklin Romero Jr. led the inning off with a single to center and then stole second base. Two batters later, Nick Shaw drove in Romero Jr. with a single to center to make it a 1-1 game. Shaw then stole second and then Jason Rogers drew a walk as the 'Tees had runners at first and second with one out. Brevard County would get nothing else in the inning as Mike Walker grounded out and Brock Kjeldgaard struck out to end the threat. The game remained tied 1-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh, as Greg Holle came on for Hall. Holle led the inning off by hitting Drew Hillman and then Jim Murphy reached on a throwing error by shortstop Hector Gomez, which also allowed him to advance to second and Hillman to third. Zach Collier then broke the tie with a single to center that plated Hillman and Murphy. Anthony Hewitt then drove in Collier with a double to left to make it 4-1 in favor of the Threshers (7-6, 43-36). Hewitt scored two batters later on a Harold Martinez groundout. Jason Rogers was the only Manatee with a multi-hit evening as he went 2-for-3 with two doubles. Parker Berberet reached base twice as he was 1-for-3 with a walk. Brevard County will return to Space Coast Stadium on Wednesday to open a six-game homestand. The 'Tees will welcome the Tampa Yankees to Viera to open a three-game set on the 4th of July at 6:35 p.m. The Manatees will send Andy Moye (4-0, 4.32) to the mound against the Yanks. Moye is looking for his third consecutive win and to improve to 5-0 this season. Moye's last start was against Tampa this past Friday and he allowed two runs in six innings of work. Box Score Life is tough on the road. Luckily the 'Tees come home for six starting tomorrow. Jason Rogers (2-3 2 2B BB) is just mashing FSL pitching right now. Space Coast Stadium, home of the BC Manatees, is particularly tough on left-handers so the right-handed Rogers may be able to use that to his advantage, or something. New guy SS Hector Gomez went 0-4 and his struggling to find his footing for the Sea Cows (.071 batting average). 6'5" 200 pound Brooks Hall probably made his best start of the season. 6 IP 3 H 1 R 1 ER 0 BB 3 K 1 HR 5:6 GO:FO. He has the ERA down to 4.06 but still sports a gross 32:26 K:BB in 55.2 IP. Greg Holle, with a little help from Hector Gomez, gave up the big inning and lost it for the Manatees. Game Log I wonder if it was one of the those-get-me-over 1st pitch FB strikes that got crushed? Clearwater Bottom of the 4th Peter Lavin homers (4) on a line drive to right field. Drew Hillman pops out to first baseman Jason Rogers. Jim Murphy grounds out, third baseman Mike Walker to first baseman Jason Rogers. Zach Collier grounds out to first baseman Jason Rogers. BC had lots of chances over the first half of the game.

Great Falls (White Sox) 13 Helena 0 Box Score This game felt close-ish until the mid innings when things got out of hand, and I fell asleep. Brent Suter got the start and ended the night as the most effective Brewers pitcher. 4 IP 4 H 2 R 2 ER 0 BB 4 K 1 HR 4:2 GO:FO for Brent. Among the roughed up Brewers pitchers included Joel Pierce (1 IP 2 H 1 ER 2 BB 1 K WP) and Manny Ruiz (2 IP 3 H 3 ER 4 BB 4 K 2 WP). I am pretty sure Michael Garza (1-4) swings at the 1st pitch in every AB I have listened to from him this season. With a league full of pitchers working off of their FB, that might be okay, but the approach will need refining as he moves up. C Paul Eshleman (3-4) and 1B Adam Giacalone (2-4 SB) were seeing it decent. Michael Reed (0-4 3 K) was not. The Rookie Leagues. Fun stuff. Game Log

'Tees four-hit by Threshers 07/02/2012 10:13 PM ET By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees CLEARWATER, Fla. - One day after scoring ten runs on ten hits, the Brevard County Manatees were held to four hits as they were blanked 4-0 by the Clearwater Threshers on Monday night at Bright House Field. The 'Tees had just five base runners and struck out 12 times against Clearwater pitching, including seven times against Threshers starter Adam Morgan over six innings. Brevard County went down in order in five separate innings on the night. A big inning in the second for Clearwater was the difference as they plated the only four runs in the game that frame against 'Tees (7-4 second half, 36-43 overall) starter Jed Bradley. After allowing a lead-off double to Jim Murphy, Bradley induced back-to-back ground outs and was one out away from getting out of the inning. Clearwater (6-6, 42-36) though was able to capitalize with two outs starting with a double by Cameron Rupp that scored Murphy. Miguel Alvarez then singled to center to plate Rupp and make it a 2-0 Clearwater advantage. Edgar Duran then singled to put runners on the corners and that was followed by a two-run triple by Albert Cartwright to center which gave the Threshers a 4-0 lead that they wouldn't relinquish. Bradley (5-7, 4.84) went five innings and yielded eight hits. He did not walk a batter and struck out two and is now 1-4 with a 9.11 ERA in six road starts. Shea Vucinich and reigning FSL Player of the Week Jason Rogers were the only 'Tees to reach base twice on the night. Vucinich was 2-for-3 with a double and Rogers was 1-for-3 with a walk. The Manatees will close out their six-game road trip and their series with the Threshers on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. Brooks Hall (3-3, 4.35) will get the ball for Brevard County as he is going for his third straight win. Hall had a solid June as he was 3-1 with a 3.65 ERA in five starts. Clearwater will counter with Brody Colvin (4-4, 4.46). Colvin is coming off of a nine strikeout performance in his last start and is 1-0 with a 1.38 ERA in his first two starts since the All-Star break. Box Score Short and sweet tonight for my summaries, and that's okay, because my teams lost 17-0. 4-0 undesirables in this FSL match up. Jason Rogers (1-3 2 BB) and Shea Vucinich (2-3 2B SB (10)) were the notables. Jed Bradley had a rough 2nd inning, but was otherwise pretty darn effective. 5 IP 8 H 4 R 4 ER 0 BB 2 K 9:1 GO:FO. Thomas Keeling and Seth Harvey finished it out with 3 scoreless and 3 K. Check out the young Phillie super reliever. Game Log
