Manatees thump Threshers, 10-3 07/01/2012 4:25 PM ET By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Brevard County Manatees reached the double-digit mark in runs for the fifth time this season as they pounded the Clearwater Threshers, 10-3 on Sunday afternoon at Bright House Field. The 'Tees (7-3 second half, 36-42 second half) tallied ten hits - eight of them for extra bases - and benefitted from three Threshers' errors as Brevard defeated Clearwater (5-6, 41-36) for just the second time this season in seven games. Brevard jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a two-run homer by Jason Rogers. Clearwater would score their only run off of 'Tees starting pitcher Taylor Jungmann in the bottom of the second on a RBI ground out. Jungmann (6-4, 3.51) threw six innings and allowed one run on three hits for his tenth quality start in 16 starts so far this season. He did not walk a batter and struck out three. The 12th overall pick of the 2011 MLB draft is 3-0 with a 2.40 ERA in his last five starts. The Manatees busted the game open with a five-run fifth inning. The frame started with Shea Vucinich reaching on an error and then Parker Berberet doubled to right to put runners on second and third. After a Nick Shaw strikeout, Reggie Keen reached base on a fielder's choice and advanced to second on a throwing error by first baseman Drew Hillman. Vucinich scored and Berberet advanced to third, to put runners on second and third with one out. T.J. Mittelstaedt then hit his 17th double of the season to center to score Berberet and give the 'Tees a 4-1 lead. Rogers then stepped up and hit his second homer of the game, a three-run shot, that gave Brevard a 7-1 lead. Rogers is the first Manatee to hit two homers in a game since Brock Kjeldgaard did it on June 5, 2011 against Daytona. Ironically enough, Kjeldgaard capped off the 'Tees scoring on Sunday afternoon against Clearwater with a solo homer in the ninth. Rogers is making a case for earning Florida State League Player of the Week honors in his first full week with the Manatees. Since Tuesday, he is hitting .428 (9-for-21) with three homers, ten RBI, nine runs scored and two stolen bases. Brevard County and Clearwater will continue their three-game series on Monday night at 7:00 p.m. Southpaw Jed Bradley (5-6, 4.68) will take the hill for the 'Tees as he looks to build on the seven inning complete game he threw this past Wednesday against Charlotte. In two starts against the Threshers this season, Bradley is 0-1 with a 8.10 ERA. Lefty Adam Morgan (2-8, 3.82) will toe the rubber for the Threshers. Morgan has lost his last four starts but has a 1.35 ERA in two starts against Brevard in 2012. Box Score The glory is to be shared by hitters and starting pitcher Taylor Jungmann. Jungmann in particular needs to be commended for his solid play of late. He is the undisputed ace of this staff now, and with the revitalized offense, the pitchers need to hold up their end of the deal. Really, the only 'Tee who had a rough game was Eric Arnett. Shake it off, Eric. Now, about that hitting barrage. Jason Rogers (2-5 2 HR BB) is making waves in the FSL and will likely take home some hardware for his efforts. T.J. Mittelstaedt (1-4 2B BB) made some things happen at the top and Cody Hawn (2-5 2B) and Shea Vucinich (2-5 2B) were powerful in the bottom half Game Log Mr. Rogers makes you pay! Brevard County Top of the 5th Shea Vucinich reaches on throwing error by third baseman Harold Martinez. Parker Berberet doubles (5) on a line drive to right fielder Peter Lavin. Shea Vucinich to 3rd. Nick Shaw strikes out swinging. Reggie Keen reaches on a fielder's choice, fielded by first baseman Drew Hillman. Shea Vucinich scores. Parker Berberet to 3rd. Reggie Keen to 2nd. Throwing error by first baseman Drew Hillman. T. J. Mittelstaedt doubles (17) on a fly ball to center fielder Zach Collier. Parker Berberet scores. Reggie Keen to 3rd. Jason Rogers homers (3) on a fly ball to left field. Reggie Keen scores. T. Mittelstaedt scores. Brock Kjeldgaard grounds out, pitcher Austin Wright to first baseman Drew Hillman. Hector Gomez flies out to center fielder Zach Collier. -

Yonki Hernandez is making it difficult to find everyone playing time in Helena. With Reed, Mondesi Jr., Ozuna and Hernandez all deserving of playing time, it will be interesting to see if something happens promotions wise. Maybe Mittelstaedt follows Kjeeldgaard to AA, McMahan to A+ and Reed to A? That could work. -
Great Falls (Chi Sox) 2 Helena 1 Box Score I did not tune in tonight because I was at Summerfest listening to a "Sweet Child of Mine" cover by the Roots. It is really too bad because I would love to learn more about Eric Semmelhack. He was on point again in this one. 7 IP 3 H 2 R 2 ER 0 BB 4 K 1 WP 12:5 GO:FO. Time will tell if he is just hot or if he is actually advanced enough for full season ball. It is my understanding that he touched 95 for the Brewers at their pre-draft showcase and that he works mostly in the low-90's with a pretty good slider and developing change. Could this be a hidden gem? Ryan Gibbard finished with a scoreless inning. Only 1 run on 11 hits and 3 walks for the H-Crew. Not good. Mainly because all of the hits were singles. Chris McFarland (3-5 CS), Michael Reed (2-4 BB) and Michael Garza (2-5) represented for the heart of the order. Adam Giacalone (2-4) made some noise towards the bottom. In the bottom of the 8th Raul Mondesi Jr. threw out a runner at 1st on a GB to RF. That's 6. Then, in cruel twist of fate, Mondesi Jr. was thrown out at the plate in the top of the 9th wiping away a chance at tying the game. Game Log Mondesi the hero, and Mondesi the gunned. Great Falls Bottom of the 8th Pitcher Change: Ryan Gibbard replaces Eric Semmelhack. Yoandy Barroso singles on a ground ball to right fielder Raul Mondesi. Yoandy Barroso out at 1st, right fielder Raul Mondesi to first baseman Adam Giacalone. Tyler Williams flies out to center fielder Michael Reed. Patrick Palmeiro strikes out swinging. Helena Top of the 9th Yonki Hernandez called out on strikes. Raul Mondesi singles on a ground ball to shortstop Justin Jirschele. Christopher McFarland singles on a line drive to left fielder Yoandy Barroso. Raul Mondesi to 2nd. Michael Reed singles on a line drive to right fielder Kyle Robinson. Raul Mondesi out at home on the throw, right fielder Kyle Robinson to catcher Brent Tanner. Christopher McFarland to 3rd on the throw. Michael Reed to 2nd. Mike Garza flies out to center fielder Adam Heisler.

'Tees topped late by Tampa 06/30/2012 10:57 PM ET By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees TAMPA, Fla. - After tying the game at 3-3 in the seventh, the Brevard County Manatees fell 5-3 to the Tampa Yankees on Saturday night at George M. Steinbrenner Field. With runners on second and third in the bottom of the eighth, the 'Tees (6-3 second half, 35-42 overall) were one out away from taking a tied game into the ninth. Tampa's JR Murphy though had other plans as his ground-rule double with two outs off of Brian Garman gave the Yanks (5-4, 35-41) a 5-3 lead and the eventual win of both the game and the three-game series. The Manatees received a quality start from Drew Gagnon, who was making his first appearance with Brevard since being promoted from Class-A Wisconsin. Gagnon went six innings and allowed three runs on seven hits. He walked just one and fanned five Yankees. Down 3-1 after six innings, the 'Tees rallied in the top of the seventh. Cody Hawn led the inning off with his 20th double of the season. Hawn came home one batter later as he was plated on a Parker Berberet RBI single. Nick Shaw played 2B tonight. Nick Shaw then reached first on a fielder's choice as Berberet was retired at second. Reggie Keen then stepped in and hit his 12th double of the season to put runners on second and third with one out. T.J. Mittelstaedt then walked to load the bases as the Yankees then called on a new reliever, Tom Kahnle. Kahnle was able to strike out the red-hot Jason Rogers for the second out. The 'Tees would then tie the game without even putting the bat on the ball as Kahnle threw a wild pitch with Mike Walker at the plate that allowed Shaw to score and tie the game. Walker though grounded out to end the threat and the inning. Keen was the only Manatee to record more than one hit as he was 2-for-4 with a double. Hector Gomez had the only other Brevard County extra base hit - a triple in the sixth in which he got thrown out trying to take home - in his debut with the Milwaukee organization. The Manatees will continue their road trip on the west side of the state as they visit the Clearwater Threshers to begin a three-game series on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Taylor Jungmann (5-4, 3.64) will toe the rubber for Brevard. The 2011 first round pick will look to continue to build on a solid month of June, in which he went 2-0 with a 2.63 ERA in four starts. Clearwater will send southpaw Austin Wright (7-2, 3.62) to the hill. In his only other outing against the 'Tees this season, Wright tallied ten strikeouts in five innings of work against Brevard back on April 22. Box Score I am very excited to follow Drew Gagnon in A+. His start tonight was not elite, but he put the 'Tees in position to win. Combined with decent peripherals, I am certainly encouraged. 6 IP 7 H 3 R 3 ER 1 BB 5 K 1 WP 1 HBP 9:2 GO:FO for Gagnon tonight. The hitters banged out 6 hits, 3 for extras, and took 7 walks but it was not enough. New SS of intrigue Hector Gomez hit a 3B. Cody Hawn stacked his 20th 2B of the season onto his personal 2B pile. Leadoff man Reggie Keen (2-4 2B CS (14)) was the only multi-hit hitter. T.J. Mittelstaedt (0-3 2 BB CS (9)) and Jason Rogers (0-2 2 BB) were not allowed to impose their will. Rogers saw his average drop to .407. Parker Berberet went 1-3 with a BB. Gomez did commit 2 fielding errors. Game Log

Taylor Wall pitched 3 very fine innings after Shaub. 3 IP 3 H 0 R 1 BB 3 K 3:0 GO:FO for Wall. I thought Steve said he weighed 290, but a quick check revealed I was 100 lbs off. Martin Viramontes got shelled a bit in the 10th. Connor Whalen came in the game to bail out Martin and promptly gave up a 2-run 2B that brought the the score to 6-5 Brewers. A weak tapper to second base ended the game for Whalen and the Brewers as they won it. Micahel Garza (4-5 3B) has been feasting on 1st pitch FB's since turning pro. Adam Giacolone's (1-3 2B BB) run scoring 2B was not hit all that hard, but it got him off the schneid a bit. Alfredo Rodriguez (1-4 2B BB) had a huge 10th inning hit. Brevard's bats bounce Yanks 06/29/2012 10:40 PM ET By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees TAMPA, Fla. - The Brevard County Manatees pounded out 14 hits and helped starting pitcher Andy Moye improve to 4-0 as the 'Tees topped the Tampa Yankees, 9-5 on Friday night at George M. Steinbrenner Field. Moye (4-0, 4.32) went six innings and allowed two runs - both earned - on four hits. He walked two and struck out two as his pitching line was exactly the same as the line of his last start, which was a win against Dunedin last Saturday. The 'Tees (6-2 second half, 35-41 overall) gave Moye run support early as Brevard plated two runs in the top of the first, thanks to a two-run home run by Jason Rogers. The homer was Rogers' first as a Manatee and was also his first extra-base hit with Brevard County. Up 3-1 after four innings, Brevard put the game out of reach in the fifth with a couple of clutch two-out hits. Cody Hawn drove in T.J. Mittelstaedt and Mike Walker with a single to left field. Then two batters later, Shea Vucinich drove in Hawn and Brock Kjeldgaard with a two-RBI double that gave the Manatees a 7-1 lead. Tampa (4-4, 34-41) cut Brevard's lead to 7-4 heading into the ninth, but the Manatees' offense wasn't done as Walker and Hawn each had two-out RBI singles to give the 'Tees a 9-4 advantage. Seven of Brevard County's nine RBI on Friday came with two outs and the 'Tees were 6-for-14 with runners in scoring position. Mittelstaedt and Rogers led the way at the plate with three hits each. Mittelstaedt also scored three times and stole two bases. Hawn and Vucinich each had two hits, with Hawn having a game-high three RBI. The rubber game of Brevard County's three-game series with Tampa will be on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. Drew Gagnon will get his first start for the Manatees, since being promoted from Class-A Wisconsin. Gagnon was a Midwest League mid-season All-Star with the Timber Rattlers as he went 6-1 with a 2.83 ERA in 14 starts.

Helena Quick Hits: Shaub is throwing almost all fastballs, but they are effective because the pitch has crazy movement. Mondesi Jr. has some very good wheels. In fact, he just might be a top 5-ish 5 tool prospect in the Milwaukee system. Reed is clearly favoring his right leg after that catch 'n crash. (He did run a dropped 3rd strike very hard. Almost beat it.) More defensive prowess praise for Alfredo Rodriguez.

Brevard County 9 Tampa (Yankees) 5 Box Score The Manatees got the organization off to a good start. They seem revitalized. Andy Moye was great after a 1st inning homer that he yielded to Slade Heathcott. He finished 6 IP 4 H 2 R 2 ER 2 BB 2 K 1 HR 1 HBP 9:5 GO:FO. Wild Thomas Keeling was next and he had a tough night. Walks were not the problem for Thomas at least. His progression in that department makes me very optimistic we will see the big power lefty working 7th and 8th innings in Milwaukee someday. Greg Holle worked a scoreless 8th and Casey Medlen, with a big lead, stumbled through the 9th before closing out the win. Stop me if you have heard this before. The star hitters were T.J. Mittelstaedt (3-5 2B 2 SB (14)) and Jason Rogers (3-4 HR BB). Mike Walker and Brock Kjeeldgaard each had a hit and BB. Cody Hawn and Shea Vucinich each had 2 hits. Game Log

Michael Reed just crashed into and over a concrete wall and metal railing after making a sensational catch in foul territory. The trainers had to come out after he was unable to climb back over. After about 20 seconds, he climbed over and play resumed. He was seen stretching his right leg soon after. He gingerly jogged into the dugout after the inning. I would not be surprised if he makes an early exit.

Sometimes I think people really do not understand the immense amount of failed prospects every system experiences. That said, I am rather frustrated about last years draft at this point. All around our 1st round picks are guys who are absolutely dominating. The latest is the tremendous buzz Taylor Guerrieri has generated after his first few starts. His numbers are fantastic but the scouting reports on his stuff are more impressive. He went nine picks after Bradley. Jose Fernandez, Matt Barnes, Guerrieri, Alex Meyer...we could have had any of them.

Missoula (D'Backs) 7 Helena 6 F/11 Box Score The walkoff tonight was just crazy. After a bloop infield pop fly just over 6'6" Mike White's head and just short enough that Alfredo Rodriguez's scoop and throw was late put a man on, the next guy got grazed in the knee by a breaking ball putting runners on 1st and 2nd. Next, a bunt attempt succeeds despite White's pitch knocking him down in the box where he remained while the ball went to 1st for the first out. Then, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, the intentional walk sign comes in. White air-mails the first pitch of his attempted intentional walk, bringing home the winning run and ending the game right there. Your 2012 Helena Brewers. Will West gave up 5 runs in 4 IP. Mike White, well, I already told you about his unfortunate inning, which came after three scoreless. Manuel Ruiz threw 2 scoreless innings, but did allow two inherited West runners to score. The hitters were hitting but not power hitting. Only Michael Reed's (2-4 2B BB SB) double and Emmanuel Quiles' (2-5 HR) homer took a runner past 1st base off the bat. Mike Nemeth (1-3 2 BB) got played as he was robbed of extra bases by a baby D'Back. One of Raul Mondesi Jr's (2-4 CS PO) outs came on a smoked line drive to the 2nd baseman. Michael Garza (1-3 2 BB CS) can hit but his fielding is sub par thus far (5th E tonight). Rodriguez made his 4th and West shot himself in the foot for the 1st time this season. Game Log Inning destroyer. Helena Top of the 1st Raul Mondesi singles on a line drive to left fielder Tyler Linton. Christopher McFarland grounds out, third baseman Jake Lamb to first baseman Tyler Bream. Raul Mondesi to 2nd. Michael Reed strikes out swinging and Raul Mondesi caught stealing 3rd, catcher Michael Perez to third baseman Jake Lamb. Invisible in the box score. Pierce escaped at least this hard hit. Missoula Bottom of the 7th Pitcher Change: Joel Pierce replaces Manuel Ruiz. Michael Perez singles on a line drive to right fielder Raul Mondesi. With Daniel Pulfer batting, wild pitch by Joel Pierce, Michael Perez to 2nd. Daniel Pulfer walks. Tyler Linton lines into unassisted double play, second baseman Christopher McFarland. Michael Perez doubled off 2nd. With Tyler Bream batting, wild pitch by Joel Pierce, Daniel Pulfer to 2nd. Tyler Bream grounds out, third baseman Mike Garza to first baseman Michael Nemeth. Williams thought it was a ball. He pulled back his bat on a 2-strike bunt attempt. Helena Top of the 11th Alfredo Rodriguez reaches on fielding error by shortstop Pedro Ruiz. Adrian Williams strikes out swinging. With Raul Mondesi batting, wild pitch by Chase Stevens, Alfredo Rodriguez to 2nd. Raul Mondesi strikes out swinging. Christopher McFarland strikes out swinging. I told ya. But you would not have known unless you came here. Or Twitter. Missoula Bottom of the 11th Socrates Brito singles on a ground ball to shortstop Alfredo Rodriguez. Jake Lamb hit by pitch. Socrates Brito to 2nd. Breland Almadova out on a sacrifice bunt, catcher Emmanuel Quiles to second baseman Christopher McFarland. Socrates Brito to 3rd. Jake Lamb to 2nd. With Michael Perez batting, wild pitch by Michael White, Socrates Brito scores. Jake Lamb to 3rd.

Well that was amazingly only the 2nd stupidest ending to a Helena game this season. Story in a few.

Definitely some crazy R-Ball games going on tonight. Helena just tied it on an Emmanuel Quiles 3-run shot. Edit: On to extras. Reed, Garza, Nemeth

'Tees topped by Tampa to open road trip 06/28/2012 10:13 PM ET By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees TAMPA, Fla. - One day after taking winning two games in a historic "tripleheader", the Brevard County Manatees opened their six-game road trip with a 7-1 loss at the hands of the Tampa Yankees on Thursday night at George M. Steinbrenner Field. The 'Tees (5-2 second half, 34-41 overall) fell behind 5-0 after two innings and never recovered. Starting pitcher Brandon Williamson (1-5, 6.80) gave up all seven Tampa (4-3 second half, 34-40 overall) runs as he went four-plus innings. All of the runs were earned as he allowed seven hits, while walking three and striking out one. Williamson allowed a two-out, three-run homer to Kyle Roller in the first and then ran into more trouble when Eduardo Sosa led the second inning off with a triple. Sosa scored two batters later on a sacrifice fly to give Tampa a 4-0 lead. Ramon Flores then hit a ground-rule double to center and would score one batter later on a JR Murphy RBI single as the Yankees had a 5-0 advantage. Williamson retired the Yanks in order the third and the fourth, but ran into trouble again in the fifth. He allowed a lead-off walk to Murphy and then a two-run homer Slade Heathcott, which made it a 7-0 game. After walking Rob Segedin, Williamson's night was done. Brevard's bullpen did a stellar job shutting down Tampa the rest of the way as Eric Arnett and Eric Marzec pitched two scoreless innings each and allowed just three hits combined. Offensively, the Manatees couldn't solve Tampa starter Caleb Cotham as he threw six shutout innings and struck out eight Brevard hitters. The 'Tees scored their only run in the seventh inning on a solo homer by Cody Hawn, his seventh of the season. Shea Vucinich was the only Manatee who had a multi-hit effort as he was 2-for-3 with Brevard's only other extra-base hit which was a two-out double in the fifth. Brevard struck out a total of 12 times on the night against Tampa pitching. The Manatees will look to rebound in the second game of their three-game set with the Yankees on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. Andy Moye (3-0, 4.61) will take the hill for the 'Tees and will be looking to improve to 4-0 with Brevard. He is 2-0 with a 3.14 ERA in three June starts. The Yanks will counter with lefty Matt Tracy (2-1, 1.30). Box score The team fell flat today against the Yankees. Tomorrow is a new day. Brandon Williamson got the start for the 'Tees and did not produce the greatest results. The killers for Brandon were 2 homeruns, including one to very well thought of Yankee OF Slade Heathcott. Heathcott has been battling elbow issues for awhile, but he is making his presence known early on in his return. Eric Arnett went multiple innings again. That makes it 7 for his last 10. His innings have gone up every month in 2012 and he is really pitching pretty dang well. Keep it up, Eric! Another Eric, this time Eric Marzec, finished with 2 strong innings of his own. Remember, even though they had a triple header yesterday, the bullpen is actually doing pretty good thanks to a Jed Bradley complete game. Cody Hawn is starting to radiate a bit. .273/.351/.485 5 XBH 4:2 BB:K in his last 10. Of course, Jason Rogers' promotion had nothing to do with that. Sarcasm aside, he is starting to move up the hitting leader boards now in the power categories, namely 2B's ad HR's. Remember, this is the FSL, where a guy with a sub-400 SLG can be among the league leaders in 2B's and HR's. Speaking of Rogers, another SB (3) for him on a 1-4 night. No XBH's in BC for Rogers yet, but he is sporting an ungodly 7:1 BB:K ratio through 7 games. Just a fantastic 2012 for Jason. A lot of 1-4's in the box tonight but Shea Vucinich did have 2 hits, including a 2B, in this one. Reggie Keen nabbed his 1/4 century bag tonight. Game Log Williamson pretty much lost it here. Arnett proceeded to shut it down. Tampa Bottom of the 5th JR Murphy walks. Slade Heathcott homers (1) on a fly ball to right field. JR Murphy scores. Rob Segedin walks. Pitcher Change: Eric Arnett replaces Brandon Williamson. Kyle Roller flies out to left fielder Brock Kjeldgaard. Zach Wilson singles on a line drive to left fielder Brock Kjeldgaard. Rob Segedin to 2nd. Eduardo Sosa flies out to left fielder Brock Kjeldgaard. Hector Rabago flies out to center fielder Reggie Keen.

Missoula (D'Backs) 20 Helena 0 Box Score This was a very sad display. I did not listen because I had a softball game and to be honest, I am glad I didn't. By the time I got home it was already 12-0. One Brewers pitcher made it out unscathed. Martin Viramontes. 1.1 IP 1 H 0 R 1 BB 3 K for Martin. The rest of them can see their name in the internet next time. This game can be very cruel, but tomorrow has to be considered separate from everything that happened today. The hitters were not clicking either. 3 hits and 4 BB's total including a hit each for Raul Mondesi Jr. and Michael Garza. Michael Reed and Chris McFarland had walks. Game Log Yonki injury alert? I hope he is okay. He has been a fun follow thus far. Missoula Bottom of the 6th Tyler Bream lines out to shortstop Kevin Berard. John Leonard singles on a ground ball to second baseman Adrian Williams. Daniel Pulfer homers (1) on a fly ball to left field. John Leonard scores. Defensive Substitution: Alfredo Rodriguez replaces left fielder Yonki Hernandez, batting 7th, playing left field. Socrates Brito strikes out swinging. Breland Almadova walks. Stone Crabs drop two of three 06/27/2012 9:05 PM ET By Kyle Bonn MELBOURNE, FL -- On a day where three games were completed, it was the Brevard County Manatees offense that owned the day, leading the charge to top the Charlotte Stone Crabs two games to one in a series ravaged by rain. In a series where the first three days saw a total of 4-plus innings played, the two teams tried to get as much baseball in as possible on the final day. First, the two teams finished up a suspended seven-inning game from the day before, which ended up in the Stone Crabs favor by a score of 5-3 in eight innings. The game resumed after it was suspended due to rain the previous day, but not before another rain delay of almost an hour. Finally, the game returned to play where it was suspended, with one out in the top of the fifth inning and the Stone Crabs trailing 5-3. The Charlotte bats tied up the game in the top of the sixth on a bunt single by Robby Price, scoring Luke Bailey. That sent the game to extra innings, where the Stone Crabs went ahead for good on a Robi Estrada sacrifice fly. Mikie Mahtook added an RBI-triple in the frame for good measure. The teams then played a doubleheader to make up as many games as possible which had been rained out the previous three days. There, the Manatees offense came to life. In game one of the doubleheader, Albert Suarez (4-4) got the start, and pitched well, but the defense let him down in the bottom half of the first, and six runs came across in the frame. All in the first inning, the Stone Crabs failed to convert two possible double plays that would have changed the complexion of the inning, Riccio Torrez made an error at third base, and Joey Paciorek was allowed to steal home when catcher David Wendt dropped the relay throw from Derek Dietrich. Brevard County never looked back from there, and Jed Bradley (5-6) shut down the Charlotte offense to win that game 8-1 and tying the series at one game each. In the final game of the day, the Manatees bats continued to stay hot, and another big inning allowed them to take charge again. Charlotte starter Eliazer Suero (1-5) was knocked around in the third inning that saw five Manatee runs come home. Brevard County batters, with one out in the inning, got six consecutive baserunners, five via extra-base hits, the big blow coming in the shape of a two-run homer by Brock Kjeldgaard. The Stone Crabs took early 1-0 and 2-1 leads, but squandered both and were eventually downed by an 8-5 final. The top four men in the Manatees lineup combined to go 8-11 with four walks in that game, meaning they reached base 12 of the 15 times they came to the plate. Charlotte now heads back to Charlotte Sports Park for a three-game split series against the Fort Myers Miracle. The first game will feature righty Victor Mateo for the Stone Crabs against left-hander Cole Nelson for the Miracle. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

Offense dominates in 8-5 Manatees win 06/27/2012 8:16 PM ET By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees http://www.milb.com/images/2012/06/27/pjU2HRMK.jpg Manatees catcher Parker Berberet tags out Charlotte's Alejandro Torres at home plate in the bottom of the second as right fielder John Dishon threw him out. (Dennis Greenblatt/Hawk-Eye Sports Photography) VIERA, Fla. - The Brevard County Manatees capped off a long but successful day of baseball at Space Coast Stadium on Wednesday as they took the final game of three from the Charlotte Stone Crabs, 8-5 in seven innings. For the second straight game of the day, Brevard's (5-1 second half, 34-40 overall) bats came to life as they mashed 11 hits, with five of them going for extra bases. Down 2-1 going into the bottom of the third, the 'Tees plated five in the frame to put the game out of reach from the Stone Crabs (2-3 second half, 31-41 overall). With one out in the third, Reggie Keen tripled to left and was then driven in on a RBI double by T.J. Mittelstaedt. Following a Jason Rogers walk that put two on with one out, Mike Walker cleared the bases with a double into the right field corner as the Manatees took a 4-2 lead. Brock Kjeldgaard then hammered a two-run homer to left field that would have kept going if the scoreboard wasn't in the way, to give Brevard County a 7-1 lead. The homer was Kjeldgaard's 36 in a Brevard County uniform as he extended his own record for most homers as a Manatee. 'Tees starting pitcher Brooks Hall (3-3, 4.35) was the benefit of the run support as he went five innings and gave up three earned runs. He allowed six hits, while walking four and striking out one. Hall is 3-1 with a 3.65 ERA in five June starts. The first five hitters in Brevard County's order - Keen, Mittelstaedt, Rogers, Walker and Kjeldgaard - combined to go 9-for-14 with eight runs scored, seven RBI, four walks and five extra base hits. With Wednesday's historic "triple header" behind them, the Manatees will hit the road for a six-game road trip. (Ugh) The trip will begin with a three-game set against the Tampa Yankees on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. Brandon Williamson (1-4, 5.87) will toe the rubber for the 'Tees as he is looking for his first win since May 19. In his only other start against the Yankees, Williamson allowed one earned run in six innings of work. Tampa is slated to send Jose A. Ramirez (2-4, 4.14) to the mound. Box Score This game featured a Brooks Hall mediocre start and a hitting barrage from the top 4 Manatee hitters. Reggie Keen (2-3 3B BB SB (24)), T.J. Mittelstaedt (2-2 2B 2 BB), Jason Rogers (2-3 BB), and Mike Walker (2-3 2B) were just unstoppable. As I said, Hall was not the best. 5 IP 6 H 3 R 3 ER 4 BB 1 K 2 WP 4:3 GO:FO. That is now 25 BB and 24 K in Hall's last 45 IP. I can recall Chris Mehring often complimenting Hall on his demeanor and never-say-die attitude, but at some point you need an out pitch. Seth Harvey and Casey Medlen, 2 All-Star closers, were each dinged for a run in their innings. Both guys have major league stuff at their best. Rogers committed his 1st error in LF for BC but he did chuck a guy out at 3rd. John Dishon nabbed a runner at home. Game Log Team Cycle Brevard County Bottom of the 3rd John Dishon strikes out swinging. Reggie Keen triples (3) on a fly ball to left fielder Cody Rogers. T. J. Be sure to see the Bradley pitcher face in the picture. Bradley shines in 8-1 Brevard win 06/27/2012 8:04 PM ET By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees http://www.milb.com/images/2012/06/27/eSjlyHpt.jpg Manatees starting pitcher Jed Bradley threw a seven-inning complete game as Brevard County defeated the Charlotte Stone Crabs, 8-1 in the first game of a scheduled doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon. (Dennis Greenblatt/Hawk-Eye Sports Photography) VIERA, Fla. - In the first game of Wednesday's scheduled doubleheader - and the second game of the day - Jed Bradley threw a seven-inning complete game as the Brevard County Manatees routed the Charlotte Stone Crabs, 8-1 on Wednesday afternoon at Space Coast Stadium. Bradley (5-6, 4.68) allowed one earned run on six hits, while walking one and striking out five. Bradley's seven innings of work tied his longest outing of the season and the one earned run he allowed is the fewest he has allowed in a start since April 17. The southpaw had plenty of run support though as the Manatees' (4-1 second half, 33-40 overall) offense dropped six on the Stone Crabs (2-2, 31-40) in the first inning. Brevard tallied five hits in the inning; with the big blow being a two-out, two-run double by Cody Hawn - his 19th of the season. The 'Tees also pulled off a successful double steal that saw John Dishon take second and Joey Paciorek swipe home plate for a run. The game remained 6-1 until the bottom of the sixth as Brevard County tacked on two more runs for good measure for Bradley. Nick Shaw scored on a wild pitch after reaching base with a triple and Brock Kjeldgaard drew a bases-loaded walk to drive in the other run of the inning. Shaw and Hawn each had two hits in the game as the 'Tees totaled eight altogether. Box Score So as Link Report HoF'er And That implied, no one really saw that kind of start coming from Jed Bradley considering he has been getting rocked since mid-April. I really hope some kind of breakthrough has been achieved because Bradley really had me giddy with the way he started his career. Final complete game line: 7 IP 6 H 1 R 1 ER 1 BB 5 K 1 HBP 8:4 GO:FO 1 E. I wonder if the 6-run 1st inning was very beneficial for Bradley's mindset? The hitters provided plentiful amounts of support for Jedidiah. Cody Hawn (2-4 2B) and Nick Shaw (2-3 3B BB) were the multi-hit hitters. Jason Rogers (1-3 BB) and Brock Kjeldgaard (1-3 BB) were solid in the 4 and 5-hole. As mentioned, Joey Paciorek stole home as part of a double steal. Boy, did we freakin' need that down in Maryvale. Clint Coulter (2-4 3B HR BB) and Dustin Houle (1-5 HR) both hit long homeruns in this one. Jalen Harris (1-3 BB) had a nice game. I was very happy to see him in the middle of the order when the season started. I have always suspected he had one of the better bats in his group. After he finished .234/.311/.322 last season, I expect Jalen to easily best those this season. Many probably thought the same for cleanup hitter Jose Pena (0-4 3 K) last year, but his 2011 DSL campaign (.565 OPS) was considerably worse than his 2010 DSL campaign (.665 OPS). Go figure, now he is hitting 4th in stateside rookie ball. The story of the game was Puerto Rican SP Jorge Lopez. Just 19 years old and a consensus top-10 Brewers prospect, much is expected of this 2011 Suppy 1st round pick. He did not disappoint tonight. 6.1 IP 3 H 0 R 3 BB 4 K 8:6 GO:FO. The 6'4" 165 lb tree branch Lopez is basically on the Brooks Hall/Jake Odorizzi pitching progression path, albeit on the first stop. He has the talent to be better then both of those guys. 2012 33rd round pick Austin Hall finished where Lopez started completing the shut out recording 8 outs. He had 2 K's and 6 GB outs. The box says Hall had 6 GO 2 FO and 2 SO but he only pitched 2.2 innings. Can someone enlighten me? (I figured it out by looking at the box.) Here are the phantom GO's. AZL Angels Bottom of the 9th Jackson Whitley reaches on fielding error by second baseman Renaldo Jenkins. Joel Capote reaches on force attempt, missed catch error by second baseman Renaldo Jenkins, assist to shortstop Angel Ortega. Jackson Whitley to 2nd. Zachary Livingston grounds into a force out, shortstop Angel Ortega to second baseman Renaldo Jenkins. Jackson Whitley to 3rd. Joel Capote out at 2nd. Zachary Livingston to 1st. Landis Ware called out on strikes. Chance Ross flies out to left fielder Malcolm Dowell. Just 5 errors in this one, including the 2 by Renaldo Jenkins in the bottom of the 9th. Pick your spots better, kid!

Brevard County 3 Charlotte (Rays) 2 (Suspended in 5th) Box Score Well, I was really hoping I would get to report on both 2011 1st rounders on the same day. Alas, it was not to be. Taylor Jungmann got 4+ good innings in. At least that's what I thought at first. Then you see the balk, and the hit batters and the unearned runs. Makes you wonder if good is the way to describe it. Final line: 4.1 IP 2 H 2 R 0 ER 2 BB 3 K 1 Balk 2 HBP 7:3 GO:FO 1 pickoff. The bats were also off to a decent start against a decent prospect in Rays pitcher Enry Romero. Jason Rogers was on twice via the free pass and stole a base. Mike Walker had 2 hits and drove in all of the Manatee runs. 3 errors for the 'Tees through the first half of the game. SS Nick Shaw (13), 3B T.J. Mittelstaedt (9), 1B Cody Hawn (3). Game Log
