  1. Ha yeah... I could see a lot of people wanting to "rough up" the guy for the ball. I just hope its not a woman or kid... I've seen adults take balls from kids before and its pretty disturbing.
  2. Bonds is at 750... needing 5 more to tie the record and 6 to have it. The Giants have 6 games at Cinncinnati and St. Louis before the All-Star break. They then have the Dodgers at home for 3, before facing the Cubs at Wrigley for 4. Then they face the Brewers July 20th through the 22nd. In all they have 13 games (including today) left before coming to Milwaukee - the city where hammerin hank hit a lot of his homers. Bonds is likely to sit out at least 3 of those games. All I'm saying is that it could be very interesting come July 20th when Bonds comes to town. If he's close, I wonder if they will sell out all 3 games. He'll get booed no doubt... but I bet there would be a large spike it ticket sales and lots of pictures being taken. Anybody planning on purchasing some bleacher seats or standing on the walkway in right-center? What would you do if you caught THE home run ball?
  3. I say July 20th, the first game of the Giants series... which I will be attending. July 15th would mean a 9 game winnings streak...that'd be fine be me too.
  4. I never feel good about a guy's start when he's fresh off the DL. Pitchers seem like such routine guys that like everything to be in order, and when that order is disturbed they seem more likely to falter. Cappy did say he thought his arm never felt better...but what I'm worried about is if he will have the command.... and cappy is all about command. I still don't understand why they can't show every game on tv. why doesn't fsn want to pick up those extra 18 games? Its like throwing money away.
  5. Skaalen would know better than anyone and I respect his assessment. It's interesting that maybe its a mental thing if he is worried about being able to turn on a fastball. I think that is definately true... I am sure 99% of it had to do with how high he was drafted. Some players take longer to develop than others... maybe Rickie is just one of those kinda guys even if he weren't injured off an on.
  6. Ah sister's saloon on fawn lake. I've been there countless times. It's basically your standard up north dive tavern... but for some reason I love that place too. They always make a good stiff drink... I was there for their halloween celebration a few years ago and that was a lot of fun.. Once again have never eaten there tho. I save my eating for the pubnprime.
  7. I'm guessing this spawned from your other comment about how vargas appeared to have a good start in some eyes and bush a bad one with the same innings and era pitched but vargas won. Its a very interesting topic I must say. I think the worst the pitchers career numbers are that it then falls into a what have you done for me lately scenario. I think you were pointing this out but if bush has a bad outing it seems like the perception is worse than if sheets has a bad outing. also I think what contributes to these perceptions sometimes is actually the pitchers "stuff". I think starters who have more flash are givin more leeway than someone who is "boring". good topic.
  8. I don't think Yo would be available going 6 innings 3 days ago.
  9. ahhh my mistake.. I don't know why but I was thinking it was in 3 weeks.
  10. What if the "average" production is a result of injuries? For all we know he could be playing with stiffness and soarness which I doubt anyone could argue affects performance.
  11. very cool. i'll be interested to see what some of the other top baseball communites are like as well...and if they stack up against bf.net
  12. I think this was discussed in the all-star thread. But I too am wondering when they announce the competitors for the derby. I imagine a week or 2 at the most.
  13. Fstorm... I actually went to Angry Daves last summer right on 70 after a round on the links at St. Germain Golf Club (another great thing about st. germain)... but I only had a few beers. Wasn't it the Dutch door? I remeber the bartender was pregnant and extremely unfriendly. But now maybe i'll have to give it another try for the fish fry.
  14. Lil Dummy & Jasson touched on it but i'll say this anyways... The reason I started the thread was solely to discuss and speculate as to the cause of Rickie's troubles this year and particularly recently. I pointed out the obvious that he isn't producing compared to the other home-grown young guys, but that doesn't mean we should continue the whole bash/defend weeks discussion. Or where Weeks and Counsell should bat. Who knows if Rickie won't have a great year next year or if he will. It seems to me that if this injury continues to be a nagging one, then it will really be difficult for him to put together a productive year. Whether he is slumping or suffering from a nagging injury is very speculative. It seems a case can be made for both.
  15. I try to wade through it from time to time... but its just so annoying. I think i've reached my breaking point with those sites. nothing more annoying than cubs fans who get there jollies by trying to get under the skin of brewer fans. thats just bad form.
  16. Because I cannot stand them... Does anyone enjoy posting over there? Cubs fans galore and a lot of arguing. I am glad I found this site... bf.net is a class act.
  17. Theres no way they take Hart out of the leadoff spot... or mess with even the top 5 right now.
  18. The stats you put up there are great stuff there JoeHova.... that makes perfect sense to me. Thats why he has a decent amount of walks because if they don't get 2 k's on him he lays off. Then he probably tenses up a bit and gets to anxious with 2 strikes and swings at pitches he probably shouldn't swing at. Thus striking out a bit more.
  19. 19 at-bats is too small of a sample.. no doubt about it. BUT he has shown this same pattern before after coming off a period of rest. I'd rather not comment on his future trade value or career number projections... but whether or not he is currently being hampered by the wrist. wrists are a very sensative thing to deal with especially for a major league baseball player. can you imagine trying to hit a ball with a soar wrist... it can't be easy. that being said... i'd reallllly love to see rickie swing at less balls. It deceiving because of his high obp but it sure does seem like he swings at a lot of balls.
  20. st. germain? i love st. germain! i've been going up there on vacation with my family for years and years. classic st. germain: fibbers (love the name, and its right on big st. germain lake) the pub and prime (best prime rib ever) cathy's ice cream (can't beat the rocky road) elmer's go-carts (fastest go carts i know of)
  21. miller park attendence 13,704 for that game.... yikes.
  22. It does seem like he's swinging at everything... and that really doesnt have anything to do with the wrist itself, but moreso the inconsistant playing time as you suggested. I think they really need a healthy Rickie for the second half. I like graf and counsell so much better when they come off the bench. also... it seems like rickie is one of those guys that would rather just play through the pain (if there still is some) and try to keep it quiet rather than go back to the team and say he can't play with it.
  23. With the low era addition of Gallardo to the pen, that era is looking even better and better for them. If turnbow continues to throw a few more good innings, they are on the verge of everyone being below 3.5 in the pen. that would be amazing considering it doesnt feel like turnbow, spurling, or shouse should have 3 something era's. also... did anyone see the pirate fans do their staged "walk-out" at the game I think it was 2 nights ago. They only got a couple thousand fans to do it, and I guess most of the fans actually returned to their seats anyways. I sympathize with pirate fans.... I'm sure many brewer fans can relate to their long woes.
  24. I know its all really speculation, but one can't help but wonder if this recent slump is due to more wrist problems. He is 1 for his last 19, after a somewhat hot start coming off the DL. He's shown a bit of a surge in the past when coming off extended rest... and now it seems like the time where he regresses again. A comment from the IGT yesterday suggested that Rickie has shown the least production of all the young brewers prospects. I would have to agree for the most part. So which is it? His hitting approach? Or wrist problems?
