  1. Good slider to end the game. So glad they went with the slider instead of another fastball. Good job John. Not pretty, but effective.
  2. I'd prefer Hoffman in the 9th, with Axford also a possibility.
  3. Indeed. I'm worried about his delivery though. It reminds me of Billy Wagner's a bit and it seems rather violent. Hopefully he can stay healthy with it.
  4. What the hell is Macha thinking? Ummm, bunt the damn ball. Now the DP. Go figure
  5. It sucks going to the minor league forum and checking out our pitching prospects only to see most of them struggling, Arnett included. Sounding like another underachieving pitcher selected in the 1st round by this organization.
  6. 2 pitches, 2 outs?? Really? How about looking at a few pitches guys? Corey does his best to make up for that impatience. I still hate it when people think we have a prolific offense. It's really not that good. Take out those huge days against Pitt and we aren't looking so hot. I just wish we had guys who had solid OBP percentage and looked at some pitches.
  7. Exactly. If Macha isn't going to stand up for his own player by getting into a heated argument, then I'm not sure the players respect him. Could you imagine what Yost or Bobby Cox would have done about that situation last night?
  8. *LHP Chris Capuano had an "out" clause in his minor-league contract that said he could walk away if the Brewers didn't call him up by May 20. But both parties agreed that he wasn't physically ready for that kind of decision, so they agreed to extend the "out" clause to May 29. "That gives him two more starts," said Ash. "We'll see where he is after that. Nothing has to happen on the 29th unless he dictates it. He just didn't feel he was ready and we didn't feel he was ready." Capuano, coming a second Tommy John elbow reconstruction, has pitched twice for Nashville, going 1-1 with a 1.88 ERA. Prior to that, he made three starts at Brevard County, going 2-0 with a 1.23 ERA. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/94609629.html Probably going to get a decision fairly soon...
  9. Please tell me Vargas is DFA'd. It makes no sense to send down Axford or Estrada.
  10. Per TH, Braun and Fielder flipped in the lineup today. Let's see how this goes.
  11. I really hope he can turn around this year (both drug issues and control) because this team really needs him as a frontline starter. So, is there no way he's going to be ready on the 21st? Do we have a time table for this tightness or is it day to day?
  12. My immediate thought was Counsell to 3rd and McGehee DH'ing. I'm not a huge fan of Edmonds at first but the Braun DH'ing idea isn't too bad either.
  13. He got injured in his first AB where he accidentally fouled off a pitch and looks like he pulled a side muscle.
  14. That's probably one of those things that shaves $$ off the contract, and I'm not so sure I like that either, but I would sign him to this deal. I just wouldn't go much higher.
  15. Exactly. Manny is not a reliever and shouldn't be used in tight situations without any experience, but of course he's thrown in the fire.
  16. I'm actually hoping we get changes because the organization isn't going to succeed unless we can develop starting pitching. Although I doubt Seid gets replaced and nor should he, but the franchise's future success is squarely on its pitching. I've never really liked Macha and the fact that he doesn't like to go with his young guys. I don't think Melvin would be fired although I can't say I'd be incredibly upset if they did let him go. It's just a matter of finding someone better which can be tough. Obviously, I don't want the team to suck, but at least you'd get some firings that way. It's not like I'm hoping we stink for a while just to make changes.
