  1. So the Arenado issues appear to stem from him being ticked they haven't done a whole lot this offseason. Gee Nolan, think it might have anything to do with the fact the Rockies recently spent like drunken sailors on veteran bullpen arms that have struggled and gave you an enormous contract?? At this point he's just positioning himself to opt out after next season and become a FA. He will be on the trade block at the deadline assuming the rockies are out of it, if not sooner should the rift between him and the front office get even more ugly.
  2. swing and miss stuff, but honestly I think he'd walk more than he'd strike out if hitters just stood there and didn't swing. It'd have to be a 1-yr deal around $3M for me to be thrilled to see him with the Brewers, which is probably not rich enough for him to sign here if there are multiple offers. I do know Stearns loves himself pitchers with a good slider...
  3. Plenty of people were calling for Adams to get cut after his second year. Takes a long time to get on the same page as Rodgers - Adams said that earlier this week. Could always see it in there somewhere with Adams though, and he had insane college stats...I think that’s why people were so frustrated.. I don’t see it with MVS, and Allison has had plenty of time. If they want to keep one as a #4 or #5 I’m ok with it, but the top end talent must improve next season. St brown flashed but that’s not good enough to hope he’s good in a few years. We’re running out of time (thanks TT). Allison is dead weight, IMO, he'll be replaced on the roster by a healthy St. Brown next year, who did show some ability at the end of 2018. I was bummed he got injured before the season started this year, because he seemed poised to take the jump that would've at least given them another decent option on the outside. They either need to draft a WR early this year or sign a talented veteran. I think Sternberger showed some things to like the combo of him and Tonyan at the TE spot - maybe there's a FA brought in there as well to improve that unit. It'd be nice to find another OL like Jenkins in the mid rounds - you almost need to draft a starting caliber lineman every year to keep that position grouping from falling apart or costing too much of your salary cap. The Packers absolutely need to address MLB for this roster next year, and if they dip into free agency Littleton is the guy I'd want them to bring in...otherwise hopefully there are a couple options in the draft who would carry first round grades that will probably slip down to #30 or a range where the Packers could move up a few spots in what looks to be a QB and WR-heavy draft this year.
  4. They need a game wrecker mlb that can make plays without lineman in front of him clearing up all the blocking. For too long GB mlbers have been the guys who aren't athletic enough to make attacking plays by beating blocking to the punch and running downhill, instead they sit back in running holes or coverage and have to rely on angles to corral guys down. Passive linebackers in today's NFL have no shot against speed at RB and good TE's. #50 for GB got embarrassed tonight. Martinez wouldn't be on the 49ers roster, yet he is the packers primary starting middle linebacker. Get a guy with speed the ability to play decent pass coverage in that spot and this defense looks alot different in base personnel formations. That's why san fran owned the packers defense - they kept them in base and constantly attacked its weakest link with outside runs and quick throws to the outside.
  5. Yeah but sort of like the missed FG and Ripkowksi fumble in the Atlanta blowout in the end it's pretty hard to argue it would have made a difference, we got stomped. Generally agreed, but being even somewhat competitive makes the 49ers change some of the play calls, and who knows how the game plays out. The fact the 49ers basically walked all over them with just the outside running game and not really any tricky scheming is frustrating.
  6. Would have been nice for the packers not to crap the bed on both sides of the ball for the first half...they have flaws for sure, but this could have been much more of a game
  7. Watch gb on offense throw to the flat...need it blocked perfectly to gain 3-5 yards. Watch it happen when the packers are on defense, receiver runs downfield untouched 8 yards before a LB touches him with poor blocking
  8. Only a fluke TO gets the D off the field and makes this interesting. Defense is getting toyed with when it matters
  9. Not just cause it's pointlessly happening now, but yeah this delay of game crap is gonna get changed in the offseason. Just stop the clock by rule after every delay penalty.
  10. That really is appalling. It's inexcusable. After 17-0 they should have been in a goal line defense. And it's all about their ILB and safety play constantly getting caught in the wash...
  11. I'm not saying at all this would be the difference given the defense's ineptitude today, but what the packers are doing this half offensively is what I hoped their initial gameplan would have been. Spread em out and run a muddle huddle/hurry up to keep their defense from subbing to try and slow down the pass rush. Seemed like they were trying the same crap that didnt work in the first game in the first half...
  12. Unreal...this looks like OSU / middle Tennessee state
  13. Is there anyone else on the roster to play MLB? They are just toying with Martinez's inability to get outside the tackle box and pick the wrong gap to shoot....run right, then run left - rinse repeat. No outside contain whatsoever. Its maddening this isnt even a game despite garappolo not having to do anything at all.
  14. The fumbled snap on a drive and INT late in half #1 that basically amounted to what could be at least a 17 point swing in this game on the scoreboard makes this opening td drive of the 2nd half frustrate me to no end. Yes the defense is getting rolled, but the two TOs ended this game
  15. GB defenders look like they are looking to get blocked on these plays
  16. They are exposing Martinez repeatedly
  17. Someone tell lafleur this same late November game plan wont work...spread the 49ers out and attempt a few throws further that 3 yards downfield!
  18. Kiddos swimming lessons, then lunch at BW3's in viking country wearing packers gear, then some ice fishing to burn most of my day before the game... Nice little Sunday...I'd go.to home depot but I don't think ill have enough time!
  19. That is double good news, has Greene been able to practice? He was playing pretty well before he got hurt. Greene has been practicing for the better part of two weeks. Seems to me to be a big ask to bring him in to likely have to cover Kittle, but we’ll see what the plan is soon. Can he be worse than our other options? Having Greene as a coverage LB/S option either on Kittle or their FB would be drastically better than what they had the first time around in San Fran this year...but they have to neutralize the running game to make that happen with greene on the field. Greene might be able to cover those guys on obvious passing downs, but can he hold up with those same players run blocking him as well, which they are both excellent at doing?
  20. Whenever I hear Rodgers talk about wanting a game like this at home, I remind myself that he had every opportunity for one back in 2011 and that 15-1 team got smoked by the Giants at home in the divisional round. They also lost a home playoff game to the 49ers in a divisional round. His best postseason play has actually happened on the road, if he really wants to look at it compared to results at home playoff games. No they didn't. They lost a home Wild Card game vs. the 12-4 Niners the year Rodgers missed half the season and they were 8-7-1. They did lose a road divisional game the prior year and gave up 45 points. They were not expected to win either game and the former was incredibly close especially when most had them getting blown out. My bad, for some reason 'Divisional' equaled 'Wild Card' round in my head when I wrote that post. I feel like that was the year after Kaepernick torched them in the divisional round at San Fran.

  22. If one of Burnes or Peralta turn the same corner Woodruff made at some point between September 2018 and Opening Day 2019, the Brewers' rotation actually looks pretty darn good considering the collective pay of that group... Collectively, the 7 pitcher grouping of Anderson/Lindblom/Woodruff/Peralta/Houser/Burnes/Lauer will make roughly $10.5M in 2020. There is actually a very good chance the entire Brewer Opening Day pitching staff will make less than John Lester or Yu Darvish will in 2020.
  23. The 2018 and 2019 offseasons are what the Brewers do when they have excess payroll - those two opening day payrolls are among their highest payrolls in team history, with 2019 being number 1. They don't go out and get Grandal and Moose last offseason unless they are on 1 year deals. Hell, they don't go out and sign Cain along with trading for Yelich in the 2018 offseason unless they spent the prior 1-2 seasons with a reduced payroll. Couple things related to where the current Brewer payroll sits relative to last season: #1 - they do have some flexibility to add a bit more payroll if they bring in a player via trade, provided what's leaving includes players currently on their 40 man. I think that may still happen before opening day, if not midseason if the Brewers are again in contention and buyers/sellers are more defined in July than in January. #2 - the Brewers could also be exploring what it might take to lock up Yelich to an extension, particularly if it would include restructuring his current deal to actually pay him anything close to what he's worth to their team in his prime. They still have him 3 more seasons at around $14M per season, which is comically low. What if they are viewing the $ coming off the books after this year with Braun's deal ending as a way of giving Yelich more over the next 3 seasons and potentially extending him into his mid-30s? Expecting Yelich to take a team-friendly discount is pretty silly unless the Brewers' offer includes much more money in seasons 2020-2022 than he is going to make with his current deal. I'd much rather the Brewers explore ways to pay Yelich $25-$30M a year in his age 31-34 seasons (2023- 2026) than shelling out roughly that much for Donaldson in his age 34-37 seasons. The ONLY way keeping Yelich around past 2022 is for the Brewers start planning for his increased contract now, and perhaps the only way to keep him happy the next 3 seasons is to find a way to restructure his current deal.
  24. If he plays to his career average in terms of missing between 1-2 seasons worth of games due to injury, how does it look then? Mid 30s players dont age well. Injury prone mid 30s players fare even worse. Donaldson is a great player when healthy, but that doesnt happen consistently enough for me to want the brewers to give him that kind of coin over 4 seasons.
