  1. Jeez...this isnt a game if they just take care of the damn ball
  2. The biggest problem is the front four is beating the offensive line in the gaps. Sure, but try at least one outside run or at least fake a jet sweep to at make those d lineman think about moving laterally takes alot of teeth out of that upfield push and hold a linebacker for a second.
  3. That is over a yard off on a 3rd and two on the spot...just atrocious
  4. Why is is so hard to see that spreading oregon out defensively will gash them running the ball? Get outside the 8 man front with an end around or jet sweep already!
  5. I think it has as much to do with Dorsey knowing there are going to be much greener pastures available to him and soon and getting out before his rep was tarnished having to go through a coaching search with an organization he probably wanted out from. The Redskins make alot of sense...so would the Cowboys if Jerry Jones wasn't such a narcissist. If he wanted to wait 1-2 years, there are likely going to be a bunch of GM/president of football ops positions opening up. Seems like there are alot of front offices/owners looking to give it one more shot with the folks in charge rather than making significant organizational changes just 1 year before the current CBA is set to expire and potentially lead to a work stoppage in 2021.
  6. I keep coming back to Kyle Seager - I think the Mariners are hoping a trade market develops for him after Donaldson signs somewhere...if he's healthy he would be a great fit playing in Milwaukee and hitting in the 5-6 slot of a lineup. Him opting to waive that automatic player option 3rd year of his contract if he's dealt to a contender makes him even more enticing if he's actually serious about it. I'm also keeping an eye out on where Lindor winds up if he's traded - if the Dodgers bring him in they are going to probably look to trade Cory Seager or Justin Turner. These dominos are going to take time to become available, but any of those three names would be significant upgrades at 3B for the Brewers. It's too early to tell what the pricetag would be with some of these guys, particularly if the Brewers are willing to take on a good chunk of Turner's or Kyle Seager's remaining salary. Cory Seager would probably cost the most in terms of prospect value and probably have the largest # of teams vying to trade for him. Another factor slowing the 3B trade market down is what the Cubs are going to do with Bryant pending results of that grievance that is taking FOREVER to be resolved. I struggle to understand why the Cubs are looking to trade him regardless of the grievance outcome - that market crying poor due to their own luxury tax problems for signing guys like Heyward and Lester to these massive deals is hilarious. Unless there is truly bad blood with Bryant for the Cubs holding him back in the minors when they were terrible, I don't see how he leaves. Specific to the Cubs, is it me or have they had just a trainwreck of an offseason so far? They seem to be completely handcuffed in what they can do in terms of adding players via FA due to self-imposed payroll constraints, and that farm system doesn't have any immediate answers filling some gaping holes. For now, the Brewers have in-house options to cover 3B, but Stearns will bring someone better in...it's more than likely a matter of being patient and waiting for better options to become available as this offseason progresses. That may actually trickle into next season at the trade deadline for some of the options I listed above (sans Bryant - no way he'd be dealt to the Brewers if he is traded).
  7. Thanks for completely missing the point of my post. Your point was making the case Stearns built the current roster differently than a delirious nfl GM to a poster I currently have blocked, so forgive me for expanding on one of your good points instead of going down the rabbit hole they were trying to dig. All I was trying to do was fill in perspective with how perceived prospect value is oftentimes overstated, particularly in trades. I actually think this is somewhat of a market/value issue that Stearns is exploiting by selling overvalued prospect assets for established mlb talent...especially if a gm is adept at identifying prospects who are more likely to flame out or not blossom into 4 WAR players once they reach the major leagues.
  8. I'm firmly in the camp of having a sort of automatic qualifier setup for the college playoff with 1 at large bid. This would largely diminish the influence of preseason rankings, which all but make it impossible for teams outside the september top ten having a shot to jump teams in front of them unless they lose multiple times. All 5 power 5 conference champs, plus 1 at large qualifier. This would incentivize winning your conference in order to win a title, and still have room for a deserving at large bid from a stacked conference or a deserving non power conference team. Seed those 6 teams based on body of work, giving the top 2 teams a bye in the playoff. Setting it up this way inadvertently may incentivize top recruits spreading themselves out a bit more to improve conference parity. Right now the best all know the 6 or 7 programs they need to pick from to if they have any hope of playing in the playoff.
  9. Going back to our 2016 prospect list from MLB Pipeline Stearns has traded 7 of our top 10 prospects for major league help. Aside from Grisham, who was dealt in a package that returned a prospect who has always been rated much higher than him and who can play middle IF positions, which of the other 6 prospects from that list Stearns traded has shown anything at the MLB level that would indicate he made a mistake trading them for what he go in return in value for the MLB club? Dubon in his cup of coffee I guess, but he was never going to play over Hiura at 2nd and it's still unclear whether he could play SS everyday at the big league level compared to a player like Urias. Plus trading him got the Brewers Pomeranz down the stretch, which was one of the primary reasons they even sniffed the postseason last year. These are the prospects in that top ten that were dealt since 2016 Brinson Ortiz Grisham Phillips Diaz Dubon Lara To me that 2016 list that had the Brewers' farm in the top 10 systems across MLB (MLB pipeline actually had them as best in baseball after the 2016 trade deadline) shows how overrated their system was and also how unreliable prospect rankings are in general. However, the interesting item is one of the 3 prospects the Brewers held onto from that list of ten was Hader, who is now the subject of a 40 page thread on trading away despite still having him for 4 more seasons - most of which will be had for below market value for a premium reliever with multi-inning abilities that solidifies a pitching staff no matter what his role is.
  10. It is tough to say for sure, the closest thing the Saints have had to a bad weather game due to temps was a wild card playoff game against the eagles several years ago that they eeked out, and that game time temp was in the upper 20s. They haven't played anything close to a cold weather game during the regular season in forever. The fact they dont live in it like a northern dome team (vikes) gives them a bigger disadvantage than most when even trying to prepare for an outdoor game in the teens or single digits. What makes their offense great is its versatility...but if conditions limit what they can do within a game, it's less versatile and they have to lean on some things they do that arent their strengths.
  11. BS they reviewed it any more than all of us did between plays...reviewing it would have meant buzzing down and taking time to actually review the play more than the one replay NBC showed, which had their booth asking why the play wasn't being reviewed. The whole system is a total sham and they know it - they are just trying to make it confusing enough for most fans to throw their hands up and not care anymore.
  12. Brees, Kamara, and Jared Cook say hello. Add maybe the best WR in the NFL to that as well. I felt like the Saints were the worst match up for GB. Brees gets the ball out fast enough to neutralize the Packers rush. I think their skill players are better than SF. Playing at home may neutralize those weapons a little. It's the playing at home that makes the saints less formidable than the 49ers, imo...the saints in january at lambeau dont bring the caliber of physical play that the 49ers could do in those conditions. It's the olines, too. And Kittle is just that dynamic a TE At some point the packers need to beat at least one of the saints or 49ers - I'd rather face the saints at home than any other scenario with those teams, so it's about as good as it gets. Unless the Vikings upset NO and gift the pack a divisional round game against a battered eagles or seahawks team.
  13. Add to that the game was on national tv, and their booth ref expert was calling for them to buzz in for a review. Just scrap the replay review rule altogether if it's going to be that subjective of when it's actually reviewed..in fact go to a modified college rule for PI, allow contact all over the field until the ball is thrown, but then keep PI as a spot foul to award more than 15 penalty yards on deeper passes. Oh well - of all the nfc playoff teams the one I'd want to face the least regardless of location was San Fran due to the fact they have a dynamic running game/play action game and a game changer at tight end...those strengths are amplified given GB's biggest defensive weakness is MLBers. So at least this outcome puts a potential game with them out to the nfccg. Wouldn't mind seeing seattle play them again in san fran for the divisional round if they beat philly, too.
  14. Yes....burning two timeouts without the clock running in that last minute is inexcusable
  15. That is soooo close
  16. Oh this is fun no matter what happens
  17. So if the 49ers find a way to lose this game are they somehow the most formidable 5th seed team ever, or is seattle now really good at football again? I'm having a hard time keeping up...
  18. Is it me, or is bosa playing with something wrong on his left hand or wrist? Dude is always grabbing at it after every play
  19. Here we go...
  20. Wow that ball came out on the hit and it was a lateral
  21. Let's take a step back and see if they actually win tonight first before giving them the next 3 super bowls, ok? It's still Jimmy G at qb. What's wrong with Jimmy G? He's certainly performing at a higher level than our quarterback. How many playoff wins does he have again? How many playoff games has he started again? Not saying he is bad, just not experienced at all in postseason play.
