  1. I think he's referring to his March/April record prediction and how close it's to being correct...you can find that post in just about every game thread and other thread on the board over the past few weeks, unfortunately
  2. Why? Your pen is lights out. they won't be in August/September if they keep appearing in games at the rate they've been at in April
  3. Is it Skip? I remember him carrying a decent BA for a few seasons...
  4. This Brewer lineup reminds me so much of the Cards' scrub lineups that terrorized this message board. Aaron Miles, Skip Schumaker, Nick Punto, So Taguchi....you'd see the lineup posted and think, "OK, the Brewers can't lose this game, right?" 4 hours later your wife is wondering why you're screaming profanities in a dark room at your computer
  5. easy there, about 24 hours ago everyone thought the Brewers couldn't get the Cards out of their head...this is just baseball being awesome
  6. I think I'd consider it a minor victory if this lineup forces the Cardinals to pitch at least 3 innings using the bullpen...hoping they keep pushing Lynn's pitch count up
  7. nothing like kicking what you hope will be a deep start off with a 26-pitch 1st inning...this one has all the makings of Gennett or Weeks pitching the 8th inning tonight. I'd pick someone else, but there's no other position player available to take their spot if they would be called on to burn an inning.
  8. $5 dollars gets 5 burgers at George Webb's after tonights game with this lineup...book it!
  9. Based on who he has available, it's pretty much the only lineup RR can put out there so I'm not going to place blame on him. Lucroy needs the night off and everyone else on the bench can't play aside from Weeks, and Lynn is a RH starter.
  10. Doesn't look like the rain's going to happen during the scheduled timeframe for the game, but that could change. I agree that the best scenario would be a washout that gives everyone another day to rest and heal. Lohse needs to be efficient and get them deep in the game, for sure. If he struggles and the Brewers are down a few, I really hope RR caves and the 1st arm out of the pen is Wang...even if it leads to the game getting out of hand, it actually feels more important to give most of the pen a night off than fighting for a win after last night.
  11. Regarding the 7-day DL for concussions, I would think there has to be medical evidence from a non-partial doctor's assessment in order for a team to put a player on it. It can't just be because something looked bad or because a guy got hit in the head on the baseball field. I would hope any time a player suffers some form of head injury that he's evaluated and if there are signs of a concussion, he's automatically put on that 7-day DL. Take the decision on what to do with a head injury away from both the player and management. I actually think it would benefit Segura's balky shoulder in the long run to be put on the 15-day DL, and also give him plenty of time for the headwound to heal.
  12. If Bradley continues his strong start you gotta get him to AA before too long. I think the glut of interchangeable pitching on the Nashville roster is going to get churned through and won't be a deterrent for any legit pitching prospects getting promotions that they deserve, including Jungmann and Bradley if they continue to impress. The overall view of Bradley as a prospect has been negative since shortly after he was drafted, but he's exactly the type of prospect I'd be hesitant to include in any trades to bolster the 2014 MLB roster...if he's regained the velocity and command that warranted him top of the draft consideration going into his last college season he could make alot of doubters change their tune. He's got to face better competition in a league that isn't as pitcher-friendly as High A, though.
  13. That's got to happen with Hellweg sooner than later then...the 40 man needs position players in a bad way, even if they are just filler until key guys are available again
  14. I think some of the huge innings totals from years gone by were also helped by how the MLB schedule was set back in the day...there were tons of scheduled double headers which led to many more true off days for teams. You may only have a 4 man rotation, but you never really needed a 5th starter if you played two weekend double headers, then had your next game scheduled the following Wednesday or Thursday to accomodate travel.
  15. Aside from the Coulter/Roache 1st round picks a few seasons ago and 2013's too soon to tell high picks (no true first rounder last year, too), the prior 4-5 1st round drafts have created the dearth of perceived impact talent in the Brewer system. It's not even about the prospects they traded away to get pitching anymore (none of which appear to be organization-killers at this point, btw). They do have players with talent and who will have MLB careers, there's just a 4-5 season void of guys with "can't miss" written all over them. Their 1st rounders from that timeframe play to the potential of 3rd or 4th rounders, didn't sign, or are already washed out due to injury/ineffectiveness. From a pitching standpoint, I feel the Brewers have finally gotten themselves in a position where they can piece together bullpens and bottom of the rotations with homegrown arms. I think there's tremendous value in being able to do that for a small market team. Right now the Brewers' prospect lists lack obvious #1 starters, and MLB-ready impact bats...pretty much the two things prospect rating systems use to determine organizational rankings.
  16. Yes, they can retroactively DL him...the fact the Brewers seem to do this so often is part of the reason the roster's in such a predicament. With both pitchers and position players, it seems like they wait too long to make roster moves, and it leads to them playing with less than 25 available players way too often. Part of the reason this happens with position players is likely because they have very limited options on the 40-man to replace players if they do get injured.
  17. I'd be shocked if ARam is available to play tonight, so if no roster moves would be made and assuming Segura and Braun aren't available, that leaves RR with 22 players which includes a rule V guy they're obviously trying to avoid using during competitive game situations. LuCroy has to get a night off from catching, and even though Davis came through with a big hit late last night I think he's probably due for an offday, too. There needs to be one or two of the walking wounded placed on the DL, and I think bringing up another OF or reliever could do the team alot of good...Schafer's still a few days away, but calling up Gindl to give RR some flexibility for the OF would help in the short term. With no off days for the next 9 games and the extra inning game last night, I think bringing Wooten or Figaro up and going with 13 pitchers would be an option, too. Weeks is killing roster flexibility right now, but what hurts the most is having Braun out with Schafer on the DL...they need another OF available so Herrara can fill the role of backup everything again - sticking him out in RF and essentially losing his bench spot really hurts right now. Looking at the current Brewer 40-man roster right now, and something needs to change with that, too - position player-wise, they have two 1B and an OF and that's it. The rest are pitchers. With Hellweg getting surgery on his arm, what options do the Brewers have in the short term to free up his roster spot for Taylor Green, while still having him under team control? Can they 60-day DL him?
  18. Multiple moves should be made - LuCroy needs a day off and depending on the severity of ARam's injury, he'll need at least a day. Whoever's further away from playing between Braun & Segura needs to be DL'd, and frankly if ARam looks like he'll miss multiple games I think he needs a DL stint, too. Bring up Gindl and maybe put Green on the 40 man and get him on the roster. With no off day for about another 9-10 games, the Brewers need guys on the active roster who can play. Jeez, always have to make it interesting, don't we?
  19. C'mon Duke, get Jay....if Holliday gets up this inning it's game over
  20. Duke leading the inning off...there aren't any other options available right now, right?
  21. doesn't matter when Herrara watches strike 3 sail by...does Kintzler have to go out there for another inning after already throwing about 30 pitches? Over/under on his next DL trip will be this weekend if he does. ...nevermind, he's only at about 20. still not the greatest thing to have to do
